  • GREAT VIDEO! Looks like you guys have a great time.

  • Yeah the jazz was crap and the whole changing display speed with tempo thing annoyed the hell out of me. All the interesting photos only flashed up for a millisecond.

  • It seems like the video was created in order to compliment the jazz piece. I don't think that was the intention of this video. Would have liked detailed instructions and techniques than the whole fast changing scenes at the tempo of the music. Final result is: Crappy and uninformative.

  • So what do you use to make the papercrete water resistant?

  • @Quranite

    elastomeric, stucco, latex paint, etc.

  • I'll huff and puff and blow your papered plastered house down! lol

  • that´s very nice.

I heve some questions i wish you can answer me:

1.-won´t termites and water destroy papercrete?

2.- why using papercrete and not cob to build a house? (i am asking because i find both as good options)

3.- what about foundations, it needs rock foundations, right?

    thanks man

  • The best place to ask these questions is on Papercreters. Click the link in the text description of the video and join. It's all free. The url is also displayed at the conclusion of the video.

  • 1. There have been no reports of any termites eating or tunneling inside of papercrete. I am aware of one instance where where a nearby termite colony living in a woodpile placed some tunnels made from firewood sawdust along the surface of a wall, but never tunneled inside the papercrete itself. It seems that the cement keeps them out.

Water can damage papercrete. Papercrete should always be kept dry, just like typical lumber construction should be kept dry.

  • 2. Cob and Papercrete are different materials with different physical properties. Typically, Papercrete will be a far better insulator than Cob, but Cob will typically have much more thermal mass.

Both are good when used properly, and can even compliment each other and be used together.

    3. Any structure, is only as good as its foundation. Cob, Papercrete, Lumber, Stone, Brick, Strawbale, ... all need foundations.

The best Papercrete structures will have quality foundations.

  • who's playing on this song??

  • nevermind, I saw it at the end

  • It's from Kenton's "Birthday in Britan" album from 1973.

The audio quality on this video isn't very good, but it successfully jazzes up building construction using scrap paper and cement. ;)

If Kenton can jazz that up, he can jazz anything up.

  • I like the infos you provided!

What is the lifetime of a papercrete house ?

    How it react to water?

  • Great job Slurryguy! Happy Birthday to Papercreters!

  • Keep on keepin on!

  • NEAT! Building as ART.

    Held together with SWEAT!

    Beautiful jobs, y'all!

    Great video, too!

  • Nice Job, SlurryGuy! Creters Rock!

  • I agree. We Papercreters do Rock!

In this particular situation, aren't we really all jazzed?
