this isn't revelations. This is a piece called The Golden Section and isn't choreographed by Alvin Ailey. It is choreographed by Twyla Tharp.

Twyla Tharp wishes she had the genius and passion to choreograph this. I have seen this work many times, most recently I saw the finale performed at a memorial service for a friend of the Ailey company, and it never ceases to amaze me the power and emotion that these piece exudes.

You'll never see anything like this on SYTYCD- most of the choreographers for that show lack the years of technical dance training, and study of the craft of choreography, that made choreographers like Ailey, Limon, Tudor, and Balanchine. Of course, people who only know dance from a TV show are missing the real geniuses.

I saw Revelations when Ailey came to Kansas City and few years ago and it was AMAZING!!! I'm a hardcore ballet dancer and this was definitly the best performance I've ever seen. If you have the chance go and see it!
