They cost a few dollars up to several hundred for really good rum. I recommend buying it because the taste is the best. You can also laugh at the USA for allowing cheap chinese beer but not allowing fine Cuba rum into the USA.

Beautiful beaches but it is a shame that Cubans that live in the island can not visit Varadero unless they want to be arrested by the police. Varadero is to be enjoyed by foreigners not Cubans.

It pained me to realize that our island is soooo beautiful but most of my people will never get to experience that.

Ummm - Varadero is actually the name of the town at the base of the peninsula where the resorts are. Varadero town itself is fronted by beautiful beach where all the local Cubans go. Of course, many of the locals work in the resorts too. And the tourists and locals mingle in the town itself. Since 1997 there is no law separating tourists from Cubans...but Cubans simply cant afford to stay at the resorts. That said, Varadero has a vacation spot for Cuban military to go on vacation.

@Dustinchile Yo no he tenido el gusto de visitar Cuba. Tengo muchas ganas de ir. Creo que el mundo entero esta consciente de lo que dices. Sin embargo, muchos de esos turistas que van llevan con ellos artículos con la idea de dejarlos para los cubanos. Yo en lo personal, tengo amigos y familia que han visitado Cuba, y llevan desde medicinas que no encuentran allá, hasta golosinas para los niños.
