  • NEVER go to pet stores. they get their dogs/puppies from puppy mills.

  • By far the worse guard dogs on planet earth. Bernese mountain dogs don't know what a stranger is, EVERYONE is their best friend. Give them a pet, a hug and you have a friend for life.

  • @4JayeP

I don't agree with your opinion. In my family we had three Berners. They were all very nice to people, but at the same time very good guardians. My neighbours had Schnauzers and Dobermans, but the thiefs came in their houses anyway. We never had bad visits because of our dogs.

  • @nemaesis480 Your opinion means nothing. The Berners we had were best friends with everyone. Maybe you were just a bad owner who didn't know how to train your dogs. Now the German Shepherd we later adopted was a different story. He was a retired K-9 police dog that would kill anyone on command.

  • @4JayeP

What makes you think that we were bad owner????

Our dogs runed free in our garden and they were kind to everyone, especially with children. Before to judge you should know. I only expressed my opinion even if you think that yours is more important.

  • Your dog is beautiful, but he looks a little on the heavy side. We're on our second Berner; he is now 7 months old. It's easy to "kill them with kindness" by feeding them too much or too many treats because they are such handsome, wonderful pets.. Just be careful: They already have a pretty short life span and being overweight definitely doesn't help. Our first Berner lived to 10 1/2 years; that's about 3-4 years past normal life expectancy.

  • wow -beautiful fun berner!

  • I love my berner...

My dog tends to pee when we greet her or yell at her!

  • Berners are best !!!

  • Your dog is amazing and funny cos he's so happy. Lovely dog.

  • My sister has one..and there really a great dog!

  • so adorable!!

  • I have a Bernese mountain dog, they get very big, have an inner AND outer coat and shed like crazy. They're a great companion.

  • Beautiful Jolly!!! Check out our girl, Bella, if you get a chance! Thanks! (Puppies soon!)

  • Not fat, just perfect.

  • this one is toooooo fat.....how many kg?ore pounds?

  • Adorable :)

    Are they always that big?

  • süüß

  • We have a four year old Bernese, not as cute, sorry Daisy.

  • What a fitting name! She skips like a child and sure knows how to self-entertain.

  • I had a berner 10 years ago. He died at the age of 10 years by cancer.

I still feel pangs of hunger when I see one on the street or here on youtube.

The bernese mountain dogs are fantastic, especially with the children.

  • It's like my bernie!

  • damn that 9 moths!

  • Amazing dog! I love this breed so much, it's so unique.

  • unfortunately the bigger the dog the shorter they live

  • Thanks, asshole.

  • not allways the case

my friend had an american mastiff that lived an astonishing 16 years before having to be put to sleep cause he couldent walk anymore

  • Lol he is funny little furball.

I have female Bernese dog called Mindi.

Male Berneses are more you know...they are more furball than females but both gentres are lovely...berneses are the best

  • This is a fabulous video - you are very lucky to have such a beautiful dog.

We lost our huge bernese boy, Chewie last May at age 8 and a half, and it broke our hearts. They are so gentle and friendly despite their size.

Toddlers in the park would run up and cuddle him like a giant teddy bear. He'd just sit and let them with huge smile on his face...

  • My berner is 8 yrs old. We dont know whats wrong with him. His hind legs collapse, he cant walk. We had him tested for lyme, displasia. He is on a thyroid med now. We have to wait and see. My heart breaks. If anyone has any tips, let me know. He has a little arthritis in his knee but thats not it either. Frustrated in connecticut. Beautiful vid. Looks just like my baby.

  • I'm sorry, but I'm going to say you that. This dogs average lifespan is 8-9 years. He doesn't walk because probably he got a paralysis. This is the most type of illness these type of dogs are getting.I really fell sorry for that.Wish you best luck! And hope the best!

  • Hey! My Boarder Collie Huskey cross had that happen where her legs collapse and she could not walk. I had her tested for anything and everything! It was a neurological disorder that occurs, she was brought to a neurologist where I was told. Unfortunetly there was nothing that could be done, we waited it out with some steriods, but she could not stand. So we had to put her down. I hope it turns out okay for you sallyos06460!

  • @sallyos06460 You should try signing up for a Yahoo chat group called Berner-l It is like having a great worldwide research community. You just post your question and replies will come in from all over the world. I have 3 Berners of my own. I wish you luck in your search for answers

  • @sallyos06460

how is he doing??? any improvement!?!??!?!

  • my berner male is now 11 months and weighs 93 pounds, i guess he'll be on the smaller side of berners, after the 1 yr mark, they usually add about 10 -15 pounds more...but jolly looks healthy, just gotta be careful for the hips and elbows! personally i like bigger berners, so my second one will be coming straight out of a kennel in Denmark..the dad weighs 130 and stands at 28"thats what i love, big berner and lots of love

  • this dog is sweet :)

  • @ButterHeros You don't really have to have a yard if you 're prepared to go for a walk every day. They almost never decide to exercise on their own anyway.

    Yeh they do shed .

  • LoL

  • omg its a puppy???? how cuteee

  • Comment removed

  • I have one and it is a great dog!

So I say get one there great!

  • I love fat dogs!

  • @arielhe If you REALLY love dogs you better make them loose weight because that good for their health and condition. I know its not easy always (our berner has a tendancy to get fat) sorry for my english

But in the end u want a healthy dog (happy dog) no???

  • @arielhe

I dont think they are supposed to be fat. These cute doggies needs to be taken for walks so they get muscular :)

  • @arielhe he's not fat! he's poofy!

  • @arielhe its not fat ... berners have really dense bones!

  • @arielhe That Dog is not fat, its muscular structure is huge.

  • that's a puppy?

  • @gpshaw1987

Yeah those are puppies. Bernese are huge, and they grow REALLY fast. Playful dogs, good with kids, really big.

  • i absolutley loveee bernese mountain dogs!!! they're my favorite kind! theyre adoralbeeee!!! :))) i want one soo bad but im not allowed:(((

  • My family had one of those, but he's dead now :( World's best dog

  • what do you use for your grass?it looks nice and green.

  • she is a reallllllly biiiiig girl! wow my 8 month berner is smaller and hes a male...he weights 85pounds. how much does jolly weigh here in this video?

  • @amirjon my bernese just turned 1 year and hes huge, 110 and like 3.5 feet at the shoulder lol its insane

  • Yeah same, my dog is 80 pounds and she is about to turn two......but girl dogs are smaller. If his paws are big, that means that he is gonna grow :) :) :) :) :)

  • so beautiful! mine BMD is living in HongKong, she is 4 onths old. :)

  • Your dog is beautiful. I have a Bernese mountain mix with german shepherd.

  • That is a good cross, there was one near me who was half Berner and half German Shepherd. He was a real comedian but very intelligent, loved his food and the company of female dogs. Sadly he died of old age last year but he had a good life.

  • I have a bernese mixed with a german shepherd as well! Do you have any pics of the dog? I'd love to see it.

  • aww hes so cute (not as cute as my too but im bias) :P

  • Thats a very happy and excited dog, i wish you a lot of fun and good times with her. We had to put down my Bernese mountain dog yesterday because he was sick, I'm so sad. He wasn't even 5 years old.

  • beat dog in the world

  • hes so cute had a female but she dies when she was 14 months :(....have a new huge boy now

  • um they do get a little bigger than that my friend has one

  • i would do UNFORGIVABLE things to get a Bernese Mountain Dog of my own. :)

  • We're trying to get her pregnant right now, so..you have a chance to get a pup from her.

  • @sashe7107 Did she have puppies yet? We have two Berners. They are wonderful. I love my boys so much.

  • @thekalbear01 i have one he is ten months and90 pounds

  • @thekalbear01 you can go find a local breeder or see if any pet stores have them. we got the cheapest one at the breeder and he's soooooooooooo cute!!!! since they are very uncommon, cute, and in high demand, though, one from the breeder can cost almost 2000. If i were you I'd call your local pet stores and see if they had any. if not, try going to some websites.Hope this helps!!!!!!

  • wow nice, that well above avg life expectancy, my pups 3months

  • GORGEOUS, beautiful!

  • such a big field for the dog to run and play freely, so awesome.

  • SO beautiful!!! I WANT ONE SOOO BAD!! MY FAV!!!

  • Wouldnt that be third then....

  • bernese mountains are one of my favorites, second to the basset and lab!

  • i know i got 1 a couple weeks ago only 6 mounths and it can almost stand taller tham me... SCARY!!! roflmfao

  • i have a Bernese mountain dog named Harley. They're the cutest things aren't they?!!!

  • As far as my favorite breed of dog goes. This one (for me) runs neck and neck with the "Pug". Love them both. This dog is gorgeous.

  • it seems to be a bit fat to me :) but no offence... and when compared US vs European dogs I can see some small differences :) that doesnt mean this one is less beautiful

  • What do you mean? Do you have European or American BMD?

  • @sashe7107 european or american? its the same breed! exact same standards..

  • @Ycefire What is the difference between american and european bmd? Mine is european and I don´t really see the difference...

  • @Yggdrasilthrone There shouldn't be any difference.

Some Berners have smaller (or bigger) white markings on their head for example, but that has nothing to do with the breed standard or european/american. Both are allowed. All Berners look slightly different.

  • @AlbinoGoudvis thank you for the answer...

  • How big can they get? I want one that is pretty big an of to train and exercise with, are they avaliable in California cause I rarely see those around here. Awsome dog indeed

  • Berners are the greatest

  • luv ur dog!!! sooo cute check mine out go 2 my pg i have a 1 yr son bigger than his 4 yr old MOM!!!! hes like 1 1/2x bigger than his own mother!!! i luv ur dog!! soo cute and playful

  • The nicest dog in the world! Believe me :)

  • This is a beautiful dog.

  • that black coat is beautiful

  • only nine months?!?! its hugeeee!

    haha.

    i want one

  • ohhh! I wish I had a bernese mountain dog

  • oh ya and we got him from summum kennels in mnt tramblan canada (I live a hour away so it was good):D

  • i have one of those dogs and they are very cute

  • my pup is the same age and color how big is yours now ?

  • Beautiful doG!!!!!

  • pretty

  • What an absolute Beauty of a Bermese...such a proud look...gorgeous.

  • I don't know what the argument here is about and don't want to.justlooking for Bernies because i think they are so beautiful.i never knew they were so graceful for such a large breed but also didn't realize they have a short life span(8 years?) is this true? anyway this is a beautiful dog!

  • Yeah, they have a short life span. The larger the dog, the less years they live, unfortanutly. But just because that is their average life span doesn't mean they wouldn't live over that age. ;]

I knew someone who had a golden retriever that lived to be 17 even though their life spans are about 12-14 years.

  • Do your homework before you buy a Berner. Go to shows, meet the breeders. I have two Berners. There is always someone home with them. They are people dogs, and get their feelings hurt easily. If you buy from a reputible breeder, expect to pay $1,500 to $2,500 i.e. show or pet. Be prepared to be interviewed. Good breeders choose the owner.

  • what a huge dog! how much does it cost?

  • they cost about 1,000 something dollars any less and there is prob something wrong with him/her

  • in canada its around 1500...

  • i have 2 now and just look when they stand they are so graceful

  • hairy monkey is a troll you idiots.

  • wow.. i dont know what the deal is.. obviosly monkee... whatever is kidding. i had a berner and it lived to be almost twelve!!

  • super super

  • That's a cute dog, wish I had one!

  • swiss mountain dog?

  • i have a stuffed one

  • I alwsys confuse Bernese mountain dogs with fat border collies lol. I have poor eye sight

  • You people (particularly hairymonkey - I think everyone can make a pretty good judgement about you with your comment about wanting to kill Megz's dog. Idiot.) Very simply Megz, I'm sure you will get your vet to run tests, and keep an eye on his development. My Bernese died recently having reached the grand old age of 13, he was the most fantastic dog. He filled out at about 10 months to a year, not sure that you would expect to wait 2 years for this to happen. I hope all goes well with him.

  • @shad28960

height and and length up 12months, filling out 24-28 months...ive read waaaaay too many books on this bread

  • hairymonkey and graco11 are right meg it sounds like tyronagnetis i am a BMD breather and it is very conmmon i would advise you to put your dog down before he starts to suffer badly its so sad to see the final stages of tyronagnetis when their eyes fall out and have constent diarrhoea it brings a tear to the toughest man

  • Guys I think you should be actually talking this HairyMonkey guy seriously - he told me to put down my BMD on another video and my vet agreed that he was right. Minky was suffering really bad with tyronagnetis- she was painfully scrawny so we did the right thing and ended her life. Meg I think you should accept his advice - I know you love you bmd - I loved Minky with all my heart - but sometimes you just have to do the right thing. xX

  • he also said that you have to kill them after 18 months. Maybe he's right about the tyronagnetis or whatever, but the other is just a bit cruel. I lost mine a week ago, and she was 8 years old, which is the max for a berner.

  • What a beautiful, stunning Bernese ~ we own a year old male, and had 3 others in the past. They are an amazing breed.

Meg ~ Your dog is fine, he will fill out, but you dont want him too big anyway.

Just enjoy him and ignore the idiot...

  • Hairymonkey123 do something useful go and kill yourself.

  • meg, I think you just need to put the comments of Hairmonkey on ignore. This is obviously some sick person who just wants to make you worry and feel bad. He probably has nothing better to do than surf the internet and cause trouble. I'm sure your vet knows about this issue and would tell you if anything was wrong with your dog. Just ignore monkey, be responding to it, you are playing right into it's hands.

Watch, I will get attacked by it now.

  • Are you stupid?? I'm a certified Bernese Mountain Dog Breeder, I know these things.

Lets just put it this way if she dosen't kill the dog I will. I won't let it go throughï»
