I saw something exactly like this, except it was shooting across the sky, from north to south and when it exploded behind a big cloud (like it does here), nothing came down or from out behind it. It just disappeared. It still freaks me out; I really wish I knew what it was.

I remember this i was a my grandparents we were inside so i didnt really see the actual fire ball but i do remember it lighting up the sky we thought it was lightning anyways it went silent for a second and then the house shook knocking all the stuff on the shelf to fall down.Freaked us out

I saw this while driving down the highway to Lethbridge, Alberta it was awesome. They did end up finding pieces of it in a field ( Somewhere in Saskatchewan I believe) The bright light was just the meteor exploding above earth.

Well let's look at the obvious possibilities. Shooting star? Never seen 1 move that slowly or generate even a fraction of that kind of light. Meteor? Well... Maybe but that doesn't explain the supernova of light it generates, and that behavior has never been exhibited as far as I know. Comet or Asteroid? 1 that large would create some catastrophic after effects upon Impacting the earth, so WTF is this thing?

I doubt it was a meteor, Did you know that the air space and the space out side of earth is constantly being monitored 24/7 if some threating meteor of any kind is entering the air space or atmosphere, it would be announced on the news everywhere. it would have been seen way before it approached earth, it was something else. . .
