How did they know that something like this happened, they all died in the end, and a big thing in the film is that they dont have any radio contact? It's based on a very vague story..
Look out for 'I Shouldn't Be Alive' - Perfect Storm episode. Premiering on Animal Planet US 2nd November 2011. 20th anniversary of the real 'Perfect Storm'!
I don't know how well it's explained in the movie, but in the book it's made clear that the choice they made is what 90% of captains would have done. In any other circumstances it would have worked out, but the timing and intensity of this storm as well as the sheer unpredictability of the sea and rogue waves were really unfortunate.
@KellyGreen5555 lol, why are you trying to act smart by saying i have no comprehensive skills haha, your comment clearly says, 'so they act reckless, get in trouble and die?' regardless of what you said earlier you illiterate cunt
@KellyGreen5555 if you were in this fucking boat you would start crying and wait for your fucking death. why god didn't you took "KellyGreen5555" instead of these 6 guys?!?!?!?!
@theoGnRfan I wouldn't have been "in this fucking boat" to begin with...Your last "sentence" is poorly constructed...just like the leaky script for "The Perfect Storm."
What really, really impressed me, have seen the movie three times, read the book once, was that when the shit came down, they guys stood together as one to save each other.
I was at Channel Island Air National Guard Base IN CALIFORNIA when they shot this movie. The scene where the aircrew run to the Helicopter was on the flightline next to my hangar. Then a couple months later was at Pt Mugu next door when the shot Pearl Harbor.
@TeddyFierceGlamorous Not until this year. It was so moving....mostly because I know the events are true, and Gloucester is so close to my heart. It was hard to imagine a storm with that kind of power, but I've seen pictures of boulders the size of SUV's that were thrown ten or more feet over by Bass Rocks, so I know it was a really intense storm.
@CUPCAKEXIII I was born on the night this storm was taking place! The police had to take my parents to the hospital they wouldn't let them drive! Lmao!
You guys are talking about drowning...if you get a chance, you should read the book this movie was based on (The Perfect Storm, by Sebastian Junger[?]). A fantastic read, and the author, a journalist, talks a lot about what we who have never drowned can know about drowning from those who almost did.
@Darkknight6957 I agree. I almost drowned this year at my summervacation on a Spanian Island. It was so scaring, and I was so hopeless among some huge waves that kept pulling me under and hitting over me. A man I didn't know saved me, and he's probably the reason I'm still here :-) Drowning is my absolute worst fear of dying.
@Rossco139 Drowning to death doesnt take as long as bleeding to death can take, and bleeding to death is mega painful. Drowning would suck though don't get me wrong.
@jasonwalden When you're bleeding to death, at least you're not struggling and trying to live, you know you're already dead, and you can have time to accept that. As far as I'm concerned pain is that big of a deal, after a little while your bodies anti-pain stuff kicks in and it'll go numb. when you're drowning you're in an environment where you can't breath(obviously lol) but you're lungs start to feel like they're on fire and you're totally in panic and driven crazy by thatpossibilityoflife
Nice movie..Bravo.

Movies like this were really good.
Now everything they make is just so predictable.
