  • It's sort of unfair that she can make her natural language sound so cool :-p If I tried the same thing in my mothertongue (Danish) it would just come across as sounding extremely corny...

  • I think Africa it's a really really beautiful continent but also scary. Or at least the image we got it's about disorder and chaos. The blood diamonds for example.

  • What is she singing about? I really enjoy this music!

  • Greetings from Chile, this song was used (in a spanish version) as the main theme of a TV series named 'Oro Verde' (Green Gold) produced in 1997. Actually TVN (national TV station) is rebroadcasting it.

  • Cancion de Oro Verde teleserie chilena de tvn SALUDOS DESDE CHILE

  • Pulgares arriba los chilenos que vimos Oro Verde!!!:D

  • Superb. She is fantastic ! Thx

  • I've been looking for this song for like, the last ten years. It's been haunting my memories since about 1994/95. Trying to find this song was so frustrating; I was 8 or 9 years old the last time I heard it, so I had NO idea about the name of the artist, and since its in an african language I had no idea how to even *attempt* to spell the lyrics, its all phonetic to me. Now that I've finally found it again by complete coincidence I find I remember almost the entire song word for word. Its great.

  • @djaevlenselv

I've been on a 90's pop/eurodance trip for the last couple of years. Youtube has give me so many blasts from my childhood. I rediscovered Masterboy, E-Rotic, Mr. President, Culture Beat, Haddaway, Cut'n'Move and many many others, many of them obscure, all of them taking me right back to when I was a kid. But somehow none of it really mattered when I couldn't find Agolo. It was like the holy grail of my childhood song memories, cheesy as it sounds.

  • i like it still en will alwayz..... typical african en i feel quite at home

agolo is "time". the song is about not forgetting love, parents, home ,what life is about basically..

  • why no one has the original vid?

  • I löve it... awesome....

  • what means Agollo ?

  • @sunkistdk dnt be mad.focus on ur life and stop breeding hate .africa is here to stay. jealousy is a disease, get well soon homie

  • @sunkistdk u calll urself sunkis bt theres nothing sunny about u. ur soul is dark and plagued with jealousy either becos of bitterness that u didnt grow up lsitening to glorious music such as this or ur just bored with ur miserable life, race or culture. uh-oh did i hit a nerve??? ur comment is targetted at all true africans and blacks at heart and thinking u took a little piece of our childhood with ignorant comments like that is a lie.

  • @sunkistdk the rest of us are here to love and unite. ur the only hater here so u stand on ur own. begone hater! oh wat a blessing it is to be black and even more so african. u sound like ur from england bt if u say ur from denmark where its always cold then maybe thats y ur heart is like that. its always sunny in africa :) :) nobody is greater than anyone here. the earliest human beings originated in africa 200,000 yrs ago before ur mama was born so shush and enjoy the music no fighting

  • @sweetappletits actually :

"Archaeologists have recently found evidence, 2 million year-old human fossils, suggesting that the earliest human species was from Whushan County, Chongging, China." good try , but your info is outdated.

  • @eleven22 not correct !

  • @TheTonyj30

just look up Whushan man , google it.

  • @sweetappletits I just want to apoligize on behalf of sunkistdk. I don't know the person though, but if he or she is from Denmark I can only ask you not to relate the comment of sunkistdk to my country. I'm from Denmark as well (and yes, it's quite cold in the winter), and I can tell that there's also a lot of loving and wonderful people there. However, there are bad people in every country, and the rest of us must unite and not let these people make the world a sad place to be. I love Africa!

  • @Nnniclas ITS OK..THIS IS SWEETAPPLETITS BUT something happened to my account. its ok. i knw there's people like that out there. But there's also losers out there.. anyway thanks so much xxx

  • @sweetappletits i don't even know what the dude wrote. kind find his comment, must have deleted it, anyway I can tell he was hatin, so i'm jus gonna vote u up

  • @sweetappletits Some of us danes are warm at heart, even though the sun is hiding and rain is falling. Haters can be danish or african, lovers too.

    One love!

  • they used to have the vid on youtube...but i can't find it anymore

  • Angélique Kidjo is railing against the European critics that have accused her of making "inauthentic" African music. "Who are they to tell me what is African and what isn't?" says Kidjo, her voice rising in indignation as she thumps the meeting room table of her record company's office, in a way that suggests it might well be a substitute for a music critic's head. "Did they grow up in Benin and hear the music I heard? No? Then shut up!"

  • wonderful mama afrika
