Is it common procedure for the police to request that an arrested suspect empty their own pockets? Such an action would seem inherently dangerous, as many handguns are of a size small enough to be concealed in a pocket.

I am a cop. After the suspects are placed into wrist restraints they ar searched. Most officers will leave personal property in the suspects possession unless it is illegal or harmful.  This is done to prevent the suspect from accusing the officer of stealing property.

Don't focus on procedure but focus on the intent.

This being just another example that the majority of the prison population are believers, with nonbelievers being in just a single digit percentage. (Not to say that all believers are prison bound, but you can check the FBI and CIA statistics and see for yourself.)
