I must have watched Mary Poppins a thousand times as a child... To this day, I have no idea what it was about, just that it had a few good songs. Mental that something I experienced so often wasn't understood. I'll have to rewatch it one day.
@MsChatfield Ya, you know it was the same with me. When I was younger watching this i didnt actually understand the movie very well at all. Just loved the songs.
@mitmfan Children wouldn't have been able to leave the house with out an adult, so no, she wouldn't have had a key. Also, they have servants, so there would be no need for a key.
The good old times :)

Dick Van Dyke for years said he never made a good movie but he's recently embraced this one, apparently.

Why does Jane ring the bell when it's her own home? Is it some 1910s thing, some British thing, some mistake, or something else?

@mitmfan
Maybe she knows the door is locked and she doesn't have a key or something? I don't know it makes just as little sense to me to be honest.

@kiangreer I suppose she could have just tried to open the door without first assuming it was locked.
mitmfan 11 months ago
@mitmfan well they probably didn't have a key to their house since they left in the morning with their dad and came back with the chimmy sweep
