  • According to the notes on the album "Night Moves," "Mainstreet" was backed by the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section not the Silver Bullet Band.

  • one of my all time favorite songs

  • 12 people need an 8 track smacked up side their head. This song effin ROCKS!

  • This song never ever gets old! Bob Seger is the most wonderful gift the music industry will ever have! Love him! :D

  • One of the lost treasures of American Music with out a doubt ..... brought here by listening to an Eric Clapton song that featured Marcy Levy... well she was in Bob Seger's band first!

  • top gear,,. nice .. i think.

  • Top Gear brought me here

  • I must agree. What a great tune and what a great time in my life...memories......

  • This is one of my favorite songs by Bob Seger

  • @eyeofset My favourite by him along with You'll Accomp'ny Me.

  • its is such a good song.

It is showing my life like all his sings (against the wind, like a rock, ...)

  • RIGHT ON !! WHAT GREAT MEMORIES.THANKS..

  • Happy Birthday Bob Seger!

  • Saw his concert in Tulsa last night I have waited my adult life for him to come to Tulsa - my life is complete - this song made me cry ! I couldn't believe I was actually hearing / watching him sing it - the song will be even more special to me now !!!

  • I love Bob Seger! Here's my favorite Seger tune!

  • funny how many songs this man wrote that plp can relate too. Gotta love it!

  • so sweet.

  • They dont make singers like Bob Segar, and Bruce Springsteen anymore...what a cryin shame

  • Who else can do a song about a stripper and invoke this kind of emotion.

  • Where's my long lost tape??? Damn, memories!!!

  • Try hanging out on any corner nowadays..lol...I feel sorry for kids today...we have to lighten up a little bit as a country...

  • Back yard BBq's. Summer in the U.P. Drinking a few beers with good friends...... its all Bob Seger. American, as Tiger Baseball at "The Corner" of Michigan and Trumbull.

  • THAT WAS GREAT!!!! WOW I LOVED IT.. HE IS THE MAN AND I WILL SEE HIM AGIN IN MO. IN 2011..

  • 65 years old and Bob is still out there rocking!!

  • I can visualize this song's scenarios in my head... and I am a woman, and I've never been to Mainstreet... That's how good Bob is... All Hail...

  • What a soulful rendition of what every young man feels about women, yearning.....and wanting and not having.

  • this set the standard.....

  • Love it..close the eyes and drift and the song just slides around inside the mind...

  • Bob Seger is a legend! In my mind he doesn't get the credit or recognition he deserves. So many great songs, and they all kind of take you away to another place.

  • Oh man, there's nothin better! close your eyes...... you can be 16 again... not that I'd want to repeat all the mistakes I made between then and now :) but it sure feels good to go back for a moment................ I'm riding in a beautiful '57 Chevy with my first boyfriend, he looks exactly like Elvis, no really, he took chicks' breath away at the beach! Those were the days...........

  • American Icon, Epic Tune, Luv it!

  • When all the shitbox artists of today can evoke emotions from a tune like Seeger can, they can move way up in class....

  • My favorite Bob Seger song ,, I am 15 again .

  • Great song...great pics...thanks for posting:)

  • AWESOME!!

  • This song was probably the most played song on the jukebox at the local pool-hall where I hung out as a teenager back in the 70's. Great song. Great memories.

  • Main Street Ann Arbor, Michigan, where Bob seiger came from.

Thank God he didn't go to folk music like he initaly wanted. My uncle John, Dan Yager and the boys were the origonal band in Highschool.

  • The tune puts a little tear to my eye.

  • Who is the Michael Moore look-a-like at the beginning (0:16), anybody know?

  • Michael More looks the same now as he did when he was in high school my mom showed me a yearbook photo of him. She said "He was an idiot who plagerised all his work then and now."and he still couldn't find all the facts."

  • How many songs can actually make you feel as if you are traveling to another place in time in your life when you here it? this is one of them..a classic !

  • Yep me too...funny how we age ...

I am turning 50 in a week and remember this as a young girl. Wow Bob is white hair. I still drool over him as a kid.

  • Yes, Dok, Pete Carr is the same guy as Jesse Willard Carr. He was also in a studio group called SaIlcat who had an album on Electra Records in 1972 and a hit with a song called Motorcycle Mama.

  • does anyone have a vid of how to play this song on the guitar??

  • nice pics brother

  • The lead guitar player on this sounds a little like Duane Allman (at least in the tone of his playing). Outstanding solo - you can remember every note of it.

The guitarist is Jesse Willard Carr who played bass and guitar with Duane and Gregg Allman in the Hourglass before becoming a session player with Muscle Shoals in Alabama.

  • Is "Jesse Wikkard Carr" not better known as Pete Carr?

  • i just love this song ''''

  • I love this song - anyone know how Seger is doing these days?

  • this is a great song!musicans now days don't make good songs like this anymore

    .

  • Santa Claus sighting at 2:39!

  • This song always reminds me of my Uncle, rest his soul. It was at my Uncle Lennys house in Detroit,my Aunts husband, and they where kinda hippies and he worked at Detroit Edison. He had some old cars from the 60's in his driveway. Man this song always brings me back there. Rest In Peace Uncle Lenny.

  • I can remebering being 17; it was 1977 this sing had just come out. I was young over horny sailor. In aka ports after the bars well they were always down on MAINE STREET!!

  • heard this song many times in the pool halls and bars back when I was in my twenties..what a great time..this is some of the best music ever made imo...

  • HE IS TO HOT FOR WORDS

  • No1 can Stand KID ROCK!!!!! He's just trying to get a FREE RIDE!!! SEGER ROCKS TOTALLY!!

  • I used to call and request this song on the radio every friday afternoon when I was alone closing down the shop. The DJ always played it

  • "Pool halls and the hustlers /losers!" They don't even have pool halls around here anymore. Town council said there was too much trouble at them so they closed the last one! Guess they'll close the city pool next, then the park, maybe the public restrooms! Rumor was there was gambling going on! Imagine that when you can count the town's elite driving 30 miles to the next state to buy lottery tickets!

  • liberals and consevatives along with their politics are destroying this country.

  • Lovely song, makes me want to relive the 70's and 80's but, hey we can't do that right?

Best we can (or I at least) is keep the memories alive and drink more beer!

  • No-one could have said it better than you did! I agree with you 100%...

  • Has anyone ever here of Seagars classic --" Ship of Fools" ? If so me and a miilion other fans would love to have it posted -Thanks

  • Splendid , glorious , great...... music! Yes,I know it is true , but I only say:

    Music,strait from the heart.Thanks!

  • when i listen to music like this, i'm almost positive i was born in the wrong generation. growing up with this would have been the best.

  • I know exactly how you feel man.. I feel like I was born after my time...

  • wow. i thought i ws the only one. i guess theres alot of us. i hate the music of today. its not music. its smut. this is gold. If i was alive i the 80's it woulda been perfect. the 80's.......ahhhhh......i wish i coulda been there. i am positive i was born in the wrong generation. but at least we still have the music

  • We are all getting older...including Bob.

  • @tinklebell208 Lots of tears ... Lost loves and good times..... Lost it all "Down on Main street".... Thankyou Mr. Seger...

  • @tinklebell208 it evocks memories i wish i had that others seem to have

  • I really don't care about his sexaul desires. I saw him back in 1980 and his concert was the best I had ever seen, and I had seen alot at that time of my life. So he may or may not be gay, what does that have to do with his music?d

  • its a non-issue.

he's loved for his music, end of story.

  • I have grown up with the great music of Bob Seger...I was told from my husband that he came out and said he is gay...Please tell me it is not true!!!I will still love his music only it shocking to hear that. Thanks

  • His Main Street was in Ann Arbor Michigan.

  • Damn good song

  • You want to know something?

The song was once called the name "Gainestreet" in my hometown Tallahassee and it was played at The Warehouse.

  • honestly a true legend in rock

  • My brother once played volleyball with Bob Seger. I don't know if this is his best but I like it.

  • did he shower with him afterwards?

  • no, not unless my brothers lying to me.

  • I normally hate these compilations but you have some really nice photos here and the whole thing somehow captures the spirit of the man's life and times. I went to school with the son of one of his drummers back in the day...
