neat, but I have a question - not trolling, honest question: this is a small displacement engine (presumably), how hard must it be tuned to get this kind of HP/TQ? If I owned a skyline, I think I would have to weigh power versus longevity, mainly b/c I am not rich and can't afford to replace or rebuild the engine every two weeks... but this seems to be a pretty common thread, skylines with massive HP... just curious

@danzeger its a 2.6L straight 6 (RB26DETT) the block can handle the power but the internals would need to be replaced. for this power id say itd cost over $20,000 in parts/labor, not including the car. This obviously isnt a daily driver and you wouldnt want 1000hp in a daily driver, itd be very high maintenance. You could get 400-500hp easily under 10 grand ontop of the car which wouldnt need rebuilding for a very long time unless the person who tuned it is shit.

What's wrong with turbos? I myself am more of a muscle guy, but I dont like superchargers. I mean, theyre alright, but if you can find the right turbo for your car, it will surpass the supercharger in just about every way. Plus, have you ever seen turbo-charged muscle cars? Because of the high-displacements, there's little to no turbo lag and they make INSANE HP/Torque figures. But, do as you may, it's your car. But don't you dare tell me about your "500 HP civic," I won't care. :)

@arcticmonkey487 Well that kinda depends on the supercharger. Some aren't as loud as others and don't always sound like, as you said, "a dying cat." Hahaha. Turbos have that interesting "jet engine" sound which is fun. I personally don't have a vehicle to call my own at the moment but my uncle owns a 96 or so eclipse turbo and when it spools up, it's quite exhilarating. :P I'm tryin to get my hands on a 1970-71 Challenger and build that sexy beast to run under 10 seconds at least. :D

@Maticus07 if you have never owned a car, a 10 second challenger would not be smart. start small, integra, ford probe, etc then work your way up to the fast stuff. when you first start tuning, 14 secs will feel pretty quick. that is, if you are just starting.

And all he did was launch. A 600hp and a 1000hp gtr on street would launch at the same rate. I'll take this guys word on it, but I can gurantee you on street with street tires a 6,7,8,900 to 1000+ horse gtr launches almost identically. With vht and/or dr theres more noticable launch differences.
