  • If you pirates were smart like me, you'd report piracy, get a reward from the government, (I only got $10k) but you can gain up to $200k+, then use that money to buy software.

  • I was steamed at first about this, because I though that it trivialized piracy to call a copy wright infringement piracy. After seeing the video, I must admit that it was pretty funny.

  • LOL

  • ummmmm... you guys do know this is a spoof right?

  • capitalistic propaganda...

  • Is this a joke?I lolled so hard!

  • was that video made by adults? its the most ridiculous video ever

  • ROFL wtf!!!!!!!!!

  • Arrrggghhh!!!

  • Comment removed

  • oh god its youtube spam.

  • communist!!!

  • wot a load of propoganda.....

    Keep downloading kids!

  • very well done, good message, awesome filmmaking

  • Actually now that I look at this video I think the message might be telling employees to report any pirating at the companies they work at. As the pirate mentions his boss, and the host says "....for doing his captain's dirty work." Ethically I can definitely see the justification here, and actually I dont think companies should pirate software for production. Still it's not very practical, if you report your company for pirating, that means your company may fail leaving you wtihout a job.

  • If not for P2P, I wouldn't buy any software since there's a good chance something will be incompatible/vaporise/turn to shit; there are tons of legal freeware alternatives out there. Now at least I can try software out before I buy it.

  • hehe that's hilarious.

  • let hack tthere site :-)

  • awkward sometimes they tape there swash-buckles to their thighs

  • You sirs are an insult to Chris Hansen, who tried to solve actual problems.

  • It's a parody, get the stick out of your ass and take it for what it is.

    A joke.

  • No this is not a joke, if it was it would be funny.

  • I found it funny..your opinion is irrelevant to the fact that this is nothing more than a joke.

Parody. As I said before, get the stick out of your ass over something trivial.

  • I like my stick fine just where it is thank you.

  • That's right, this aint a joke, it was produced by Business Software Allience a trade group representing Microsoft, Apple and several other software companies.

I agree that people should pay for what they like and can afford, but if you already know you won't buy the creation, it doesn't affect them in any way whether you gain access to their data or not. There's no marginal cost to them, and you can't make any money off this data either.

This is just greed, and will fire back on them

  • I was subtle, but you understood what I was getting at. +9001

  • people in usa have a funny ideas xD

its must by sponsored by microsoft :P

  • How does this only have 2 stars? IT'S HILARIOUS. Time to put on me "eyeliner, eyepatch, and pirate cap" and storm Ye internet for me booty. YARRRRR.

  • -_- Wow... I thought it was a joke. No one in there right mind will report ANYONE. I mean come on, who don't have some kind of Hack for a game cheat or an emulator, or "free" music. You might as well round up the whole country, and then fine all your employees. ^___^ Yes, the person next to you is a Pirate. Usually, if I watch a movie, and I think it is crap, last time I watch it. If I watch a movie and I like it, I buy the DVD for the Special Features! Not the movie itself. ^___^ Anyone else?

  • LOL!!!

  • Who pays for anything anymore. I steal cars and books and boats, YARRRR!

  • You know, the more you tell people not to do something...the more it makes them wanna do it.

  • lol at the fake comments at the start

  • Nice video. I'm gonna download it without paying right away.

    Haharr!

  • if they really want to promote anti software piracy, they need to do a better job

This video makes you want to beat the crap out of the producer.

  • Oh snaps..I thought this was about the book to catch a pirate.. too bad..

  • holy snakes! That's great. I like the reno 911 effect

  • I find this to be bloody hilarious. I'm glad to see our enemy is wasting money to entertain us.

  • what a stinking pile of....

  • Booo

  • that was pretty good. i don't know why this video only has a two star rating.

  • I know! i just gave it 5 stars. it must be all the pirates rating it low. lol

  • what bad acting.

    this is terribly fake

  • Hilarious!

  • Man I feel bad for singers, all they only get multi-million contracts STOP PIRATING GUYZ

  • @Trode22 are you freaking kidding me? do you know anything about music industry? jeez

  • @deaddevil6 Woah, blast from the past. I sometimes buy my music now.

  • They stop making computer games, because of piracy. What's the point of making them, if they can't earn on it?

  • the gaming industry is broken as heck i'm all for another games instury crash. too bad about their jobs i guess but u phrased it as if i'd be missing out or something so i guess u dont really care about that.w ell, cya

  • Piracy is like knife crime. No matter what you try and do to prevent it, or ban it or encourage people to change their ways, people who are strapped for cash will ALWAYS go for the cheap (or free) alternative. Why pay £150+ for something you can get for free? I see their logic but it is ultimately wrong. Maybe is the software producers actually priced their products fairly and affordable, then the primary loss would be made back through volume. I remain fairly neutral on the matter.

  • Another day, another download

  • AARGH ye'll never take me Diskbloons and pieces of eightgig wile thar be a drop of connectivity in the inter webs!

Seriously though, piracy is and always has been a reaction over pricing.Think back to 1992, for some of you this may be hard but bear with me.The average price of an audio cd was 20$ and the average price of a pc game was 50-60.Even in the age of piracy these prices are pretty stable because the products prices are set in a way to recoup development costs and bring immediate profit

  • I'm not saying that piracy is a good thing, far from it.A pricing structure like this makes back the development investment quickly, after that the lions share of the retail price is profit after deductions for shipping, manufacturing, packaging, and the media the game/music is on.Piracy is wrong, there is no way around that conclusion but propaganda like this shows a misdiagnosis of the symptoms as the illness.Bring prices down to a reasonable amount and the loss of profit per usit will be made

  • *Bring the prices down a reasonable amount and the loss of profit per unit will be easily made up by quantity of units sold.

  • As long as my tax dollars aren't being used to fund this sorta crap; I have no problem with them hunting down people who download software. However, if they are using my tax dollars I can think of 10,000 other things that would be a better use of MY money.

  • Good one, that was hilarious

  • Corporate greed wins all the time, gentlemen. Pirates are evil and everybody knows it!

That said, pirates are still cooler than corporate henchmen.

  • i do that all the time and no one has caught me LOL

  • Be the envy of all your friends! Become a snitch. LOL!

  • yeah, that will stop us!!! LOL

    pirated stuff rules!!

  • Lol, this video is hilarious

  • ARR! you can never stop piracy!! get used to it!

  • P2P will never go away. Hail P2P networking! long live P2P!

  • wtf the description says what a sicko how is he a sicko for pirating a movie or what ever

  • 0:25 He really does look like a sexual predator there.

  • fugget ya mother f**cks....Its Pirates life for me,,AGGGHH....

  • LOL.

Forever I be a Pirate, ARRR!

  • lol uh huh

  • LMAO!! terrific parody of to catch a predator

  • YAAARR

  • wtf...

  • whatever you say, internet.

  • No one can stop us pirates! AARGH

  • Comment removed

  • AARRGHH Crack e'm and Jack E'm

  • That's not a Scimitar, that's a Cutlass...

  • why do people care? logicaly, if you cant get people to use your stuff for FREE, how the hell are you going to talk them into paying $50 for it... I think, as long as noone is using the files to make money, then it shouldnt matter. if someone download the latest movie to watch and they like it, they usualy go out and buy it on dvd so they can get the extra fetures...

  • Isn't that the Groosalugg? :)

  • Suggesting a pirate is like a sexual deviant? Ironic, considering these are very often children, trying to avoid being screwed by the predatory RIAA, BSA, etc.

  • well said my brother.

  • if only that happened.... no wait. it doesent. back to tPB

  • IMO i thought this was pretty funny xD I DO download Mostly just movies (I did download fallout 3) It stills makes me a pirate i guess xD

  • Wtf? This is so incredibly fake. I've never heard one real case of someone being that stupid. There are a lot better and safer ways to obtain illegal software (notice how they never mentioned the name, because their cheap fraud youtube video company couldn't afford the rights to any actual piece of software). Most pirates STAY online to get their software. Physical exchanges usually only occur between trusted pirate peers.

  • You do not know how to take a jok, eh?

  • ...Subtle.

  • lame....

  • I hate how even people who don't know their getting pirated software THEY GET SCREWED INSTEAD OF THE PIRATE plus on top of that you can consider the actor pirate in the parody video a whistle blower saying his boss doesn't want licensed software and the whistle blower gets jail time instead of his boss..especially if you don't know how to report it this problem to the authorities and or scared at this scenario what is one to do I mean seriously people

  • I laughed pretty hard at this video....

.... then I saw the end, and laughed HARDER!

Some anti-piracy group actually expects people to take this video seriously? At first I thought it was a joke or something.

  • It's hard for me to buy the moral outrage people show at the slightest hint that laws will be enforced. It is not as if pirates are out stealing bread to feed their families.

  • pirating games is legal as long as you arent selling the copies =]

  • Argh, these pirating laws are BS. For hard, tangible property, you have to know that it was stolen in order for you to commit a crime. This is how it should be applied to with downloading media. With all the downloadable content out there, there is no real way to prove somebody knew for a fact it was pirated material. There was a recently a court ruling that said otherwise, that judge was dumbass. Lets have a little consistancy in the law.

  • why does the pirate look liike dave chappel? lol

  • i love pirating movies and video games and software and everything...woot

  • Maybe if programs didn't cost thousands of dollars and companies didn't try to suck every cent they possibly could out of consumers via commercial licenses, people wouldn't have to steal. There's no reason 3d modeling software and photo-doctoring programs should cost $3,000-$4,000 in my opinion.

  • This really sucks, I guess that's what you get when laws were invented.

  • i suppose the people who record things on TV and on the radio should be thrown in jail too...... there are always going to be people who want a "nice copy " of things that will buy product ... and there will alwasy be people who cant afford it and recored a cheap version

  • isnt there people getting raped and murderd out there?

  • yes but the government doesn't care about them they only care about earning money for themselves. They will stop at nothing an spend a shit load of money to stop pirates but not rape and murder.

  • More money is spent daily searching for said rapists and murderers than are spent browsing a chatroom online. Usually, it's a small slip-up that causes a pirate to be caught. At that point, you can't possibly blame it on the cops... the pirate was stupid.

  • You're almost right about one thing though; I do plan on becoming an officer. And a lawyer once I'm done with college. I also joined the Air Force.

    I'm a legal eagle o.O

  • i never blamed it on the cops. and yes a lot of pirates are stupid.

  • LOL this was funny as hell. With the amount of pirated software my friend circle has alone, we could be jailbirds for life >.>

  • -Writes the names of all their management in death note-

  • lolz

  • It's really not a laughing matter I just read some Boston university student got fined 700 ,000 dollars for downloading 30 songs.. these record companies are ruining people's lives over this . A jury fined this guy too . What the hell is wrong with Americans to think it is neccesary to ruin someone's life over some music downloaded?? I just read it on google news.. AUG 1 2009 judgement.. Very sickening . ANother was some mother of 4 judgement was in the millions

  • sure they do but ruining someone's life over it?? If it were somebody you knew you wouldnt be so JUDGEMENTAL . Plus they snooped into these people's computers without warrants . I mean you're evil and you would no condone that punishment on yourself. It;s funny people who usually tell me things that I dont agree with down the line learn what I mean thru their life's experience.

  • I hope your CAPS LOCK isn't correcting my spelling. If you check your local dictionary, you'll see I have no problems with spelling properly.

Regardless who I know, people have jobs to do. If my best friend robbed a bank, I wouldn't want him thrown in jail. It doesn't make it any less of a crime.

Chat room information is travelling through cyberspace, and is certainly not confined to your computer. Who the hell gets issued a warrant for searching open information?

  • And as far as "ruining someone's life over it," this can be interpreted backwards. You're looking at the ends. Try looking at the means. Piracy is illegal, but you knowingly do it. Therefore, you are aware of the consequences and decide to take the risk.

Take the consequences as they come and keep your whining to a minimum. You knew what you were doing, and that's all the JUDGMENT necessary.

  • we all know your one of those old people who wish they could pirate but don't have the technical expertise to do it. lol. lamer.

  • LOL! Oh, I like that one, boy. I really like that one. It's always been my dream to skip my own generation and be, at least, 40. Never liked you guys anyway, you bunch of fuck-ups.

    Baby Boomers! HURRAH!

  • i knew it. your one of those legal eagles. and you get pissed at the pirates because your jealous of them. its ok. i mean i would be jealous too if i had to pay for stuff and some clown was getting the same **** for free.

  • I assure you, I'm not jealous. It's a shame you've taken what I said out of context to the point you've missed my initial post entirely.

For you, I'll say it again.

If you are caught and imprisoned, it's your fault; you knew the risk.

That's not to suggest I dont know the risk(s) of the things I do. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Just because I know the risks doesn't mean I dont do it. I'm simply aware.

I also know the life risks of riding a motorcycle. Still, I'm not dead yet.

  • of course there are risks. some people are more risk averse than others. i like the motorcycle anecdote. There are pirates, there are the anti-pirates, and then there are outlaws. Outlaws are people who supposedly download stuff but don't upload stuff. Hard to catch an outlaw :)

  • o.O I think I might be an outlaw...

    Can legal eagles be outlaws?

  • Sure of course. If you masquerade as a legal eagle to everyone else when in reality you are an outlaw. Anyone could pull that off without a hitch if they keep their mouth shut. :)

  • LOL I'd rather be a legal eagle in the eyes of the public. At least, until my laptop is confiscated >.> And if they take my Wii... I think i'd seriously be done for.

  • Your laptop won't get confiscated. First they send you a cease and desist letter (usually) and then they sue you :)

I dunno about the wii. I don't like it anyway :)

  • I bet you'd like it if you didn't have to pay for the games.

I was going to sell the Wii a couple months ago, but I decided to screw with it a bit. I don't think I'll be letting it go anytime soon now that I have.

  • well you can pirate pc games. bu i usually buy my pc games because the ones i want are too difficult to get.

not to mention the fact that i am a xbox 360 gamer so i have to buy that stuff anyway, but i do buy and sell them on ebay.

  • If I'm not mistaken, the 360 can be softmodded to read backups from the USB. If that's the case, you can just secure the iso for a game and play it that way.

I dont pirate pc games. I only like online games, and I dont even play that anymore. The only gaming I do now is on my Wii.

  • yeh I could do that but who has the time to do all that?

  • It's not so much about time as it is about what you get in return. I have about $2000 worth of... stuff... currently pulsing through my Wii's mechanical veins, and none of it cost me a cent.

It cost me time, but the reward is far greater. Besides, I enjoyed hacking it, as I found it to be an entertaining project to tinker with something expendable at the time. Now it's invaluable.

But I guess it's a matter of priority. I'd rather hack it than buy stuff. That's just me. =/

  • wow nice :)

I tried doing it back in the day with the dreamcast with the boot disk but it didn't work. torrenting videogames is more difficult than solving a rubik's cube imo :)

i usually get my stuff for cheaper on ebay though. like when gta 4 came out i got it for 20 bucks cuz some noob forgot to watch his bids :)

  • and then i turned around and sold it for 21 bucks :) made a dollar profit and beat the game xD

  • Games are easy once you get the flow of things under control.

The hardest thing I encountered was finding a way to get export games to work on a Region Block Wii. Wasn't too hard to find something to make it work, so it pretty much functions as region free.

  • That means I play Japanese games before they get here! =D

  • It doesn't take much "technical expertise" to drag an iso image into a program and click burn.

  • most people wouldn't even know how to do that unfortunately.

  • You'd be surprised...

Some people still burn iso to DVD+R.

  • LOL. Wow. this is win.

  • that was nothing like chris hanson

  • It's a takeoff on one of the network pedophile stings. I can't remember which one.

  • "Dateline NBC with Chris Hansen"

  • The best part is the smirk the host makes after he says "right, i hear that a lot"

    lol

  • pretty funny.

as noble as this cause might be, Piracy is Impossible to Quell, and you gotta accept it.

  • about as noble as the war on drugs, and just as effective.
