I go through alot of underwear looking at the prices of uprights. Unless its an electric unright, there about $1500, but they dont have the heart and soul of a acoustic double bass.

Eh. A $450 bass from Ebay is essentially a big box with weedwhackers. It works for playing Psychobilly because so much tone color is lost in the song itself, but something like, say, Classical or Jazz, really calls for something a bit higher up on the food chain.
