If you attempt to say that big pharma can't patent natural therapies, let me simply refer you to the fact that certain herbal remedies for gout can no longer be sold on the market due to the patents big pharma has on their derivatives (I believe Uloric is one of them). All it takes is a proper isolation of a certain compound, a binding agent to control its release, and a specific color and logo, and you've got yourself a patented drug.

Yes, earth has provided us with natural cures for many diseases. It has also given us plenty of those diseases in the first place. There is a time and place for naturopathy, and in certain scenarios it could be considered a preferred method. I would reference compounds like THC and psilocybin as effective therapies over rather harsh psychotropics in particular...
DCA is not harmless. As pointed out, it causes nerve damage and encephalopathy (brain dysfunction). So while it may have an effect at killing specific types of cancer (and there's no doubt to this), it still has inherent risks that are permanent.

If you attempt to say that big pharma can't patent natural therapies, let me simply refer you to the fact that certain herbal remedies for gout can no longer be sold on the market due to the patents big pharma has on their derivatives (I believe Uloric is one of them). All it takes is a proper isolation of a certain compound, a binding agent to control its release, and a specific color and logo, and you've got yourself a patented drug.

This yearly harvest of salmonberries is mentioned in Eskimo essays which you can easily read on google books. DCA is not harmless. As pointed out, it causes nerve damage and encephalopathy (brain dysfunction). So while it may have an effect at killing specific types of cancer (and there's no doubt to this), it still has inherent risks that are permanent.
There is no suppression of these natural cures. There is simply not enough evidence that they are effective in treating diseases in their current form. There is constant, ongoing research into DCA in particular.
