I also love how Dawn isn't some stunning, model-like girl with an exaggerated perky personality. She's just a decent girl that connects really well with Tim. It's realistic, the only onscreen relationship that I really really rooted for.
The U.S office is great to watch because theres so many episodes, although the U.K office is so complex and in my opinion a million times better. Both good shows but the U.K office seems like reality where as the U.S seems more slapstick
I think the Jim and Pam storyline was really good in the earlier seasons when it was a lot more like Tim and Dawn's. Seems to lack the tension and any real substance now they're married and live happily ever after .. blah blah blah. For what it's worth by the way, I'm a big fan of both the UK and US versions, and I love to critically compare them without arrogant remarks..
i must admit i do wonder whether its a difference between "british humor" and "american humor" that makes me like the US office so much more. The American office can be really uncomfortable but I find it hilarious, too. Whilst 95% of the time I watch the UK office i just feel super uncomfortable. is it the familiarity of characters/caricatures??? im just saying i find it an interesting question.
@daythemusicdied42 i agree, love both tim and jim. pam gets to be funnier though for sure.
I'm a grown man and it takes a lot for a television program to make me well up but that Christmas special gets me every time. Just the bit in the taxi, the water colours, the kiss.. Perfection. I have to watch it alone because of my macho embarrassment :(
I'm new to the U.S version of The Office but one thing I like about about Pam in the U.S version is that she gets more comedic lines and is actually very funny. I'd still probably say I prefer the original British version as a whole but I reckon a lot of people that slate the American Office haven't ever watched a series, or even an episode. It's very different but there are some great moments.
Tim/Dawn was one of the most subtle/emotional relationships I've ever seen on tv, it may be a bit dramatic but I almost cried at the end of the last episode.
you need to be smart and a critical thinker to love the UK office. Sadly the american comedy industry has dumbed alot of people down. The cant appreciate the awesomeness of british humour. Glad i'm an aussie :)
The Office (UK) was a love story for Men... It (the show) was realistic, heartbreaking, hilarious, and just plain perfect. I can't think of another tv series which could do what the UK Office has done, make me feel for David, Tim and Dawn. Beautifully written, acted and directed, the UK office Rules and I will fight anybody who disagress with that.
@MrPaulc23 don't need quantity when you have quality (and im french). Besides on a ration genuine talent/inhabitants, not sure what the result would be :D

Love the BBC original, but Tim & Dawn just never seemed to have the same genuine chemistry that their Jim & Pam equivalents did on the American version.
@icecastles I agree but that's a kind of British thing i suppose, them awkward moments followed up by a fake smile and just get on with it attitude is kind of typical here, the thing that caught my eye in American version for me was indeed the relationship between Jim and Pam, although i find now there together and life's all drama free and normal it's getting a bit boring and repetitive.
@TheSaintAza I completely agree. The 7th season is a bit better, but it really doesn't have the spark it used to. It's sad that so many great British comedies have such short runs, but at least they don't milk them for every last gag and penny like on the US networks.
@icecastles Actually, that's what Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant planned. Tell the story and GET OUT. Great show, but a few more episodes would have been nice. Ended perfectly, tho, with Brent telling Finch where to get off and Tim and Dawn FINALLY! getting together.
It's always annoying when someone claims others work as their own because the do some quick editing.
On a side note, I've never seen the American Office. However, I don't see how realistically it can run for 7 or 8 or however many series it has done. The UK Office was short and sweet.
@MattyGkid tell you how its still running. its running on the comedic genius of steve carell and the occasionally funny contributions of jim and dwight. once carell goes itll slowly burn and come to an end unfortunately. shame cus the american one is better than the uk one
The 'um she said no, by the way' scene was just heartbreaking. I actually cried when they finally got together. When she opened the secret santa present in the car, while Tim is talking about her being the ray of sunlight in his life, that was so moving. What a great show.
well in america everything always tries to be so perfect, and all the actors are extremely well taken care off...and thats ironically so not real...Americans are the most fat and ygly humans in the world..lol
@The2010Generation I agree with you on that one. I am not American but I have been in the US for university for a couple years and I have to admit the average person looks nothing like the tv shows or movie stars. I managed to finish the British version earlier this week--it was great. Once I got pass the plain-Jane colours and "blahness" of the actors I really enjoyed it. The acting was very real, not forced at all and it all came together nicely=)
@The2010Generation lol, dude, did you ever watch the american office? omg that fat guy, that gay guy, that weird boss, that old pervert... omg dude, if you say that in the american office, they are all perfect, think again!
Great video and the song suits perfectly. The relationship between Tim and Dawn was so touching and beautiful. I can fall in tears just thinking about that last scene.
hey can anyone tell me the progression of TIm and Dawn's relationship? I love th U.S version, and Jim and Pam. Do these two get together? is Dawn engaged like Pam? Anyone's who's seen both, what are the differences between both couples?
@princessrissy94 In answer to your questions, yes, Dawn is engaged like Pam, and there are a lot of similarities between tim/dawn and jim/pam, but's there's also a few differences. For example, when Dawn heads off to America with her fiance, it's three years before Tim finally sees her again in the xmas specials. And Tim and Dawn do get together, but only at the very end of the series. The whole show though is only 14 episodes long in total, so you can watch the whole story pretty quickly.
thanks so much! i'm going to watch the british version i think. I LOVE the american version, and the british version is supposed to better so i'm definitely going to see it!
The British version is soo much better but it's because it's not watered down at all - like Bud Lite vs Guiness Stout. A lot of pop culture references are a bit mysterious to us Yanks and the pace is slower (like real life) but it's a lot more rewarding experience seeing it all in the end.
I just finished watching The Office (the real one). I too was a fan of the American version, but the UK one may be simply the most beautiful show ever produced. The characters on the US one, though entertaining, are like 2 dimensional pieces of paper next to the flesh and blood of the UK Office staff. At it's core, it's a show about "love," and I was sad to come to the end. I will miss the people of Wernham-Hogg terribly, and envy anyone about to embark on the journey I just completed
@thefirestorm10t NBC didn't get the idea from the UK office, they bought the rights to it, so did the French and a few other countries. Peronally I like both.
So nice to see flirting at work, nowadays you let it be known that you fancy someone at work and the fear of sexual harassment ensues. Its a shame but this is good to see. I have seen a lot of TV romances, but Tim and Dawn's was the best.
I've always been a big fan of Jim and Pam's relationship on the american version of The Office, but in the UK's version of The Office Special Part 2 where Tim gives his speech about happy endings... man that was such a good clip.
I loved this. It was sad, but it was a beautiful ending. Two people, as someone said, not exactly handsome or beautiful, but their personalities shine and make this such a winning romance.
I think what I liked about this on-screen romance was the fact that neither Tim nor Dawn were perfectly beautiful people but were real actors and came across like real people and that's what made it engaging.
We all love stereotypes because it makes us feel like we understand a certain type of people when, in actuality we no little. But maybe you shouldn't trust anything that I've written because, after all, I am an American.
Americans are fake? I'm not sure what you mean by that. If you're talking about the two Offices, I think they're both so different completely different... they're different approaches to humor in my opinion. And I love them both. But if you're talking about American people in general, I think that statement is really silly. To me, that's like saying all Brits have a stick up their ass. (continued...)
Beautiful, video...very touching. You perfectly captured that little bubble Tim and Dawn were in when they were together, the song's lyrics capture that too.
I'm sorry to say that Yes Americans are fake, but so is 99.99% of the people you meet, everyone of you is run by your Ego so stop hating becuase of what county you were born of or live in its not always are choice, so in conclusion i love this show better then the U.S. version and im from the states, they are totally dif'rent in how the write and act, but both are great. Plus my favourit band is Coldplay and there not from U.S. but I still love my Country (Excluding President and his choices)
The British couple are more special because Americans are always fake in everything they say and do. I love Dawn, she is beautiful. What is the name of the song? Beautiful song and beautiful couple.
i cried when tim and dawn fianly got together at the end no plot line has ever drawn you in so much - it was simply amazing, when she drew him that picture and he wrote that note on it to her- wow - it was magical - miss this show but have to say the end - left me content enough - hope they do another one - xxxx
The US Office is nothing like the UK office, it's like 22 episodes a year versus 6! Everything is different, and JIM is American, where TIM is British, and that changes everything! All the actors have done a fantastic job, but the Tim/Dawn story is just classic, a totally unique moment in TV history.
just youtube clips... but, you know us yanks.... we think we're better than everyone else.... j/k..... guess i'm just accustomed to our version. i may go to the Border's book store and purchase the bbc version of the show. Peace! :)
From one Yank to another, I'm just letting you know the UK version is 10 times better! I have seen the US version, but it's just not as good! Let me know what you think of it!!! :)
The UK version is hard to understand. It's British humor. I'm not from there so I don't pick up on their jokes. I wish I could. Sometimes I have to put the subtitles on! :O I will say one thing, I saw the episode where Ricky went on a blind date and saw his date and said, "aw for fucks sake" I never laughed so hard. That dude rocks.
Ricky Gervais helped to creat both. So nothing was stolen. Both the US and the UK are fantastic. It's really all subjective depending on where you live.
Who we really should be debating are the people who don't even like either show. Really, those are the people missing out.
Don't see why every Office vid has to turn into a debate! Both shows are greats, and both shows are COMPLETLY DIFFERENT from each other. They're just different shows, different humor, etc.
But this is about this video, not a huge debate. I really liked this video! It showed their relationship wonderfully. Good job! :]
I like pam better ;). I saw the US version first, and then the UK version while normally I like the more subtle humor in the British. With the office I kinda like the over the top humor more. And just the whole atmosphere in the US version is more appealing to me. Season 3 with the brands merging was just brilliant. The UK version is not bad, maybe better but it is a matter of taste. By the way I am european.
Wow shut up both are very good, ive seen both and they are both very funny. So people need to stop arguing because THE OFFICE is just amazing all over.
the UK version should get the credit for being the original humorous show. Tim and dawn love story is much more amazing & natural. And of course David Brent is incomparable! He don't have to try hard to be so funny like michael scott. well.. both versions are brilliant! but i PREFER the UK version better...though
I love how the UK characters are so normal looking...barring Gareth/Dwight, everyone got a whole lot more classically good-looking for the US version.
I didn't take to the US version during the first season, but it's gotten a lot better lately. We'll see how they keep the romance going if Jim and Pam actually get together. I hope they don't pull a 'Northern Exposure' and ruin it all.
The U.S. Office TOTALLY Missed the point..... They made it look like a 'sitcom',WRONG... Ricky and Mr Merchant spent alot of time, money and effort, making it look like a 'Fly on the wall' documentary....LIKE IT WAS MEANT TO BE...Yet again, people copying stuff and not quite knowing what to do with it....
Then again it could be that they didn't really miss the point per se, maybe they just liked the idea for the show and wanted to do something different with it.
No actully they did. The original was so great because it was so realistic and understated. That went outof the window with the US version which is a bog-standard sitcom.
No, you are missing the point. The U.S. version is funny on its own terms. You Brits can't have it both ways. You can't criticize the U.S. show for copying the UK show AND making changes. Which is it?
Yes, the U.S. version isn't as subtle or realistic, and they don't really stick to the documentary theme enough. But that doesn't mean its not funny. Yes, the U.S. cast is better looking. But they're still likable.
Genuinely think this is the best love story of the 21st century. It's so damn real.

We all love stereotypes because it makes us feel like we understand a certain type of people when, in actuality we no little. But maybe you shouldn't trust anything that I've written because, after all, I am an American.
hemiola111 3 years ago 2
Americans are fake? I'm not sure what you mean by that. If you're talking about the two Offices, I think they're both so different completely different... they're different approaches to humor in my opinion. And I love them both. But if you're talking about American people in general, I think that statement is really silly. To me, that's like saying all Brits have a stick up their ass. (continued...)
hemiola111 3 years ago 3

Tim & Dawn layed the foundation. But Jim & Pam made some of the most entertaining Televison I will ever see.
Fluzzderdoip 4 years ago
The US Office is nothing like the UK office, it's like 22 episodes a year versus 6! Everything is different, and JIM is American, where TIM is British, and that changes everything! All the actors have done a fantastic job, but the Tim/Dawn story is just classic, a totally unique moment in TV history.

the acting between these two was some of the best i have ever seen in any show

just youtube clips... but, you know us yanks.... we think we're better than everyone else.... j/k..... guess i'm just accustomed to our version. i may go to the Border's book store and purchase the bbc version of the show. Peace! :)

From one Yank to another, I'm just letting you know the UK version is 10 times better! I have seen the US version, but it's just not as good! Let me know what you think of it!!! :)
LylaRox 4 years ago 5
If you haven't seen the original version you have missed out. This translates very poorly I imagine.
It brims with cringe making reality.
THEPRREDATOR 4 years ago
The UK version is hard to understand. It's British humor. I'm not from there so I don't pick up on their jokes. I wish I could. Sometimes I have to put the subtitles on! :O I will say one thing, I saw the episode where Ricky went on a blind date and saw his date and said, "aw for fucks sake" I never laughed so hard. That dude rocks.
32SQUID 3 years ago 6
i'm glad that NBC has claimed copyright infringement...let me just watch the UK version all night long!!!
jylnyc 4 years ago
Ricky Gervais helped to creat both. So nothing was stolen. Both the US and the UK are fantastic. It's really all subjective depending on where you live.
Who we really should be debating are the people who don't even like either show. Really, those are the people missing out.

Great editing. Nice Vid. Forget the wasters debating the US v UK thing, they obviously need something to moan about.
createmate 4 years ago 4

CR35b 4 years ago 2
Wow shut up both are very good, ive seen both and they are both very funny. So people need to stop arguing because THE OFFICE is just amazing all over.

Dawn Tinsley......that girl is so gorgeous,
parkman35 4 years ago 2
the UK version should get the credit for being the original humorous show. Tim and dawn love story is much more amazing & natural. And of course David Brent is incomparable! He don't have to try hard to be so funny like michael scott. well.. both versions are brilliant! but i PREFER the UK version better...though

Yeah, The US version cannot compare, the UK is better in almost every way.
EhteshaamTheProudMus 4 years ago

BillyButlin123 4 years ago 2
Then again it could be that they didn't really miss the point per se, maybe they just liked the idea for the show and wanted to do something different with it.
Deffie 4 years ago
No actully they did. The original was so great because it was so realistic and understated. That went outof the window with the US version which is a bog-standard sitcom.
reinette 4 years ago
totally agree, shat me to tears watching the US version, its like they dont understand the humor or just cant act in that style.
berzerker17487 4 years ago
No, you are missing the point. The U.S. version is funny on its own terms. You Brits can't have it both ways. You can't criticize the U.S. show for copying the UK show AND making changes. Which is it?
Yes, the U.S. version isn't as subtle or realistic, and they don't really stick to the documentary theme enough. But that doesn't mean its not funny. Yes, the U.S. cast is better looking. But they're still likable.
