  • Very impressive Bodywork , thanks !!!

  • This form is very good, so compact and powerful keeping lots of defense and attack at the same time

  • Wow! That was powerful!

  • one secret shaolin kung fu. very impressive to me ..... salute them

  • this is my favorite traditional shaolin form

  • Remember I was here.Thai

  • his fajing is incredible. ive never seen anything like it in a shaolin form. i always thought shaoling tended to be more external and left qi with iron body. i guess not

  • This master has some very powerful strikes. I wish I have that kind of balance. His Shaolin style is short and beautiful. If you can figure out the permutation from every single movements, you can have a compact form with many variations on techniques. Add water and watch the many techniques from every movements.

  • Well, I wouldn´t even say that, I think it´s pretty stable. Can´t judge from this view though.

  • @34thshaolinstudent dudes almost 60 man, cut him a little slack. if your jammin like that at his age i'd tip my hat to you as well

  • very good

  • u now, this is my shi fu's freind. I think it is very cool to see him on youtube. and my shi fu lives in sweden there i live:) his name is Shi Yong Ting, so there name is very starts with the same....

  • every sholin monks is call SHI.

the second word dose means the genereation.

    xing=32, de=31.....

therd word is the name of the monk

  • this is a very powerfull taolu..the strikes are rock solid and have actual combat aplication unlike other taolus which are focused more on body condiotioning

  • what is your Si-Fu's English name? Maybe we know him, most instructors are listed on ShaoLin Temple books and we can find him. Most of the traditional ShaoLin forms are this speed and power. The modern competition WuShu forms are also good, just shouldn't be mixed with ShaoLin movement. If you have a good modern competition teacher he should be able to tell all of the martial applications and techniques so that your form doesn't look like you are just doing a gymnastic floor routine! Coach Li

  • This is not my Shi fu, however this msters name is Shi Yong Zhi. You will not find him in Song Shu Fan's books on Shaolin Gong Fu, however you will find him in many modern publications, i.e Justin Guariglia's: 'Shaolin Temple of Zen'.

  • is this the 7 star fist a.k.a cannon fist?

  • This is Seven Star Fist, 七 星 拳, Cannon Fist is a lot different and a lot longer too.

    Peace, Love and Happiness...

  • i have a question is 7 star fist a form by itself or is it also a style of kung fu

  • Qi Xing Quan, is a cery distinctive form within the Shaolin Temple system, the footwork of the from resembles the bei dou qi xing (Big Dipper Constellation).

Qi Xing Quan has it's own style compared to the other myraid of forms which are seen.

Hope this helps with your study.

    Peace Love and Happiness...

  • @shaolinculture yup it is a solid branch off the shaolin tree. same as mei hua

  • So are the real traditional shaolin forms supposed to be this slow or are only some this slow or is he just old? The younger monks now do everything hella fast. They do a lot of wushu too. Wushu is a very bad influence on traditional martial arts. We need to continue to pass on the traditional forms, not ever changing wushu crap

  • well this is usually the lay out of things. traditional forms are up to interpretation of the practitioner. when you are young you think everything needs to b as fast as possible. speed is good, but as u get older, you start thinking more about how precise and powerful are my movements. this is what shi yong zhi does. he makes sure everything has as much power as possible. also he goes slower for one BIG reason. qi gong. this reply is too long. look blow of the rest of it

  • yeh, I can see that he has a lot of power. I see the qi. I learned this form too, slightly differently though. But my teacher, a 32gen monk teaches it really fast but also powerful. I wouldn't say it looks like wushu exactly. I wish they would explain what the movements are for though.

  • who is your shifu? and ya every teacher wil teach it different. and ya this form looks far from wushu. and if they explained all the movements and what they were for on youtube, it wouldn't b a sacred form anymore. even the ppl that know the form mostly dont know what the movements are for. haha. i am actually dissecting it right now. trying to get every bit of knowledge out of it as i can. i usually pick a form i know every month and rip it apart. focus on nothing but that form for a month

  • I don't know my sifu's reall name, he goes by his english name. But it's very interesting that you try to disect the forms. I've tried but it's really hard to figure out what the moves are for because they are so artistic. I found that there is a lot of similarity between wing chun and the forms. Most of the forms always protect your center line. So why do they practice it if they don't know what the movements are for?

  • haha part 2.....ya with his qi gong, he goes into a meditative state while performing the set. here he tries to correlate his breath with his movements. this maximizes his power along with all the other great benefits of qi gong. its not cuz hes old. i have trained with him and he's freakin quick! find a video of him doing da hong quan. he concentrates on speed in this form a lot more

  • Real Shaolin has specific rhythm and breathing rhythms as well, and is not just "Fast" and "flashy" as all modern wushu shaolin is. Wushu has destroyed kung fu's effectiveness. Good to see good kung fu

  • i have the honor to know the world champion on this form he came with Shi Yong Kan to so some demonstrations, btw very nice video!

    :D Amitofo!

  • was his name Shi Yan Xin?

  • So the form is called Qi Xing Quan?

  • Yes, English "Seven Star Fist". We hope you enjoy!

    Peace, love and happiness.....

  • Shi Yong Zhi vociferates like no man I've seen on earth. He's Chong Quan can split a man's head in half no kidding. I like this man cuz he doesn't waist time doing ballet style u see nowadays in the temples. He seems to like styles such as; Qi Xing, Chang Hu Men, Meihua etc... which are all very powerful and realistic styles.

  • Thank you Shi Xiong, I strongly agree!

    Peace, Love and Happiness....

  • this is what shi dejian teaches wow i can not wait untill my trip to china to meet and learn from shi dejian

  • actually i believe its Xinyiba which is different from seven star but he is a good teacher nonetheless! much love

  • no this is most definitely qi xing quan. shi yong zhi is the master at this form. when disciples at the temple learn this form they learn it from him.

  • xin yi ba is the style in which the form is played

    look up shi de jian

  • wait...it was either this guy or Shi Yongxing that I thought was the master abbot of the shaolin temple at one time?

  • Shi Yong Xin, is the current Abbott of Shaolin Si, he is pushing Shaolin into the future, good or bad? Time will tell! Shi Yong Zhi is a master within and around Shaolin Si.

    Peace, love and happiness.

  • i met him in the shaolin temple on 9/2006. he is also a great calligrapher and a nice person. i am learning from his students and he said 2/3 of his kong fu was taugh by shi yong zhi. i hope one day he can come to usa.

  • Hey. I really like this, I don't know if I'd rather learn this or something internal like Xingyiquan. Could someone advise me here? Thanks! :D

  • you should learn Wing Chun

  • Never heard about this deadly style. Can You tell me a little?:)

  • Shi Yong Zhi is certainly closer to a monk than most. He is one of the main instructors at shaolin temple but he has his own school, Jing Wu Guan, near 'Yong tai si'. This is a nunnary down the road from shaolin temple. His school is very traditional, and the students although not monks maintain the same principles and learn buddhism.

  • Thank you for leaving this, I feel Shi Yong Zhi is an integral part in the growth of traditional Gong Fu, and I feel that more should know of him.

    Peace, love and happiness.

  • You're right, Yong Zhi is not a monk yet, and indeed, he is powerful. Are you in the temple shaolinculture?..btw, Thx for the video shaolinculture

  • Yong Zhi is more of a Shaolin monk than others who live inside the temple....lot of knowledge and a great person

    Peace

  • Strongly agree, however he is still a disciple and not a monk, a man of extraordinary power, I'm glad so many know about him!

    Peace, Love and Happinesss.

  • traditional,omitofu

  • Sow him around Shaolin, but I realy not sure if he is a Shaolin monk? Know that he was a national champion of traditional wushu only, but never seen him living in Shaolin si. Do you know fo sure?

    Thanks.

  • Shi Yong Zhi is a disciple, and instructor at Shaolin I think he lives nearby, although he may have a room within the Temple, I'm not too sure on him personally, but in my eyes he's one of the most powerful masters at Shaolin, his expression of energy goes far beyond a lot of the others I've seen, this video doesn't do him justice.

    Peace, Love, Happiness.

  • Thank You.

  • Is Shi Yong Zhi Your Shifu?

  • No, Shi Yong Zhi is in China, I'm in U.K our Shifu is of different generation. The video is of a demo I saw in 2004.

    Peace, love, happiness.
