wow man...at the very least get a culping saw, find a vice, a chisel, and you can shape a good portion of it like this, then get a good carving knife, then sand it. i've never carved a pipe, but this was my idea of how the process went. not sanding forever and then putting a steak knife to it. ridiculous
@youllregretit this was my first attempt at carving, i was unaware how hard briar wood is, the end product is awesome. the second pipe i did turned out a lot better...
@palotin07 absolutely...and I mean that. i have yet to view your channel so i don't know if you know already but you've stumbled into the Youtube Pipe smokers' club.
@genericsoul You're an idiot, tobacco is soo dumb, worse for you than Marijuana - Worse feeling than Marijuana - Worse tasting than Marijuana. They should globally illegalize tobacco, and globally LEGALIZE cannabis (PS: You're a dumbass)
@shinigamirul thanks, i just get in the zone imagining what it's gonna look like and just keep going until it does what i want it to do...check out my other pipe carving vids
Poor man's workshop: Electric drill clamped in bench vice, various drills and reamers, disk sander, buffing wheel...It's a good start to a great hobby. Might I suggest "Penzance" tobacco from Esoterica... awesome!!
you shoulda used a saw(not a wheelsaw... like a saw zaw but one that looks like a milling machine) to start off and cut around where you drew your outline... when i was in 8th grade i had a class and i made a co2 powered car and it came as a block and i had to sand it down but the teacher cut around my outline before i sanded it
there's lots of "shoulda's" on here but what no one really took note of was that i carved and finished my pipe without all that extra expense. pipe #2 is on the way soon.
for those of you suggesting i use a wood rasp you should know i don't have one nor do i find it necessary. it may come in handy but i'm happy with my dremel tool. it does everything i need it to
Wouldn't it be much more comfortable to start with a rasp instead of sand paper? I've just seen the videos of alphaqlater and he explains how he carved his first two pipes.

All that is missing is the bailing wire and duct-tape. Stick to the copper & brass parts you can get at the hardware stores for your pipes.
