  • Perhaps .. maybe .. it's 'wide open' to ... interpretation? no idea

  • Marc Worden <3

  • 0:50 :D

  • FUNNY

  • forget about the relationship between d jeans and ad xD LOL

  • i love spike, but who is his work on the ads actually ? i mean, the ads are made by advertisers, spike just film them so why does he gets so much credit for them, or am i wrong ?

  • spike makes commercials fun

  • this commercial was originally an MTV spot I believe.

  • Amazing!

  • i bet spike jonze's mind works like a Rube Goldberg device

  • As the patient mumbles a tune trying to communicate through his trauma, the elder DR remembers it first from Gloria Jones earlier version, perhaps whilst studying in Med School. Staff remembers contemporary Soft Cell Version, singing it all together, wayyyyy coooool!!!!

  • Great commercial... Does anyone remember the old 501 commercial with the accapella group on the stairway?

  • Spike Jonze is a man with vision

  • The guy playing Richard is Marc Worden. He was on The All New Mickey Mouse Club in the early 90s. (Yes, the same one Britney and those guys were on.) Marc has recently been doing voiceover such as the voice of Iron Man/Tony Stark in the cartoon version of The Invincible Iron Man.

  • I've always wondered why I associate a stretcher with this song. So I Googled this: "Tainted Love" + "Commercial" . . . and found the video. Heh.

  • PADDLES!

  • Hahhaha!

    Oh Spike Jonze...

  • jesus, this commercial used to be on ALL THE TIME

  • )))))))

  • awesome

  • can someone tell me the realtionship between the ad and the jeans? (i'm not criticising, really, i didnt understand:D)

  • Likewise, I think the idea is just to show something cool/funny and than display the logo so that people associate :)

  • @misantrooper

Probably the biggest commercials purpose is to write down their brand in ones consciousness. Rest simply doesn't matter much

  • @misantrooper

    he wears jeans! ;-)

  • @misantrooper : Spike Jonze specializes in a type of advertising where he is called a Concept Director, meaning many things, including the fact that he creates the concepts he directs and that the ad is concept oriented. The slogan is Wide Open meaning that the world of Levi's is Wide Open to anything . . . so if you get pulled into the emergency room while wearing Levi's jeans expect Wide Open possibilities, like the entire room breaking into song. Hope that helps. :D

  • @misantrooper its about the same relationship a gorilla playing the drums has with chocolate.

  • @misantrooper the guy on the streacher is wearing a pair (he is also the one that sings first)

  • @misantrooper yes I can explain it. most people don't watch commercials or care about them so spike plays into that. he creates a comfortable tone from an upsetting situation. the contrast to that is the sudden flatline sound, changing the mood and drawing the attention back just as the crucial full frame shot of the jeans rolls. you only need to see the shot once because this is the memorable moment that contrasts the rest of the film.

  • @misantrooper you associate the transformative positive experience you have just observed with the brand name at the end

  • tainted love

  • the guys says his name is richard thats spike jonze's real name

  • It's Adam.

  • Isn't the guy singing raab himself?

  • no.

  • looks like him

  • Awesome

  • ROFL that was soo random

  • CLASSIC!! I will never forget this levi's ad, even 10 years later it's still relevant!

  • that had absolutely nothing to do with jeans

  • its widdddddddde open

  • Oh my god.....What.....ha ha ha ha ha

  • My favorite part is when it goes:

silence... beep beep... OHHHHHH tainted love!!

  • i think its the best part of the vid!

  • Panels! Ha!!!

  • Paddles, but yes I laughed too :)

  • i remember this commerical, i loved it

  • Meant to write:

    PADDLES!!!

    Spike's the genius (not me).

  • PANELS!!!

    Jonze is a genius.

  • Wow, I'd never seen this, thanks for sharing.

  • me encanta este video!!! jejejej

Easily one of my All-Time favorite commercials.

  • Perhaps my favorite commercial ever.

  • Its great :DDD

  • why did the take it off the air? it's one of my fave commercials. wonder if the cardiologist assoc. had something to do with it.

  • i remeber this commercial from 1996

  • I remember this text from bac in '96

  • lol

  • Awesome Ad!!

  • such a dark commercial, but i love it...

  • Spike made this in response to

doing a Soft Sell for Levis Jeans

    - the song is by Soft Cell

  • i use to love when this commercial was on tv everyone else thought i was crazy but i loved it and i never forgot it

  • Still funny.

We miss you, Spike!! Work more!

  • This commercial randomly came to my mind last night, so I had to look on You Tube to see if it was on here! I used to love this commercial!!!

  • The actor who gets inflated by the oxygen tank is the same person who plays the 'dog' in Daft Punk's "Da Funk"

  • how do u know that?

  • It says so in the Spike Jonze music videos DVD booklet.

  • énorme :D

  • maestro jonze!

  • The first time I saw this commercial it caught me totally of guard. It was so excellent. At the risk of sounding corny, I tell you it lifted my spirits. Further, although I never saw it again, I have never forgotten it.

  • This is my favorite commercial of all time! Is there any way I could download this or get a copy of it somehow. It cracks me up.

  • Somebody: PUT this on myspace.

  • That black lady sure can sing!

  • Jamais autant rigolé pour une vidéo.

  • Best Commercial EVER!!!

  • Best commercial on the planet!!!!
