I think she's easy to identify with. She's not shockingly beautiful, but pretty enough to carry EL's products and not alienate the average Jane. She has a feminine but strong face - perfect for an American product like EL known for its classic makeup. I see why they chose her.

I don't think she is turn-and-stare gorgeous, but she is (obviously) model material and is very successful. I much prefer Paulina, Liz, or Carolyn to Hilary in terms of looks, but Hilary has actually drawn me to the brand because she's younger than the other EL models and I identify with that.

Liz Hurley may be too old for skincare commercials but Hilary Rhoda does not inspire anything. There are plenty of other models who could have done it. Why did they pick Rhoda? She is just pretty. Maybe it is because EL target public is richer older people with more classical tastes in terms of beauty ad. Like a very young pretty model will do.

Actually she's a model who comes from the higher class in NY with not a lot of success before E.L. hired her. Probably the intent was to appeal to a younger audience who dreams of living the model's real life of riding horses and enjoying nice parties and afford all EL skincare or smthing like that. On the catwalk I am sure she looks nice she just does not have a face that makes ppl "wanna kill" to look like her (like spend a lot of money on all those products).
