  • @mrbrang00, i truely find luis cardenas a big rolemodel in my life, due to the happiness he shows in this video, and it is amazing that he was able to have such a huge drum kit that is insipiring

  • I remember when this song came out, altho the graphics look cheesy by todays standards, it was the dinosaurs were awsome back in the day. nothing like good music, doesnt mater what your mainstyle is, music is music, enjoy it!

  • does anyone think it is odd for a 16 year old metal drummer to love this song?

  • @sonofhorror1995 not at all, you will find most of your musicians that are successuful have allowed themselves to be open to all genre's of music, why limit yourself to one style,. and let me tell you, there was nothing like the 80's

  • I want this CD!!!! GREAT drummer and singer:)

  • Is it just me or is the dinosaur playing the bass playing a Rickenbacker 4001??

  • @Gecko7291971 Editor: All of the instruments played by the dinosaurs were miniatures of brands associated with Luis and his fellow Renegade band mates. While the bass guitar does look like a Rickenbacker, Luis and Renegade endorsed and played B.C. Rich Guitars exclusively. In fact, the entire band was very close with Bernie Rico, Sr., and remain close to Bernie, Jr. to this day. Bernie, Jr. has a fine handcrafted line of guitars today that are definitely reminiscent of the original B.C. Rich.

  • @alliedartists oh, OK, i assumed it was a Rickenbacker 4001 due to the shape of the Headstock

  • Now I'm not a drummer, but I'd do anything to own Luis' Drum kit in this video

  • I am sooooo glad you put this on. For years I remembered a version of run away with dinosaurs in the video. No one knew what I was on about. Sanity proven! :D

  • Yeah, finally found this, been searching for years, could never remember the artist, but the clip stuck in my head...cool dinosaurs

  • Love this video from my uncle Lu it's my all time fav....

  • hes my uncle

  • hes my uncle

  • luis did voice and drums?

    or did he did all?

  • @Kudan26 From Editor: This video is from a solo album released by Luis Cardenas, in which he performs all lead vocals and the majority of the backup vocals. He of course plays all percussion, including steel drums on every song on the album.

  • G-D I want that drum set and I don't even play the drums.

    I'm a bass player

  • blast from the past and oh yes damn it's soo gud

  • Great message in this vid..when your girl dumps you go and rock your balls off!!!!

  • I saw this once 25 years ago and it may not have entered my consciousness again till today when I pulled up Chilli Peppers version..This is so incredibly cheesy, that being said a tiny void in my life has been filled... forget Del, was that Donny Osmond calling the cops!?!?

  • i dont like the cheesy "whoo" he does to the cam at 1:40, otherwise great video and song

  • What year was this?

  • I think a re-release is in order.

I don't know about the rest of the world but in the UK not many got to hear it but all those who did loved it.

  • This was done by The Chiodo Brothers who also created the movie Killer Klowns From Outer Space

  • WOW! That's was the word I gave this video when I saw it first-run on MTV. I was never able to ID the performer, so I was never able to get the video itself. I have wanted to see this again for so long -- THANK YOU!

  • omg..i remember when my cuz taped this song for me when i little because i was so into dinosaurs :)

  • yes it was

  • i just wish i could have the album "Animal Instinct" on cd ..... contacted Allied , and Nothing .....I have the vinyl/cassette of it .... But gotta be CD !!!!!

  • Wow, I love this video, I was like 10 or something when I first seen it. Still very cool. :)

  • awesome, AWESOME video one of the best cover songs ever done

  • AHHHHH Donny Osmond was in this!!!

  • Without words... amazing.

There's something special about a 75 piece drum set.

  • Call me crazy, but was that Del playing the cop at the end?

  • Editor: Yes, that is Del Shannon at the end and it was the last video he was in prior to his death.

  • When was this video made? Del sure looked good there.

  • That WAS Del Shannon as the cop...and Donny Osmond was the guy in the window

  • Yep, that most Certainly was Del Shannon as the cop at the end of the video

  • It might seem sad but this is the version of this song I heard on TV.. and I still love IT!!!!

  • I remember this being previewed for the first time on a BBC2 show called ' NO LIMITS ' which made the tv presenter Jenny Powell famous back in 1986. Priceless

  • what yr did this come out 85 or 86?

  • I favorited this video even though its a little pop for my taste. I like it because it just brings back great memories of wheni was younger and when mtv was a kool channel.also he is a good drummer.singer

  • Cutest man alive. I love how multitalented he is! He is even hotter now!

  • Thank you so much for posting this! It's such a rare find!

I used to have it recorded on an old VHS tape with a bunch of other stuff, but it's gotten pretty worn out.

  • he was on dance fever guitar drummer777

  • Still one of my favorite videos. Love the cameos of Donny Osmond (in the window), and the late Del Shannon himself (as the cop).

  • Love Luis' version of this classic song- He breathed "new life" into an old song we all know...I have the 45 rpm of this song- so glad to see the video- what an awesome job done on the video !!

  • I remember this vid from when I was about 10 and loved it so much, it just never left my mind, my dad even recorded it on the top loading vcr lol. I just love listening to it, it takes me back to a life of no worries or cares in the world.

  • I first saw this when I was about 12 years old, and have never forgoten it, as it is one of those videos that sticks in your memory. FANTASTIC.

  • One of the best music video's ever, CLASSIC

  • Does anyone know who the guy is at the end that says "hey look we got the gig"? Is that the same guy that's in the Dance Fever video?

  • No he wasn't in Dance Fever, he was a member of Renegade in 1985-86.

  • Yup, this is truly a classic video. The Making of Runaway documentary is very interesting. It's great seeing this video in high def!

  • fantastic guy 1 of the best videos eva made he sang an everythin on this

  • I love this freakin song, Um more then the Del Shannon cut. Sorry Del - RIP.
