Practice Practice Practice. In my player mode do some scrimages before a game, if your feeling it play the scheduled game, if not scrimmage again. Try working on speed, offense and ballhandling (PG,SG,SF) Work on your layup b4 working on your dunk, or work on your dunk until you get Rimgrazer. (Only temporary) Work on your steal when your satisfied with your Offense. This is how I got my 6'3" SF to the rookie of the year n season MVP, IDK why kids are cheating skill points these days.

This is a great game and it really does take a lot of getting used to. The My Player mode will most likely frustrate you to no end when you first start playing it, but you will get better. Just play smart and take smart shots.

yeah haha it is all meant to make it tougher if your destroying. in my player mode me and the laker swept the quarters, semi's and conf. finals and then in the first three games of the champ. i avg 12.5 min a game, and ofc we lost everygame. but then they played me like 20 min a game and we won 4 straight :D

but make sure you don't hold down the trigger all the time or you'll empty your players energy meter. Once your player's energy is gone he may DIE...

For the people who are saying that they suck and they cant defend please dont give up on your self. When I started playing NBA 2K10 I was complete garbage. In my player mode I couldnt even keep a constant C a team grade. Now I get A+ every game. I remember I broke my controller for how mad I got at the game cause I was garbage lol. Just keep trying and trust me you WILL get better.
