  • Oh well I guess you just cant make everybody happy!

  • i agree with judgey75 should have been in the landing net a long time ago ...i dont care what this guy thinks.i lost count of the amount of times that the fish rolled on the surface

  • fishing with float (strike indicator) is fishing to f..king amaters !

  • Flagrant fowl.

  • 1:04 -- Unreal water color.

  • Hope the Falcon was unharmed. They're endangered and protected. One heck of a beautiful bird.

  • @ducttapewireandglue Yes Falcon OK...it was pretty random and not set up. I am quite lucky as I get to see NZ falcons on a very regular basis and you are right the are awesome birds!

  • why do you even need a net when you drill the fish to its dead anyway?

  • @slugavesslan Thanks for your comments again. There are various factors when it comes to successfully landing fish - the lay of the terrain to be able to actually get the net to the fish, strength of tippet used, weight of rod used, skill level of the angler and a few other factors. We took the first proper opportunity to get the fish into the net with out losing it and the fish was well looked after once netted and swam away vigorously with no harm done to the fish.

  • great to hear. very nice fish and beautiful water! NZ is definitely on the top of my list one day to target big browns. once again congrats

  • i have been fly fishing my whole life. i know how it works. watching the video shows you had plenty of opportunities to land the fish. i realize this is your first fish in moving water but overplaying a fish will result in the build up of lactic acid in the fish and will stress it more than needed. once you get the fish close enough and get its head raised you should try to net it asap to avoid harm. if you were with a qualified guide he should have been aware of this. nice fish.

  • @judgey75 wow ive never seen water as blue as that. beautiful river you got there.

  • put down the camera and net the fish instead of tiring it to death

  • @judgey75 thats how fly fishing works. you have to fight the fish untill it is too tired to fight, then you bring it un. you would probably break your line or even worse your rod if you just try to sling your fish in like a normal fishing rod.

  • pretty good size fish

  • Que lástima que no haya sido devuelta al agua :(

  • amazing indeed!

  • This was a guided trip with Simon. The amazing part of the video is that Simon got the NZ falcon attack on video. This was my first trout on a fly rod in NZ and my first trout in moving water. The trout are spotted and then fished. My casting skills were stretched and Simon was patient :)

  • this is an amazing place and crystal clear water. You are a hell of a lucky man...by the way good catch.
