@FrayedEnds0fSanity A long journey to the far far away land of tonesmead. :-) Once there I picked up a MESA/Boogie TriAxis preamp. End of story. Lol. Oh and nice nick!
Well, you know what? Your sound is pretty darn close to Satch's. Awesome, awesome sound. Awesome video and awesome playing. By the way, I just got my JS 1000 BP in today. SAAAWEET!!!
@xBoxfReAkZz Only satch's gear will make sounds similar to satch. The amp settings are mostly irrelevant, as you can dial in just about any setting on the amp and have it sound fine. They're mostly there to dial in or out characteristics of the tone that you want. What really drives the sound is the speakers, speaker enclosure, and microphone.
@JSD1982, nice tune matey, sounds cool. What do you think of the JS1000, i was thinking of getting one soon. I already have a JS1 from the 1990 with the extra center pickup. I'm not sure if id be duplicating my collection in a psec sense......might have to get a mesa Boogie instead :-)
@xBoxfReAkZz I don't have any of satch's gear except his signature guitar. I'd suggest you find a tone that you like, not just because someone else has it. If someone else does have the tone you like, then research that and get yourself the gear that gets you in the ball park.
@2004082 Thanks! The distortion is all from the TriAxis preamp. I recorded the preamp signal direct from the outputs of the TriAxis and used a poweramp/speaker simulation plugin to get some character. Then in the effects bin on the recorded track in Cakewalk I put a light stereo delay and some reverb to add space and give it a nice stereo image. That's pretty much it.
@jasperbaba LOL so I did. I'll trust my description I wrote 2 years ago rather than my fuzzy memory. Apologies. Elixir nanowebs are basically the same thing though.
@bladez765 I recorded the direct output of the Triaxis pre-amp and used a convolution plugin to simulate the sound of the power amp driving a 4x12" speaker cabinet.
@smartti1970 Recording a preamp directly will get you a fizzy tone that is not polished. The power-amp through the guitar speaker cabinet and even the microphone placement have a huge impact on the recorded tone you get. What's coming out of the preamp is nowhere close to what you're used to hearing on professional recordings. I'm going to have to put together a video describing all this; I get lots of questions about this stuff. No I don't monitor with the software.
@jsd1982 thanks very much for your reply.. i'm always searching for the best results in direct recording.. the MEsa Studio Preamp has amazing recording outputs.. check my video, but the disto is difficult to tam and retro sounding, (old shool metal like first album metalica) I'm just trying at the moment the V-Twin Rack, a totaly different beast than the pedal...
@jsd1982 please do. :) I also have a triaxis and gforce but due to shipping problems I can't get a 2:90 and the speaker simulation which would really be great to start getting THE sound. I am not sure how to get those or to make setup simple just buy an AxeFx which I have been looking at. Anyway, a video describing all this would really be great. I m beginning to learn these things. I just absolutely love your tone. Cheers!!!
hey is the js1000 a good guitar? i was looking for a recommendation before i went and bought it blindly. i have the choice between the 1000 and the 1200. which one would be better?
Outstanding!!!! That sounds so close to my TriAxis & 2 : ninety running out my Avatar 4x12's I'm using Vintage 30's and 70th Anniversary's. Did you make a emulator or anything? I want that sound for my recordings lol

woooww... i hve a epiphone les paul... and a want a guitar thats give me that sound! do u think if i buy mics hambuckers could get it? or... buying witch guitar???
I found out the hard way your sound is so much more than just your guitar. (IF) you have low quality gear just deal with it for now. Put (LOTS OF CASH AWAY) And buy a good Amp/Rig, Guitar, Cables, Pickups, Tubes, And don't skimp on the little things it all makes a deference. People always make the same mistake of puddle jumping from junk gear to slightly less junk gear. Buy the time your done you've bought the good stuff 2 or 3 times.
The RG2570 looks like a quality instrument but I've never played one myself. Assuming you have the wood, pickups, and preamp there's no reason you shouldn't be able to get this tone!
Good advice! I will take it into consideration when I practice it. I see you're a detail oriented guy :) Nice to know. Duplicating the notes isn't hard, but duplicating the feel is VERY hard!
Maybe there's a misunderstanding here. I think you have a JS1000 and the sound is great! My JS100 sounds thin and dead, which I blame on weak Pickups and tin can tremolo. Nothing wrong with Boogies here (I do prefer Vox though)
I do indeed has a JS-1000 (one thousand). Using the DiMarzio PAF Pro (neck) and Fred (bridge) pickups. Depending on the configuration the guitar sounds almost too bright at times, definitely brighter than my Les Paul.
hey man, on ur lead and rythym channels, which lights of the fx loop on the triaxis are lighting? also, on ur les paul hav u got da action on da pick ups set close to da strings? gr8 tone wud appreciate da help.

Lol thanks. Have you seen my gear walk-through video? I don't mention it but that EDIROL UA-1000 has a HI-Z input (high impedance) so you can directly plug in an instrument. I can use revalver on that input and it works beautifully. You really can't do it well with a standard PC sound card, it wasn't designed to handle that kind of signal and it also has bad latency.
daaaMN! DUDE YOU ROCK TOTALLY I LOVE THE SOUND I WILL LOVE TO KNOW HOW I CAN GET THAT KIND OF TONE AND EVERYTHING YOU JUST ROCK MAN KEEP IT UP!!!! THATS THE WAY TO PLAY AN ELECTRIC GUITAR
dude you rock!! right now this is the song that i'm working on because i'm going to play this in my guitar recital :) so I put this video in my favorites so i can watch it all the time and learn from it. thanks dude you rock!!
Great comment! I play it differently every time. That middle section is just all improv for me. I sometimes get carried away just trying to keep the guitar making noise instead of pausing for the melody! I gotta work on that.
Your tone is great, don't get me wrong, I love it, but even before reading the description, I could tell something was "fake" about it. You GOTTA get a cab for that thing!
Damn! Foiled! I do have a MESA traditional 4x12" cab but it's such a pain to set up miking and all that to try to get a good sound. I don't have proper isolation between the monitors and the cab (they're in the same room) so it's near impossible to hear the real sound coming from the mike thru the monitors. Thanks for the comment!
To be honest I notice very little tone difference. I had to change because the tubes in it (got from eBay) were buzzing and crackling. As far as tone, JJ high-gain tube set gives obviously more gain and a little bit more hiss noise, but sounds beautiful.
ReValver MkII is a great amp sim but using it for ONLY cab sim would not be using it to its full potential and you probably wouldn't get your money's worth. If it's just cab sim you're after (you have a real preamp) then you can get away with using a good free convolver plugin and a good library of impulse files. Revalver does come with a nice library of impulse files but I've found some free ones that are just as good if not better (this is based on your taste).
Hi I have a marshall head..Im looking to use the amp sim on this ...as its convolution ....looks really cool..using impulse responses...Would u recommend this cab sim over say pod x3s? thanks
Sorry, I've never used pod x3s cab sim. Cab simulation is all about impulse responses, so if you have a good impulse file then virtually any convolver plugin will do the trick for you.
Okay thanks very much...thats the thing though this impulse response cab sim is new really...I mean pod x3 doesnt use it i dont think...I think a fine setup would be my marshall head with my analogue pedals in front into revalver s convolution impulse responses cab sim with delay then covolution reverb after...
that licked ass! that kicked ass.. one letter up makes a difference. nice playing, that harmonic at 2:45 was delicious. i came from watching your constant motion cover which was also great, how can i get that systematic chaos mixed w/o guitars?

When you play the release bending (00:05) play it a little bit fast.
Listen better the song.Satriani plays a fast release bending.
So play fast from G# to F# .
The first doesn't have to sound too much present.
You play every note separated from the other one..
Try to play them more legato..
See you.
RickInRock84 2 years ago

Your tone is great, don't get me wrong, I love it, but even before reading the description, I could tell something was "fake" about it. You GOTTA get a cab for that thing!
Petrucciisgod123 3 years ago
Damn! Foiled! I do have a MESA traditional 4x12" cab but it's such a pain to set up miking and all that to try to get a good sound. I don't have proper isolation between the monitors and the cab (they're in the same room) so it's near impossible to hear the real sound coming from the mike thru the monitors. Thanks for the comment!

lol stfu. watch my other vids where in most I AM standing up. I was just lazy this day. It's the playing, not the standing that counts :)

Do you prefer the JJ tubes instead the mesa stock ones?
ivansandoval777 3 years ago
To be honest I notice very little tone difference. I had to change because the tubes in it (got from eBay) were buzzing and crackling. As far as tone, JJ high-gain tube set gives obviously more gain and a little bit more hiss noise, but sounds beautiful.

Hi grey stuff...do u think revalver is best out there for cab sim?
thanks
BRADHblackdragon 3 years ago
ReValver MkII is a great amp sim but using it for ONLY cab sim would not be using it to its full potential and you probably wouldn't get your money's worth. If it's just cab sim you're after (you have a real preamp) then you can get away with using a good free convolver plugin and a good library of impulse files. Revalver does come with a nice library of impulse files but I've found some free ones that are just as good if not better (this is based on your taste).

Hi I have a marshall head..Im looking to use the amp sim on this ...as its convolution ....looks really cool..using impulse responses...Would u recommend this cab sim over say pod x3s? thanks
BRADHblackdragon 3 years ago
Sorry, I've never used pod x3s cab sim. Cab simulation is all about impulse responses, so if you have a good impulse file then virtually any convolver plugin will do the trick for you.
jsd1982 3 years ago
Okay thanks very much...thats the thing though this impulse response cab sim is new really...I mean pod x3 doesnt use it i dont think...I think a fine setup would be my marshall head with my analogue pedals in front into revalver s convolution impulse responses cab sim with delay then covolution reverb after...
