  • miranda july finds a way to show us life and death with such simplicity.

this is such a beautiful passage

  • Funny line: "The best thing for that fish would be he just could drive steadily foreverrr"

But of course the fish would then starve to death

Actually saving the fish would probably risk sacrificing human life.

  • /watch?v=skiurM5jS3g

This is the music. Enjoy :)

  • I didn't know I would be so emotionally devastated by the death of a goldfish.

  • amazing.

  • Oh, was this supposed to be deep? I thought it was a comedic scene. Huh.

  • @kklollypop can't it be both?

  • Some people forget about love (gold fish), others don't know they have a love (gold fish), while others only witness it die

  • guys.... c'mon

it's like the bag scene in american beauty

it's like the frog scene in magnolia

easy and pop way to turn over our emotions.

Good, ok, but are you sure you can call it "poetry"?

in my opinion, poetry is 1000km deeper....

  • love this scene.

  • i think im the only person who dosnt get the point of this its a fish

  • @DJN0W this is just how I took it in, so its just my opinion. But I think they're trying to show the importance of life, how life should be respected regardless of it being a human being or a goldfish.

  • This movie is better than monopoly Dynamite.

  • well as soon as she was in front of the car her dumbass should of gradually slowed down

  • The song is "Goldfish" by Michael Andrews, btw.

  • this movie...............is superduperfuckingamazing and i love it forever. like the poop.

  • One of the best moments that conveys utter futility I've seen in a long, long time.

  • jellyghost is a douche bag

  • i love this.

  • They really half-assed that rescue attempt.

  • What is the name of the song?

  • @Schrute19 Goldfish, by Michael Andrews.

  • this could be a badass car commercial

  • Just excellent...

  • that was great.

  • LOL. good one.

  • The music is just simply.... "Amazing"..

  • wth....its just a fish lol

  • @vespaman101 you miss the point.

  • @Zorb28 i was just giving you shit, plus other people were saying "why is this so emotional for me" and duh it's actually a really cool metaphor... people always want love to last forever, to live forever, etc. we all struggle with that

  • @Zorb28 it's a metaphor, dumbass

  • This soundtrack is awesome.

  • wow. i'm sad. what an amazing scene.

  • amazing! i loved this

  • lol

  • I love this scene. And how emotional it is.

  • One of the best movie of all...

  • oh gosh levi

  • is this a movie or a show!?! when did it start showing. whats it about? ive never heard of it before!!!

    also poor fish

  • @Jazzman7893

It's a movie called "Me and You and Everyone We Know". Directed and written by the actress driving the Elder Cab, Miranda July. Great movie. Really unique.

  • I never knew such a little part of life could mean so much! T_T

  • "At least they know... At least we're all together in this..."

Ahahaha! This movie is so pretentious and self-important.

  • :')

  • I think this scene is talking about life and death.

  • this has got to be the loveliest film. thanks for posting.

  • test

  • When I first saw this I cried like a big dumb ass. Miranda July knows how to mess with your head.

  • When I first saw this I cried like a big dumb ass. Miranda July knows how to mess with your head.

  • Beginning of the movie and I was already crying lol.

  • @Apoc897 Why do you say that?

  • @Apoc897 Good response.

  • This is heartbreaking. :'(

  • I love Michael Andrews' "Goldfish"

  • anyone know where i can find this movie?

  • I saw this movie the other day and last night I had a dream that I left my taco bell on top of the trunk of my friends car and i was sitting in the backseat freaking out like they are and he freaked out too and sped up and it fell off

  • SO glad this is online. I LOVE this scene.

  • the song is where are we going performed by ryeland allison, but i cannot find it anywere...

  • wat song playyysss at the enddd

  • It's actually called "Goldfish" and it's composed and performed by Michael Andrews. He did the whole soundtrack...Ryeland Allison was only a performer on the song "Where Are We Going." You can download the soundtrack pretty much anywhere (iTunes, Amazon, etc.).

  • Michael Andrews is pure magic, best know for his work in Donnie Darko. Here is a better sounding version of Goldfish plus another link to an eerie but beautiful piece by him called The Artifact and Living.

Actually just type in " "Michael Andrews Goldfish" in youtube. And for 'The Artifact and Living', the title and then look for the one posted by kkrat. That one is higher quality. I also love the one with the railroad posted by cockeyedcharlie.

  • LOL

  • That was actually sad...poor fishies.

  • such a fantastic scene. i love the fact that the fish's life was so important to them

  • this is legitimately heartwrenching

  • I actually cried out "Noooo!!!" when the fish fell... so sad... :'(

  • i did the same exact thing! haha

  • lmao... funny scene.

  • I cry at this scene.

  • im not the emotional type and i CANT understand why this music makes me cry

  • Good movie.

  • This is Love, Universal Love

  • those words seem to fit the scene so well.

Lovely film, I went to see it about 4 times

  • as much as i like this scene its slightly hard for me to believe that had they not forced the second car which has the goldfish on to slow down by braking the goldfish would not roll away from the edge of the car due to inertia and therefore live. this kind of upsets the scene for me because its unbelievable how none of the people realize that. everything great is not without its flaws i suppose

  • stfu, its a movie

  • I bought it.

  • This is a great film. Miranda July wrote it, directed it and starred in it.

  • I have never heard of this movie.but this was a great piece of work.and it probably has a deeper meaning than i think.

  • best movie scene in the world.

  • watch more movies

  • Why can't they slow down very gradually? The fish didn't fall when they accelerated, why would it fall when they decelerate?

  • inertia

  • AWESOME. gotta see this movie

  • wow..

  • lmfao

  • one of the most touching scenes I have ever seen. I am deeply moved by this.

morels are subjective s well, but I never thought about it like that. thnks for the POV

  • but still the moral of this scene is, people around you are controlling your destiny

  • it's an earthling...we are all in this together

  • que manera tan hermosa y respetuosa de relatar la inevitable muerte.

  • oh my gosh where can i get this movie. This movie looks like it would be sweet!

  • poor fish :(

  • fucking sweet vid

  • That's so sad...

  • R.I.P Goldfish .....

  • When I saw this movie I felt like the goldfish. I still do sometimes. Not two lost souls in a fish bowl but one lost soul in a water bag.

  • Michael Andrews - goldfish

  • I really want to know what the song is towards the end.

  • I don't know the name of the song, but the author is Michael Andrews. Great film.

  • poor fish.

  • ha, that is funny.

  • Can't people feel something for a goldfish? It's all about simplicity. Even a goldfish falling off a car invokes a response. That's what filmmaking is all about.

So you can stop criticizing people for not sharing your taste.

  • I suppose you think Paul McCartney's Eleanor Rigby was boring and meaningless too. But I realize you were only trolling. Which is itself an expression of loneliness. Welcome to the goldfish club, and just keep driving man.

  • i want to poop back and forth

  • MIRANDA JULY

the first time i heard that name was in a tribute speach about everything christina would miss when she left me here left us all here to go spread her wings and start a nest for a great life.

this is a wonderful, talented woman. just like christina, she doesn't even relize it. i think thats what makes it so beautiful, the ignorance underneath.

  • i was at my friend's house, and we were watching this movie.

    She'd never seen it before.

I started crying, and i was so embarrassed.

This is a beautiful movie, and i don't know why most movies aren't this good.

It made me happy, yet sad, this deep, deep sadness, deep, deep happiness.

  • It is amazing what a talented person can do with such a simple idea.

  • This part is sooo raw... DeeP

  • it's so sad...but it happens every day that animals get hurt and killed, in this way or in another

  • i ono why but i cried =[

  • "A good thing for that fish is if he could just drive steadily..forever."

  • love this part

  • That fish would not survived on the hood under the sun in real life. :( Poor fish!!! I cried. :(

  • How can a scene about a gold fish be so incredibly moving?

  • Listen to the dialogue.

  • Its the dialogue along with them showing a respect for life.

  • i looovee this part of the movie

  • i got that album on my mp3 player, tickled to tears

  • so nice this movie!

  • why is this movie rated r?

  • Umm, have you seen the other videos? Like "poop back and forth" or "which ones better?". Then you'll know why.

  • where's which ones better? I can't find it :(

  • Actually it's called who's better, and it's right in the related videos box.

  • This is so beautiful, it hurts.

  • what is this movie rated?

  • it is rated r.

  • miranda july is a fascinating human being.

  • yes she is!! i love her!

  • i love this movie and the music.

but i cryed when the little girl had to watch her fish go. :'(

  • oh my god.. i cryed..

  • this is not fair, not fair at all :(

  • the fish represents her:)

  • yeah, amazing funny and sad. I went to see her at a book reading. It was really crowded so i couldn't get in the bookstore. When she got on the stage she said something like "oh no, all those people who can't get in... IM ROOTING FOR YOU GUYS!"

  • I love this scene, I cried like a baby

  • Nice upload :) Me and You and Everyone We Know is one of my fave films of all time :)

  • omg that was brilliant.

  • wow...just wow...

  • I want to cry... but I don't know why!

  • LOL agreed

  • wow.

  • this movie was absolutely amazing. i didnt know whether to laugh, cry, or just stare. absolutely incredible.

  • i find it quite comedic that a goldfish can be used to provoke those kind of emotions, amazing movie, and brilliant scene.

  • the song is "Goldfish" by Michael Andrews

  • lovably absurd

  • what is that song at the end.

  • the song is "Goldfish" by Michael Andrews

  • such a nice mix of comedy and sadness in this scene. love it. one of the best from the movie.

  • This scene makes me so sad, I love it. :]

  • I'm not sure i'd use the word 'random', but i also think this is a good scene =o)

  • i love this scene its all so random its amazing!
