I first discovered my love for Harry Potter when I was 10 years old. It was what kept me strong, what kept me sane, because Hogwarts would always be there to welcome me home. When I'm older, if I have children, as soon as they can read, I'll by them Harry Potter, give them the same magical childhood that I had myself. Harry Potter will always be in my heart, no matter how old I get or how old Harry Potter gets for that matter. Because Harry Potter will never truly end.

I hate that the Oscars completely ignored the Harry Potter finale. It's been an emotional roller coaster ride for so many people (including me); it's defined so many of us for the past 10 years. Even without the recognition, I will always love Harry Potter as I always have. But the Academy should know that things like this don't happen occasionally. It's unusual that everything in Harry Potter came together as brilliantly as it did. Harry Potter is once in a lifetime.

BREATH TAKING VIDEO! I'm a 21 year old American female and I remember reading Harry Potter when I was only 7 years old in school. To me a fan will always be a fan no matter what generation you where born in. However, it's sad knowing future generations won't get to grow up with the characters, anticipation for the next novel, or standing in lines with friends at midnight premieres. They'll still grow up reading the series, but will never truly understand it all. You captured this to perfection!

I am a 90's kid. Harry potter and the gang were my dear friends, McGonagle is my aunt, Dumbledoor my grandfather, Snape and sirrius my uncles. I read the books with love and devotion, and when It was time to turn the final page, I had tears in my eyes because I thought the magic was finally over... then, I realized, it is not over. I find this talk of the HP generation a bit confusing. So, what, kids who picked the books up in 2006 say, can't enjoy Harry Potter because they weren't born in the 90s? A fan is a fan, regardless of when you started reading.

@BrainyHufflepuff I don't think it is that they can't enjoy it. It is more that they did not experience every book/movies opening over the last 10 years. I have no doubt HP will be passed on through time, I just don't think (along with others) that they will have the same experience with HP that we had. These people (just picking up the books now) could become the biggest fans ever, but they just experienced it differently - they didn't grow up with it, or eagerly await it over the years! :)

@BrainyHufflepuff No, that's not the point at all (in my opinion anyway). Talking about a Harry Potter generation isn't trying to take away anything from newer fans, it's merely a connection. So many people grew up waiting for the next book, aching for the summer it would be released that, pretty much no matter who you are and where you are from, there's an instant familiarity and common element from our childhoods. It's celebrating the fact that a huge number of people are linked by this story.
