  • Just cuz subways r underground doesn't mean they're vulnerable to earthquakes. San Francisco has a subway and they get A LOT of earthquakes as well. Mexico City has a subway and they had an earthquake... It was safer in the subway than up on surface.

  • i thought los angeles wasnt alowed to have a subway cuz of earthquakes guess not

  • this west coast song is so smooottthhh . what is the name of the song pplease?

  • @belkiri69 The music is a production track...

  • @twinlotus617 So what is the production track

  • @belkiri69 Can/t name it, but it is part of a package of copyright use songs on my computer. Glad you like it.

  • Los Angeles has subways...but not very many of them. there only in the dowtown, and western area like hollywood and santa monica. They dont stretch very far. There are no subway lines that even go near Downey where I live. And I live only 14 miles from Downtown LA

  • You live in Downey! did you forget that the Green Line train runs 3 miles inside the Downey city limits in the center devide of the 105 Freeway?

Did you know that the Green Line connects with the Blue Line in South L.A.

  • As DiverseLA pointed out, LA has had a subway since the early 90s.

The trains you're talking about were part of the Pacific Electric Railway, which was an interurban system (NOT a rapid transit system). Although the system was dismantled, many of the ROWs still exist and are being brought back to life again.

  • We've had subways since the early 90's.

But destroying the Pacific Electric railways for freeways was the worst idea in the city's history, IMO. We had a more expansive train system than NYC.

  • i almost never buy a ticket and when they check ill just act like a tourist

  • how often are fare checks done on Metro rail.

  • not very often!!

  • so you're saying that I can board any Metro Rail line and they wouldn't check (or rarely check).

  • not exactly...you never know when they will check, so you best be prepared! It's not worth the price of the fine!

  • Everytime I rode L.A. Metro I was never asked for my ticket.

  • @IVSolar haha, you would love CT

  • There are officers that do sporadic checks. The MTA, however, is beginning to install turnstiles.

  • just colder!

  • no chicago is the worst their stations are crap not like la there clean

  • Our stations are clean! I took this subway last week to go to Hollywood :D

  • a lot cleaner than nyc but what happens during an earthquake?

  • Maybe it's safer down there!

  • Not only is Los Angeles County well-built to withstand a major quake, everything under ground is well-designed good as well.

They learned from experience like the Methane gas explosion in 1985 in the Wilshire District. That event would cause many things to change concerning building above or below ground.

  • nyc subway is better but L.A. looks more better then nyc

  • wtf? LA has a subway?

  • It's fun to ride, too!

  • NYC is better tho

  • nyc subway is better but L.A. looks more better then nyc
