I remember being five or six years old and getting this for my birthday. And of course, even though I didn't know the backstory of Khan or Star Trek in general, I thought this was the greatest story ever told by man...on tape.
I remember buying this on cassette version along with Star Trek-TMP, Star Trek III, Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, Raiders Of The Lost Ark, The Temple Of Doom, Gremlins and V from Woolworths in 1984 - they were about £1.99 each.
Does anyone know who composed the original music for these? Some, such as the Star Wars books (at least the movie adaptations), used the music from the actual movies, but the same few cues were used for several others.
I always love some story's special page turn signals and how the narrator mentions them. "...when you hear the communicator beep like this:" LOL! Most of the time though, it was just chimes or a simple "doot" sound.
I have ones for the 3 original Star Wars movies but I never saw any for the Star Trek franchise. The Power Records series had a Star Trek story but that was around when I was born (1974). My older brother collected the Marvel comics monster ones, along with Hulk and Spider-Man.
The original episode, Space Seed, was broadcast on February 16, 1967. The movie Wrath of Khan was released on June 4, 1982. The time between these was 15 years in real-time as well as time passed within the Star Trek Universe.

I had something like this one of those small records, but not Wrath of Kahn, I had Star Trek 3 Search for Spock. I also had Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Man, those read along records were so cool!
I have to find the narrator for this thing... does anyone know where I can get any info on him? Below here it says Chuck Bishop but I can't find any info on him...
Takes me back to Woolworths, Rustington in the early 80's - I think they were about 1.99 each...Star Trek The Motion Picture, Star Trek 2-The Wrath Of Khan, Star Trek 3 - The Search For Spock, Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, Return Of The Jedi, Raiders Of The Lost Ark, Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom, Ghostbusters, Gremlins and 'V'.
Wow - this is sooo good but oh, such a pity, no a total clck-up about that awful Voice-over for Kirk - makes him sound retarded or something, who let that guy near the mic??!!
I actually have this on LP still. Thanks for posting. Do you have the first film and the search for spock read alongs? If so, could you post those too? That would rock!
remember having this on tape as a kid. still have it somewhere

Did Chuck Riley or Jerry Bishop narrate this "Star Trek" read-along?

Chuck Riley

That's what I thought! Well, I guess he would've narrated them "Star Wars Prequel" read-alongs before he died, but he narrated the trilogy, though.

Oh, I had this and the other ones for the other movies. I also had the Power Records LP comic adventures.
