Angélique Kidjo is railing against the European critics that have accused her of making "inauthentic" African music. "Who are they to tell me what is African and what isn't?" says Kidjo, her voice rising in indignation as she thumps the meeting room table of her record company's office, in a way that suggests it might well be a substitute for a music critic's head. "Did they grow up in Benin and hear the music I heard? No? Then shut up!"
Samba Pati feat. Roy Hargrove - African childhood Music Video
A nostalgic recollection of old photographs from Angelique's childhood in West Africa, set to the rhythm of SAMBA PATI feat. Roy Hargrove (OYO - 2010).
First time I ever saw and heard her was on the swedish tv-show "100 kilo godis" or another one of Tomas Gylling´s programs on Swedish television. I loved the video....didn´t understand a word ...but it was very well done and good music i s always good music
