  • Anyone up for wind surfing?

  • DAMN NATURE YOU SCARY!

  • you want spaghetti? Its from a ripped gas station but its cleaned off from the rain.

  • chuck norris sneezed

  • Goodness Charley is a Cat. 6 hurricane!

  • @RCT3ClubPenguin nope, that is well into the category 4 range, but not even cat 5 yet.

  • well thers yer problem!

  • I could watch this for 6 years.

  • THAT'S CRAZY! You could have been blown away! Not to brag about worse weather here during storms or anything like that, but in January 2008 there was a gust of 165 mph in Tahoe City, CA. I just thought i'd say it since no one knows about it. I'm not understating the pain and suffering all of those people went through. I feel truly sorry for them.

  • @lmeTrAcE40 LIAR not possible

  • how come the banner didn't blow away?

  • I remeber this so clearly

  • You know, in the past before the moon slowed the Earth down it spent 10 times faster and the average wind speed was around 140.

This is what it would have looked like if people were alive before the moon got in earth gravitational pull.

  • Comment removed

  • Just imagine, the winds during Cyclone Olivia in 1996 where recorded at 253 mph, thats 408 kmh

  • @Westonci thats nuts

  • how didn't you get blown away i dont understand

  • thanks for the killer HAARP - has, as was tsunami.

  • @:16 WHO WANTS TO COME OUTSIDE AND PLAY?

  • Wow I Was 4 YEars old In That Storm All The Fences Where down And My Tree Almost Fell On Our House And I wasnt Scared one bit im not kidding

  • Irene, here I come.

  • haha this storm was sooo much fun. i went skimboarding

  • I always thought I'd like to experience a hurricane. After watching this I think I've changed my mind.

  • i would fly away D: !!!!!

  • Incredible video! The best I have ever seen, congratulations!

  • Damn you were filming from your car! My parents always make me get the hell away from windows and board them up when hurricanes come...and you were filming it straight up like that lol.

  • i could stand in that wind naked. nothing would happen. im god

  • Heck I would fly away lol.

  • this is happening on mi sunday

  • Get an umbrella and we'll find out that humans can fly

  • i was in tht hurrican i was so fuckin scared bro but i live in flordia now still have lots of hurricans there shit

  • @Jvizzlezz But if we do fly a kite, how fast will it be wrapped around a tree??

  • Yup those are strong winds.

  • すげー怖いw

  • Fly a kite.

  • that is insane

  • We just did dodge that bullet back in 2004 here in Tampa

  • guess who was playing mini golf when this hit.!

  • Love the sound effects.

  • chuck norris needs to exhale less

  • If I was in that I would do the same thing, get your camra and wait for death!LOL

  • if i was in that area i would get my surfboard and say SURFS UP!!!!!!!!!!! LETS GO CATCH EM WAVES!

  • I think the owner gave this video a thumbs down lol

  • I will never, ever forget that day! The first time I had ever experienced being so close to death! I'll never forget the sound of that wind!

  • @BigMacFail I know some folks who live in Cape Coral. They lost the screen structure they had over their swimming pool.

  • Charley was the first hurricane I actually took personally because it was hitting an area of Florida that I love and visit twice a year, because my parents co-own a condo in North Fort Myers. The first time I visited Sanibel after Charley was in December of 2004, and I didn't even recognize it. All the lush trees that had stood between the parking lot and the beach were splintered and gone. I felt sick to my stomach for a little bit, and a feeling of dispair as well.

  • speechless!!! Damn

  • and you can still standing without any support?

  • best footage of wind power ever

  • I would have been killed !

  • What would happen if you stood out in the wind? XD

  • Do not tried to stay in the direct wind :D, should feel the true adventure, and make mouvie from the direct wind ;)

  • O.......M........G..............

  • crazy!

  • It was cut only a few seconds here and there when I was wiping my lens. That is basically how fast it happened. It was super fast !

  • @UltimateChase you mean wiping yourself right

  • was that time elapsed? or is that how fast it ended?

  • be careful we dont want you gettin killed by a flying fork at 145mph

  • i wish i had a parachute...

  • jesus that wind would kill a man!

  • looks like 180 mph not 145 im sorry because it had sustained 150 mph winds with 175-80 wind gusts OUCH! that rain must have felt like pricks

  • Hurricane Charley, 1........Gas Station, 0

  • now if that is 145 then imagine 300mph from a tornado!

  • I saw this on the news right after Charley hit. The full version, though.

  • WoW

  • this is the most intense wind Ive seen on video.

  • whaaatt the fuuuccckkk......

  • This gives you an idea of what Hurricane Andrew winds would have looked like had it struck during the day.

  • @RandomNameTag Hurricane Andrew had sustained winds 20 mph faster than that - 165 mph. Gusts were upwards of 220mph in that storm...

However, It is believed that in this video, peak gusts exceed 170 mph with a 1 minute average "sustained" wind of ~145 mph

  • Was the radar image in the begining from weathertap??? I think so.

  • @NewEnglandWXLife Yes it was WeatherTap !

  • wow. just think of those who live or lived in staurt Fl when 2 hit in a few weeks. this is amazing!!

  • bad ass video WOW!!

  • in a hurricane it's cold not freezing but it is cold because it is like a monsoon. I know this because when I was in America I was on the out skirts of hurricane cortrina and it was cold luckly the hurrican was going another way so we didn't get hit.

  • @Callz0 It depends on where you are in a hurricane. Hurricanes on the gulf coast in the summer are warm. Where in "America" were you? It can be very cold in a Hurricane off the Maine coast.

  • @JustinU1984 Like I said I was in America and it was pretty cold in that hurricanebut like you said not all hurricanes are the same in each place like some are hot or some are cold but i was just telling everyone that when I was in one it was very cold. :)

  • that's awesome!!!!!! DAAAAAAAAAAAMN!!

  • @miguelisms i was there and its was horrible.. that aint ! awesome

  • Really spectacular and amazing hurricane strong winds !

  • The wall of the eye in its maximum expression .. probably the best catch of the eyewall of the network.

  • Would the weather be extremely cold during a hurricane?

    Would people freeze to death?

  • Actually, no. The weather would be warm and humid before and during a hurricane.

  • if you're confused as to why the car is unharmed it's because to their left is a concrete wall of another large building.

They would never have been foolish enough to trust a car window to protect them from that, because it wouldn't.

  • what the...................

  • It's a hurricane, not tornado

  • Comment removed

  • WOW! how did that not move the car

  • ...whoa......

  • is that TORNADO

  • Some people just pick the wrong people to try and intimidate and run their mouths too. If you don't take in another thing I've said to you take this in...It would be the very best for you if you chose to just not send me another message, and also I would say this and anything else to your face believe that.

  • I haven't sent you any messages. And you're not intimidating me. You've done nothing this entire time but prove everything I have to say about you. This eleven year old kid's mindless spamming does a better job.

  • Whatever man, whatever...

  • This is why many people shouldn't ride out a vicious hurricane.

  • I remember when i was like 8 i believe (iam 11 now) that shit was scary as fuck the windows were pounding from the strong wind, when i went outside when it was done it all the water had overflowed the sidewalks of my complex.... and the trees where bented = /

  • 11 years old and using the word "fuck"..Nice mouth kid. If you were my youngen and I seen this I'd beat you till you never wanted to see that word again and then wash ur mouth out with terpintine!

  • Man fuck you hillybilly i can fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck and oh yea fuck. you banjo strumming redneck hillbilly.

  • I wasn't surprised when I seen your "youtube" homepage. A mixed little nigger kid with a mouth that will get his little ass kicked soon enough. Course I guess it's not your fault, Daddy probably ran out on you when you were an embryo.....That's when you were reaaaaaaaallllyyy little incase you don't know...and reading your comments, intelligence isn't a key factor. Immature little ingrade.

  • lol nazi. look whos talking the banjo man. you pedo.

  • nice call a 11 year old a nigger, way to go, cant wait till they take guns away theyll do it on sunday morning at church too

  • I would comment on your post but none of it makes sense, so you made yourself look like an imbecile, you didn't need my help. And if the little bastard is big enough to talk like that he's big enough to get called like It is. I call it like I see it. You got a problem with that then go jump in obama's pocket with the rest of his idiots.

  • Seriously? You're calling me out on being a pansy and you're threatening an eleven year old over the internet? Give me a break...

  • That's what I figured, Pansy. Go flap your beak to someone you might could handle....Like that girl a few posts down..Maybe you'd take her, although It'd be close I'm sure. I don't threaten anyone, I either guarantee, promise or just tell it like it is. Like I said I'd love to show you if you would like to meet up and chit chat like a man.

  • You want me to spend hundreds of dollars on an airline ticket to fly all the way to goddamn texas or wherever it is that you live so I can "Chit chat like a real man?"... You know you're invincible over the internet, don't you. Otherwise you wouldn't be spouting this shit off. You don't have a second clue who I am or what kind of danger I even pose. Just a word of warning, don't keep it up.

There's something a lot of people call an "internet tough guy". You fit the bill perfectly.

  • I'm gonna tell you this one more time...The "danger you pose" doesn't even enter compare to what the hell you're about to get yourself into. I'm telling you ONCE more for your OWN good you best shut the hell up and not say one more damn thing to me. In fact...SAY ONE more thing and i'll give you an idea of what "internet tough is"

  • You seem to be missing quite a few brain cells yourself, bigmrclean - clean up your act if you are going to go about criticizing others. And before schooling therealhitman about his language, how many times have you said the word "Fuck" recently? Does it matter whether he's eleven or not?

You are a hypocrite and a pathetic philistine.

  • Why don't you come where I am and make me clean up my act and call me a pathetic philistine to my face you damn incest pansy. That's about the stupidest reply I've ever seen on you-tube...and believe me I just viewed your profile..so to top that is pretty bad. I'll school whoever I wanna school

  • You are a racist PyroChemicals.

  • A racist?

  • Yes, you are biased against Philistines.

  • Damnit. You're right.

  • Charley was an amazing hurricane, so much power packed into such a small system kinda like Andrew back in 92!

  • well this the time that hurrcianes come and guys this the 2009 hurrciane season

and we better be ready for them this year

well i live in texas but sill

  • holy fucking christ o___o

  • wow, insane stuff. So was that like a camera mounted on a secure pole or something?

  • I got mowed down by Charley when i lived in Winter Park, the roof got took off my apartment with me in it, was pretty sketchy for a few min.

  • Thats not that baaaaad...

  • I remember that day - Friday the 13th. I lost my front window - back door and all my furniture to Charlie. Welcome Hurricane Season 2009!!

  • There's another, longer version of this which I've seen, which is better because you see the (fairly) intact station before the incredible winds hit and rip it apart.

Remember that when the eye passes over, winds of equal strength suddenly return - but from the opposite direction. Then you have to go through all this again!

  • F that shite!

  • just think an f5 tornado can be up to twice as much!

  • @will79601 there have been gusts in hurricanes recorded 100 mph faster than this as well

  • o..............m.....................g

  • Why don't the water drops on the window move horizontally?

  • amen.

  • And this was just a medium category 4. Hurricane eyewalls can get a lot more powerful than this.

  • I can't even describe that power. If raindrops hit anyone that hard I bet they would be skinned within seconds.

  • wow man.... speechless

  • Great clip...shame about the annoying loggo sitting in the middle of the picture

  • Holy Hell! Everythings going like...

    ------>

  • wow ,and new york is waiting for hanna tropical storm and everithing is crazy here .after this video i can sleep now..

  • my goodness

  • I'm shocked that the frame stood up to 145+mph

  • your funny

  • GREAT JOB CHARLEY!!!!!

  • I would have definitely put up storm shutters if a hurricane like that was coming in. I was here in Miami during the 2005 Hurricane season, and that was crazy. We got hit by Katrina, Rita, and Wilma and were without power for a long time. But since we put up shutters we had no damage to our house. Although a small tree did fall over on my dad's Corolla but it was so light that it did no damage.

  • Maybe I'm over estimating, but aren't those winds even stronger than 145mph - atleast in gusts? I've seen thousands of hurricane/cyclone/typhoon videos and this one tops them all in terms of wind intensity. I'd bet the winds got to 155-160mph in gusts.

  • Can't imagine being in something like that *shudders* - great capture -

    *StormSpinner1* in Texas

  • charley destroyed about half of my apt. complex in altamonte springs. i was at a friend's house, but one guy who stayed swore a tornado went through. my roof was torn off & my floor collapsed the next day after being drenched with rain.

  • anybody up for some kite flyin'?

  • Building code should not allow gas stations to erect such structures that are so easily blown apart by a hurricane sending deadly sheet metal flying. The gas stations destroyed are the first thing shown by the news to show destruction. They're always destroyed...they're so poorly constructed.

  • The main structure of the gas station still standed, even after cat 4 winds. It's not like a cat 4 hurricane just hits anywhere everyday.

  • Many structures, excluding gas stations, would be damaged with cat 4 winds.

  • "mom i am going out with the dog!" naat

  • if theres 145 mph winds how can youi stand

  • It looks like this video was shot from a car or another safe location. They are definitely not standing out in it. Winds of this magnitude would push you all over the place and you could be seriously injured or killed by flying debris.

  • A car isn't a safe location during a hurricane. It could be flipped or easily hit by debris flying through the air. And they showed the T.V. before, so my guess is that person lives next to a gas station and didn't put shutters up.

  • Mike Theiss was the chaser filming here. He was filming from his car (Facing into the wind so that it wasnt fliped) All of his windows were blown out becasue his car was hit by flying metal.. Durring the eye he took shelter in the bathroom of the gas station. That bathroom was heavily damaged when the 2nd eyewall came over and teh roof came off

  • Oh, alright. Thanks for clearing that up.

  • This video ends while he is in the eye btw

  • actually people have stood up in 130mph winds but they lean into it, theres this video of this british guy somewhere doing it

  • OMFG!!!

  • Its amazing, the rain whipping by so quick looks like a snow storms White Out.

  • Gas station? what gas station? lol

  • i was in the eye of hurricane charley i had a near death expirience

  • incredible footage. its a shame u didnt post more of it, the build up and that. id easily watch a 60 minute version

  • Yea, it's a YouTube phenomenon. Either a video has miles of unnecessary lead-in or you just get a nibble of pure gold.

  • Awesome video!!, nothing resists those violent gusts of wind of eyewall.. they are lucky.

  • Wow!! Great video.
