im 14 and my friend showed me how to make a wooden spear . We sharpened the edge of the stick and split the top into four pieces, my friend did this sorta thing before, but i didnt catch anything. Good fun though.!

You do not need to do all of that. All it takes to spear fish is, just take a regular spear, slowly move the spear close to the fish, then in one quick motion, pin the fish to the ground. Then simply bend down and grab the fish with your hand. In all reality, those hooks he made, probably won't hold the fish onto the spear(because the fish will be flapping violently.)
a better way is to just get a long stick, a few cheap knifes with wooden handles, matching sizes or for what u want em for, take off the wooden handles and ull have something that resembles a throwing knife, a metal frame with 3 holes in it and a blade on top, put some these in ur survival kit, u wont ruin ur fish, and ull actually get land animals then just a point as its actually sharper
Ok first off a good survival spear is a minimum of 6 foot i you are in the 5,2-5,9 range if you are 6,0 or over you need a 7 foot however tall you are add a foot to it that will give you good range for your height, other than that great video :)

I appreciate your enthusiasm but if anyone depended on your teachings they would die! cordage is the basis of many bushcrafts, including this example! and can be made far more efficiently especially if you are going to kill the sapling! (roots will shrink and be more pliable). Nettle stalks are an easier option! I use scissors (shears to a bushman) but I'd never use them to made cord because the maintenance of the tool would be to time consuming!

pretty complicated way.
Way easier is it to split the top of the spear in 4 pieces, sharpen all 4 over fire. Done.
Much easier to do, effectiv and doesnt need so much material. Also its more robust.

skills with the flint and steel? I appreciate your enthusiasm but if anyone depended on your teachings they would die! cordage is the basis of many bushcrafts, including this example! and can be made far more efficiently especially if you are going to kill the sapling! (roots will shrink and be more pliable). Nettle stalks are an easier option! I use scissors (shears to a bushman) but I'd never use them to made cord because the maintenance of the tool would be to time consuming!

I don't see the "hooks" functioning very well...save yourself the hassle of finding rope and carving a twig...just use a straight spear.
