If you notice, when the performers speak in their dialects, they all use different sounds from that language to speak.. Explaining why most of them sounds way far off. Furthermore, one might also say it depends on how much of a language one has been exposed to and able to understand and use effectively.

The Sid Ceaser bit sounded like the most accurate to german. I am from New York, but to answer your questions from my point of view. I can distinguish the languages to being able to tell what language it is most of the time. Due to the varying dialects some do sound identical, and one might mistake it for another language. To be honest, most americans thing all foreign languages sound funny to them. Hence the emphasis on certain aspects of the language that are isolated to show how they hear it

Yeah... I can only agree with you there... I am from germany and it sounds like Sid Ceaser has had a lot of exposure to french and german... the first time i saw that episode i wasn't really listening and all of a sudden i thought i heard german^^... he uses some real words so maybe that's why

@BlackScholes80 I can speak pretty decent conversational German these days but English is my first language - to me this sounds Swedish or Dutch but it's still very funny. Ich find es auch komisch - meine Eltern sagen immer, dass Deutsch ein ganz haessliche Sprache ist. Vielleicht klingt es ein bischen anders, aber ich finde es persoenlich ziemlich schoen.
