  • Delightful, the whole movie is Fred and Ginger at their most buoyant, and the opening number sets the tone. Great show, and Fred is the greatest!

  • Bioshock 2!

  • First-class snarking!

  • Isn't he the guy who plays the mail guy on Santa claus is coming to town the movie??

  • i came to see this video but what did i see? i saw the sea

  • just wonderfull

  • my grandmother taught this to me and my sister when we were little.

  • 2 people saw the admiral, and were shot, leaving no people who saw the admiral

  • 2 people didnt do and did not die!

  • 2 people saw the sea

  • I have it on DVD - how do I put it on Youtube??

  • What a wonderful song and performance! And perhaps best of all--every bit of it is still true!

  • Pure change I find this true gem! I've a recording from a Royal-Navy concert in Chatham UK 1942 and was looking for the lyrics of this funny little song. It must be very popular even on the other side of the pond. Thanks for uploading !!

  • I love this movie. When a Navy recruiter came to our house my mom was upstairs singing this song at the top of her lungs. Cracked me up.

  • Oops, I forgot Frankie Sinatra! How unthoughtful of me...

  • Splendid! I'm addicted, too! Song and dance men - Fred, Gene and Donald; song men - Bing and Howard Keel. Of course, I like some actresses, too

  • Fred Astaire is on eof my favorite people(and Gene Kelly)=)

  • For some reason i just have a random addiction to 30's 40's and 50's music for some reason i have no clue why

  • @riflerider20 incredible though

  • @riflerider20 Don't you worry, I'm the same! xD

  • @riflerider20 I know exactly what you mean, I feel the same way ;-)

  • i just love it !

  • Filmed on a Colorado Class Battleship of the US Navy

  • Irving Berlin deserves much of the credit here. He was truly a brilliant songwriter during an era when "less was more". Notice how simple his lyrics are. "What did we see? We saw the sea." That line is so simple and yet so brilliant. True talent.

  • I adore him!

  • this is going to be the story of my life

  • i love this song

  • i love this song i always have it on at school

  • catchy tune.

  • i'm a big fan of fred and ginger's movie and i always thought i prefered when fred was dressed in top hat, white tie and tails until i saw this one and realised there's still nothing sexier than a man in uniform and fred is no exception to that rule!

  • So amazing. One of my absolute faves

  • Fred Astaire makes me feel happy no matter what.

  • My social studies teacher used to make us watch this video everyday before class and place our hands over our hearts

  • That's amazing. I want to go to school where you did

  • Astaire at his very most cheeky tongue-in-cheek.

  • Happy 110th birthday Fred

    u rock

  • How adorable! Fred was wonderful :)

I agree with the previous comments; posting the full movie would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the clip!

  • I have never laughed so hard in the first two minutes of a film as I did at this one! This is one of the lesser-known Astaire/Rogers films - though I don't know why, it's chock full of funny lines, hilarious gags and some of the best dancing the duo ever did.

  • SOMEONE UPLOAD THE MOVIE!!

  • Yes!!! PLEASE??????????

  • We joined the Navy to see the girls

    And what did we see?

We saw the sea:(...I love this song and

I LOVE Fred, he so cute:)

  • I love this film

Fred and his tap dancing! =)

    this is my fav song!

  • This was the first Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers movie I ever watched, and I loved it. But more than that, this is my favorite song in the entire movie. Gotta love Fred's performance!

  • Not only is Astaire's performance impeccable, the Irving Berlin lyrics are so pithy. It's absolutely true...we saw the sea. That's how it is, for the most part, at least during peacetime--this was made five years before Pearl Harbor.

  • i saw half of the movie!! really wanted the see the rest!! somebody really needs to upload the movie!!

  • He is beautiful with his pants ! Ah Freddy !

  • Fred Astaire was the epitome of class.

  • wow, so good!

  • This was the first complete Fred Astaire film I saw when I was very little. It was also the first one I watched last year when I "discovered" him (again). Therefore it has a special place in my heart.

  • I think this was my first Astaire flim as well - it certainly made an impression!

  • I think mine was The Easter Parade or this one.

  • This scene is great! I personally think that this movie is not one of the best fred astaire has made, but this song and the eggs in one basket scene are wonderful!

  • I have just introduced my ten year old to Fred and Ginger. I had tried earlier, but now she appreciates the humor and grace of these movies and loves them as much as I do. She has completely fallen in love with this movie. It remains number two on my list, behind " Swing Time".

There will never be the likes of these two again.

  • What about Cary Grant? He was English & was always comfortable in front the camera - to my way of thinking at least.

I love this scene - & the song!

  • Very cool! I love this song I think it's so funny! And Fred is soo cute singing it!

  • Hear hear

  • Excellent. Nice I've looking for this one for a while.

  • Thank you so much :) I love this song, and Fred Astaire is one of the most talented people who have walked this earth.

  • he sure is!

  • Omg you are soooooooooo right.

  • @TheKittyKatsMeow And also one of the best comedic film talents. What a blessing to have had him in so many great films.
