My name is Macy Ferguson-Smith and Willie Mae was my great grandmother. This is so surreal to see my dad (the guy on the far right with the big head lol) and my family on YouTube.
@Mace21fly Wow! Macy, you come from a rich musical heritage, I hope you have kept up that heritage. Do any members of you family still sing? Is your dad still alive? God bless you all.
Mother Smith really did live the life she sang about, and she helped and inspired so many other gospel singers. I wish I could have met her. I know I'll meet her some day in the next life. God bless her and her ministry--she's reaping her rewards in heaven.
I like this song. Oh, just looking at the late"Mother" sing this song gives me so much inspiration and thoughts to what it would be like reaching the place God would have me to be. Again, I just love listening to the late"Mother"sing.
The great thing about the gospel singer then is that they really live the life they sang about, It wasnt about a show or who could out sang who but when they ministered they gave you a hope. I'm young buti would prefer this gospel over some of this we have today.
I appreciate how you loop the videos. These are so great, you know we are just going to hit replay anyway! At least you loop them so we don't have to hit replay as often:)
Update: I've just received a response to my inquiry. Both William and Jacqueline passed away, within months of one another. The person who responded did not know the exact year this occurred.
@San47di Bertha and Mother Smith died very close together, I think within days or weeks of eachother, in the same nursing home. If you buy or rent the 25th Anniversary DVD, it's in the director's comments. I don't know about her grandson. I have always wondered about him. I wish I could find more on Zella Jackson Price too.
lord have mercy, mother ford!!! willa mae ford is the gospel truth -- undiluted and undisputed. you just don't have the real history of gospel music without her.
I bet she was and is a beautiful woman and person..may she always be with Jesus..

@Ministerdlyne I miss real gospel. When it was strictly about ministry. The lyrics were real and you can tell they were anointed.
