Hi, i knw this has probably been asked, but what shocks did you use? also, what kinda of material is the body made from? Steel? Aluminum? I know its pipe but whats the type or pipe? ID, OD? I am looking for an engine this weekend to start my project soon.
@01jeepgcIve seen a reverse gear for projects like sportbike engined cars, their rated up to 500hp and run around 1k, but you can also run 6 gears in reverse!
@01jeepgcIve seen a reverse gear box for projects like sportbike engined cars, their rated up to 500hp and run around 1k, but you can also run 6 gears in reverse!
@01jeepgc if you dont want to spend a butt ton of money on a reversing gear box {quaife etc} get the primary chain reversing setup off a snow mobile. easy peasy! cheap too. Just need to do a little mods, nothing big.
Looks like a sweet build, I am planning on doing a one or two seater mini sand rail to drag race at the dunes. I found a 280hp @ 10,000rpm 1000cc two stroke engine that weighs less than 100Ibs all set up for a centrifugal clutch. As long as I can keep my build close to 1000Ibs there should be nothing at the dunes that can keep up.
I'm tellin you man, making these video's give's sooo many people hope of building something like this. I'm betting your a lot of people's hero right now. Right on, fantastic job. (*****)
I am in love with your trailing arms/drive shaft set up. You just made my day because you fixed the problem I have with my projects plans. It is specced for dual A arm rearand I see nothing but problems with that.
hey im building a buggy simular to that one and im just kinda stumped on axles was gonna go with 930 cvs but i like your set up way better just wondering what kind of axles those are and if you designed your suspension yourself
I used a 14 series u joint and slip yoke for the drive shafts. they use a 1 3/8" shafting. I had to drill and tap 5 more set screw to ensure they would not move on wheel stub shafts. I have had good luck with them they only cost around 300 for the whole set up.compared to 1500+ for 930 CV's most farm stores have them in stock.
man that shit is rad...... one problem i dont know any of those things can u explain in detail how exactlly you did it im going to build my own sand rail at my school for my welding class
@gavenschwarze1 toyota car axles are pretty the standard for this sort of thing. Much less weight than the driveshaft setup seen on this car, and MUCH better angle out of the cv's single ujoint setup is not at all ideal, and you dont get much angle out of before they bind. 930's are the way too go, but pricey esp once u get into hubs and stuff. Just take the rear end out of a old supra. diff, cv axles, hubs everything you need right there. extend the axles with tubing.
dude that is a beautiful build i need some plans for mine i have a 110cc powered motor for mine it sounds bad ass but i need a bad ass looking sand rail to go aound the motor.
NICE BUILD! Saw the ohio plate in tool box. Nice to see some more ohio boys with sand capable toys! Check out centerburg sand on youtube. We go up about 4 times a year.
hey can you send me schematics?i wanna do a project at school for my welding class.

Do you have a reverse gear on that bad boy. We built a custom buggy but we need to figure out a reverse gear. Can you help us?
01jeepgc 1 year ago
@01jeepgc try a starter from a car and have a large gear water jet cut out that can bolt to your drive line
Midwestfabrication 10 months ago
@01jeepgc Check out my page if your trying to figure out how to do a Gear Driven reverse, much more practical than a eletric starter.
