I assume the point of this is more to learn how to string a sentence together and learning the relevant nouns / colour names than to get the 'right' answer, as in many cases you can't know in advance what the chosen colour will be. The great thing about this game is that it can then be extended into real life, by pointing to objects in the environment and asking what colour they are.
This game is great! I just used it here in South Korea with 3rd grade English Learners and they had a great time playing. Yes, oranges are orange, but it's the first time I saw ALL the kids' hands go up to guess an answer! Thanks so much for sharing!
These are the best lessons I have seen for foreign learners but I think they are a little to fast for the absolute beginner. I will have my sister order a dvd and send it to me in Vietnam. Thanks for your hard work.
you showed the marker 3 times and they were all different colors... almost everything could have been a different color, but still it entertained me, lol
if your going to sit there and complain then thats pretty sad it's all about the children not you. Stop wasting your time complaining and make your own video if you think that you can do any better!.
Wow, this video really makes some people angry.....
Yes, we all know "The orange is orange" is ridiculous - and so are many of the other examples....
Keep in mind however that this video was created for children who DON'T SPEAK ENGLISH. As the maker of this video and an ESL teacher I can testify that most of the Korean 5 year olds that I teach can not put 4 English words together - even when 2 of them are the same. Hence, the need to practice saying "The orange is orange".
@wearebusybeavers The level of repetition is incredibly helpful to my toddler. I wish I could find the same level of language introduction in languages other than English.
@wearebusybeavers "The orange is orange" sounds ridiculous. But for those who only start to learn English it sounds also paradoxical in a way and is a good example of how the same word in English can have an adjectival meaning and a noun meaning at the same time.
I have got The Busy Beavers program. Its great! My child is delighted with the program!
Its wonderful!!! My daughter really likes it. She goes to bed and gets up with The Busy Beavers program. For some days she has learnt some songs, repeats the whole sentences...
But the most important, she likes English!!!
She finds it fun to learn English and she really enjoys learning English
