This was from his first album, a bootleg released on Bainbridge, if I remember correctly. Perhaps he (or someone else) got the master and re-released as I don't recognize this artwork.
The young Jarreau's version of this song is the only one that I've ever truly liked. Don't know why. Maybe because it isn't really a ballad, but a natural jazz tune? And AJ here was (for my money at least) at his very best:) --
@stevevandien You might want to check out Nancy Wilson's version with Cannonball Adderley's group (at a more brisk tempo). Unfortunately, no one appears to have posted it on youtube at present.
Great song, great singing and delivery --- he reallllly swings :) I have this album and I still couldn't help but to listen here again and again! Thanks for posting. We definitely need more versions of great songs like these on YouTube (most that I found aren't even jazz)
