how original, the uniform cuff tittle says adolf hitler and the collar tabs are the ss ones, the most common ss collar tabs you find in any ww2 repro business, even when these insignias were only worn until ww2,the allgemeine soldiers had mostly numbers or other symbols in the collar tabsback in the 30s
That's because they are fags - Queer Eye fot the Nazi guy - makes perfect sense to me that most great military men, aside from being genuis strategists of war, had a fierce fashion sense - then when you see that most of these great military leaders, like Alexander the Great, were queer - makes me come to the conclusion that most military sorts are closet homosexuals.
Hm, let's make a quick accounting here: you are denigrating one form of hatred/intolerance - Nazism - by utilizing another form of hatred/intolerance - homophobia. You DO know what the Nazi's did to homosexuals, right? Is that all right with you? NO form of hatred or intolerance is acceptable to me, nor am I impressed by cheapshots or reactionism. And oriola26 and WestechWatcher are right: the Nazis have few parallels for evil in history, but they dressed pretty Goddamn sharp while they did it.
I think Helmut's BEST performance ever was in this film... especially the earlier scene where he checks into the hotel room with the little girl playing outside. He doesn't say anything... all in body movement and expression he really sells what's going on in his head.
I find him really very handsome in Ludwig, one should say, a rare beauty, but dreadful as an actor! A complete desaster, terrible, unseemingly bad for all I care! With one exception: when he plays the older and morally devastated king! That's when he - in my humble opinion - reaches an enormous quality (thanks to Visconti's direction, his make-up artist(s) and his camera man, Armando Nannuzzi, of course)

You are right. It's odd how the most evil of empires had the best dressed and booted military.

I am interested in the synchronicity about Visconti and Yukio Mishima.
Mishima loved this movie, this movie depicts Ernst Julius Röhm's SA.
Mishima also wrote the drama of "My friend hittler".
It was the drama about Röhm and "Night of the Long Knives".
Like Röhm ,Mishima actually established the private armed force named "Tatenokai".
Mishima also admired Gabriele D'Annunzio , author of "The Innocent ".
Anyway, this movie is loved in Japan.
