Hi, can someone tell me if there has been any movie made to depict the Normany battles? I am aware of the movies on D-Day landings, but the fierce battles after that which slowed down the allied forces are not captured anywhere in a movie to my understanding. skirmishes are shown in Saving Private Ryan but a complete movie on them.
@whata86 yes, the most famous one being the Hollywood version made in 1960s starring Henry Fonda, Robert Shaw, have that dvd, i got the entire dvd series of Band of Brothers. There are some documentaries by History channel on different battles of WW2 and the Battle of the Bulge is one of them which I have and is really good.

@punchsnakeman it took seven russians to push one starved badly equipped german soldier back, the russian tanks were the most heavily armored in the world, no american tank could withstand a russian tank.
in normandy it took 5 american soldiers to push one german landser back.
the best overall stand had the finnish soldier in the winter war followed by the german soldier, followed by the canadian soldier which proved much more efficient in normandy.

They used soldiers from countries that they had invaded and made them join there ranks except for the Polish. And whatabout Italy? Also, the US was fighting on more than one front too. So Germany wasnt the only one. They did indeed use ALOT of humans and by the end were using anyone they could get there hands on to fight for the fatherland. (old men, HJs, volksturm, etc).

I am aware of the movies on D-Day landings, but the fierce battles after that which slowed down the allied forces are not captured anywhere in a movie to my understanding. skirmishes are shown in Saving Private Ryan but a complete movie on them.

They used soldiers from countries that they had invaded and made them join there ranks except for the Polish. And whatabout Italy? Also, the US was fighting on more than one front too. So Germany wasnt the only one. They did indeed use ALOT of humans and by the end were using anyone they could get there hands on to fight for the fatherland. (old men, HJs, volksturm, etc).

@BlakeC94 I wouldnt say not to count them AT ALL!! The Hjs made up alot more than 2 divisions! even fought in Normandy w the 12thSSPanzer. They were also used as flak soldiers all over. The volksturm/civil squadrons played a significant role in defending the fatherland in late 44-45. Old men were and young soldats were the last hope for Germany, but no, theyre not true soldiers rght? WTF?? Yes Germany was a great force, never said they werent, but it was alot more than regular german soldats

@BlakeC94 I also would say that Germany was a powerful force! no doubt. And with a smarter/better military strategist other than Hitler they could have done more damage than they did. My point was that Hitler used his soldats sparingly and stupidly until he realized they werent disposable. Then he had to turn to alternate methods of revitalizing the wehrmacht/SS's numbers. No doubt the soldiers were used up w/blitzkreig tactics which led to high losses +irreplaceable trianed soldats

WWII was a total victory by the allies, no armistice took place.
