I've been shooting stills very successfully with a D90 for 3 years. I find your instructional videos extremely hard to follow. You don't follow your thoughts through & leave so much out. I feel I could watch your 6 videos 10 times each & still not grasp enough to succeed. Also it looks like you need to purchase around $800 of editing & other equipment. Total drag but thanks for trying.
hi i gave my husband a d90 camera but he never try to learned and explore how to use it. now can you show me how to set the camera when your in the beach?
@eye008 it looks like the gap within what is considered semi expert and expert is smaller these days. d7000 is all many of us need. go to... freedslr . c0m change 0 with o and try to get the chance to win completely new Nikon D7000
i recently just purchased the Rebel T3i from canon.... turns out the nikon D90s 720p video is what it is, just depends on the memory card ur using. yes memory cards have a huge effect. i switched out my class 4 mem card for a panasonic gold class 10 and the quality difference is INSANE! the cost of a class 10 is substantialy higher, but its defiantly worth the cost. Make sure u get a good class 10 tho.. with a writing speed of 200 or more
hi there my friend, ur video is absolutely great in helping those who are gonna get D90 like in a few hours time :D:D:D thank you so much, appreciate this tutorial of urs very much. :D have a great day!
thx sir for teaching me so much about taking decent movie out of my D90. got so frustrated with result at first in M mode, now i know why. i will practise more with it.
D90, as the first video d-slr, is flawed, but pls keep the good work on d-slr video tutorial sir, to let us D90 owner to take good use of it.
When I watch your opening scene for "Vengeance Rides A Train" at 0:21 to 0:30 is what im talking about. how it autofocuses by its self. thats why im trying to capture. Its not doing that on my camera.
so i need help!!! I did what you said to do ina the video but now my AutoFocus isnt working anymore when I record. which i i cant get the simple blur effect. PLEASE HELP!!
@StereoTragedy Autofocus is not usable while recording video. Now if your autofocus isnt working at all for stills, make sure that your AF switch is turned on your lens.
@StereoTragedy you can use AF in liveviwe but not while recording. if you want to use autofucus to fucus your shots before you start redording that's fine, but never for any reason should you actually make use of autofocus in liveview because it doesn't work as well as when you look through the eyepiece. so turn liveview off, autofocus using the eyepice then turn liveview back on and hit record. if you really want good results, practice with manual focus.
Is there any way we can tell when the sensor is over heating? When should we stop using the live view mode before we have to turn it off for 30 minutes?
what kind of lighting you have a particular video from your left side, when the footage of you. Thanks. As I understand you ar eshoioting wiht stock lense not a d 50mm f1.8? Thanks.
I'm planning on shooting a short film soon and am thinking of getting the D 90 to film it. I have the new 50mm f1.4 , 18-55mm and the 55-200 nikkor lenses. Would you recommend using the D90.
You can try the D90 at a place like bestbuy before you buy. The lenses that you have now will work great for filming, though you wont be able to use the 55-200 handheld.
I didn't realize that you had already shot some films with the d90. They look amazing!! Well done. I hope your getting payed for this cause I bet your getting some serious busines for Nikon. i'm buying a D 90 now, no question! Only because of your help!
I'm hoping to get Nikon D90 this summer, and I can't wait for it. Meanwhile, your videos have already been a big help :] thanks and keep on making them
actually, I don't have any idea now. I'm trying to get it from store, 'cuz my aunt live in South Africa so I'm hoping it's cheaper there then in Europe, if that doesn't work I'll probably try buying it on ebay

great tutorial... thanks for sharing. Too bad we cant use mcuh of the manual adjustments like aperture and ISO.
beyree 2 years ago
I've found that I can adjust the aperture if I use older manual focus lenses with an aperture ring. That is at least with the d300s.
