  • FLAWLESS VICTORY

  • Wow that tone is killer! Mind telling me how you got it ?!

  • @FrayedEnds0fSanity A long journey to the far far away land of tonesmead. :-) Once there I picked up a MESA/Boogie TriAxis preamp. End of story. Lol. Oh and nice nick!

  • greatest cover of this song ever!

  • gotta say man, never heard this song before, but its goin in my favorites. Great job!

  • Does your shirt say make me a sandwich? lol

  • clean as dog shit

  • too much picking in the melodie... u need to make your guitar sing dude...

  • This is a great cover man! You rocks!

  • Man, You got a great tone! one of the greatest youtube covers!

  • THATS WILL HELP YOU MY FRIEND !

  • Well, you know what? Your sound is pretty darn close to Satch's. Awesome, awesome sound. Awesome video and awesome playing. By the way, I just got my JS 1000 BP in today. SAAAWEET!!!

  • Nice job man.

  • que buen cover :)

  • coooool ^

  • Your tone is really cool

  • Pretty good. not the song that i was looking for though

  • i do^^ but the sound should smilar sound like satch's ;D

  • @xBoxfReAkZz Only satch's gear will make sounds similar to satch. The amp settings are mostly irrelevant, as you can dial in just about any setting on the amp and have it sound fine. They're mostly there to dial in or out characteristics of the tone that you want. What really drives the sound is the speakers, speaker enclosure, and microphone.

  • @JSD1982, nice tune matey, sounds cool. What do you think of the JS1000, i was thinking of getting one soon. I already have a JS1 from the 1990 with the extra center pickup. I'm not sure if id be duplicating my collection in a psec sense......might have to get a mesa Boogie instead :-)

    Cheers

  • how did you get the sound, so pickups? and amp settings? i try to get satriani's sound but i cant get it :/ pls help me

  • @xBoxfReAkZz I don't have any of satch's gear except his signature guitar. I'd suggest you find a tone that you like, not just because someone else has it. If someone else does have the tone you like, then research that and get yourself the gear that gets you in the ball park.

  • Great playing, man! Cheers from Ukraine! :)

  • this guitare is not heavy ???

  • @rockmaster002 Physically weighty? No, it is quite a light instrument, composed primarily of basswood.

  • i'm a aerosmith fan but this song is nice. I like you'r guitar. :)

  • @genista01 Lol this isn't Aerosmith's "Crying." But thanks!

  • How do you get that sound dude, like effects etc.? Great Video Mate

  • @2004082 Thanks! The distortion is all from the TriAxis preamp. I recorded the preamp signal direct from the outputs of the TriAxis and used a poweramp/speaker simulation plugin to get some character. Then in the effects bin on the recorded track in Cakewalk I put a light stereo delay and some reverb to add space and give it a nice stereo image. That's pretty much it.

  • dude. sweet. what guitar is that? cuz i luv ibanezz

  • @guitarguy21m Ibanez JS-1000 BP, Joe Satriani signature.

  • Comment removed

  • sex to my ears

  • Why are you so dam good...!!

  • sweet standing O good work loved it..... good listening just sweet pickin......A+

  • are these strings "more white" then regular strings or is that just the light?

if so then i have to get myself a set for my Acrylic ICE warlock. :)

  • @jasperbaba Yes, they are more white actually. Elixir nanoweb coated strings.

  • @jsd1982 in the dicription you say there DR silver stars, so wich are they?

    DR or Elixir?

  • @jasperbaba LOL so I did. I'll trust my description I wrote 2 years ago rather than my fuzzy memory. Apologies. Elixir nanowebs are basically the same thing though.

  • @jsd1982 they look good as, i think im gonna get myself a set ;D

  • @ibanezvai95 Knock yourself out, but don't blame me if you don't care for 'em ok?

  • @jsd1982 nah dont worry i wont, i wash/clean my hands and strings before i pick up the guitar anyway :) ill just try em out

  • hay necesito las tablatura de esta piesa!! cuando la consigan me avisan

  • beautiful man! mind sharing the amp settings?

  • Your sound is very good. Great legato. Very very nice! This song is hard for the legato but you have a good legato;)

  • che bellooo!! ottimo veramente... :) complimenti...

prova vedere la mia cover sempre di cryin' :) passa da me... :)

  • hi,your really good what are u running it through?

  • @bladez765 I recorded the direct output of the Triaxis pre-amp and used a convolution plugin to simulate the sound of the power amp driving a 4x12" speaker cabinet.

  • wow!!

  • Isnt the recording out of the triaxis good? do you use the sofware direct while playing?

  • @smartti1970 Recording a preamp directly will get you a fizzy tone that is not polished. The power-amp through the guitar speaker cabinet and even the microphone placement have a huge impact on the recorded tone you get. What's coming out of the preamp is nowhere close to what you're used to hearing on professional recordings. I'm going to have to put together a video describing all this; I get lots of questions about this stuff. No I don't monitor with the software.

  • @jsd1982 thanks very much for your reply.. i'm always searching for the best results in direct recording.. the MEsa Studio Preamp has amazing recording outputs.. check my video, but the disto is difficult to tam and retro sounding, (old shool metal like first album metalica) I'm just trying at the moment the V-Twin Rack, a totaly different beast than the pedal...

  • @jsd1982 please do. :) I also have a triaxis and gforce but due to shipping problems I can't get a 2:90 and the speaker simulation which would really be great to start getting THE sound. I am not sure how to get those or to make setup simple just buy an AxeFx which I have been looking at. Anyway, a video describing all this would really be great. I m beginning to learn these things. I just absolutely love your tone. Cheers!!!

  • does it have a litlle bit of reverb?

    i would be nice dude

by the way, best fucken cover on youtube

  • legato wanking lol

  • very nice

  • wow amazing!!!!!! so nice!!! you have good feeling!!!

  • Very nice thanks

  • good job, very good.

  • beautiful ... :)

  • hey is the js1000 a good guitar? i was looking for a recommendation before i went and bought it blindly. i have the choice between the 1000 and the 1200. which one would be better?

  • good work!

  • Hello,

very nice playing. What triaxis settings did you use?

  • U rock good, can u send me something a bit slower??pls

  • Man!! First PERFECT Satriani`s cover I`ve ever watched!!

    Good job, I`m impressed :)

    Keep on rockin` !

  • great cover!!!

  • bonita mimica jajajja

  • gracias!

  • Outstanding!!!! That sounds so close to my TriAxis & 2 : ninety running out my Avatar 4x12's I'm using Vintage 30's and 70th Anniversary's. Did you make a emulator or anything? I want that sound for my recordings lol

  • Heh. The Triaxis certainly does have a unique sound. No, no emulator used. I recorded the direct output of the Triaxis and used a convolution plugin to simulate the power amp and 4x12 cab.

  • Brushing off cat hair.hahaha...excellent technique A+

  • woooww... i hve a epiphone les paul... and a want a guitar thats give me that sound! do u think if i buy mics hambuckers could get it? or... buying witch guitar???

    Your cover was fantastic!!!

  • Thanks! I would suggest looking into better amplifiers first. Your Les Paul should do fine for now.

  • I found out the hard way your sound is so much more than just your guitar. (IF) you have low quality gear just deal with it for now. Put (LOTS OF CASH AWAY) And buy a good Amp/Rig, Guitar, Cables, Pickups, Tubes, And don't skimp on the little things it all makes a deference. People always make the same mistake of puddle jumping from junk gear to slightly less junk gear. Buy the time your done you've bought the good stuff 2 or 3 times.

  • You covered this very well! as RickInRock84

said, when you release the bending note, you need to release it faster. NICE Js 1000!

  • Can I get this type of tone from my 2570 it has a paf pro and fred. Same would combination.

  • The RG2570 looks like a quality instrument but I've never played one myself. Assuming you have the wood, pickups, and preamp there's no reason you shouldn't be able to get this tone!

  • 7 strings? hahaha :D

  • Haha. Sudo make me a sandwich. Best! :)

  • When you play the release bending (00:05) play it a little bit fast.

Listen better the song.Satriani plays a fast release bending.

So play fast from G# to F# .

The first doesn't have to sound too much present.

You play every note separated from the other one..

Try to play them more legato..

    See you.

  • Good advice! I will take it into consideration when I practice it. I see you're a detail oriented guy :) Nice to know. Duplicating the notes isn't hard, but duplicating the feel is VERY hard!

  • "I see you're a detail oriented guy"

Oh no man, thanks but i like say: "a guy who likes just the things played rightly"... :)

  • An intresting cover,5*!

  • Es excelente, suena fantastico, igual que satriani,. felicidades, muy bien cover =)

  • who's the real guitarist that play that song? i wanna learn this one great song

  • Joe Satriani

  • lmfao! the annotations! hahaha, nice bro

  • great cover mate

  • i usually start b.s ing too around the same spot that you did...but not as good as you b.s-ed it

  • nice shirt, there, with the Bash command...

    : P

  • gotta love the XKCD!

  • Nice Cover. You understand the song! Plus the video clearly shows how much better the JS1000 sounds compared to the horrible JS100 (I have one).

  • Really? Hm. Must be the pickups or something.

  • the bigger problem is probably the amp he's trying to play it through... youre using Mesa Boogie stuff... doesnt get much better than that.

  • ps shirt = pwnage

  • Maybe there's a misunderstanding here. I think you have a JS1000 and the sound is great! My JS100 sounds thin and dead, which I blame on weak Pickups and tin can tremolo. Nothing wrong with Boogies here (I do prefer Vox though)

  • I do indeed has a JS-1000 (one thousand). Using the DiMarzio PAF Pro (neck) and Fred (bridge) pickups. Depending on the configuration the guitar sounds almost too bright at times, definitely brighter than my Les Paul.

  • Really nice guitar. Great clean for being a Ibanez.

  • Not one of Satch's better songs but you still did a great cover.

  • How is this not a great song? Opinions opinions...

  • vibrato ojojoj:/

  • I don't even know what you're trying to say. I wish I did since you have the word 'vibrato' in there. The :/ quasi-upset face leaves me intrigued.

  • professional sound, impossible to me

    excellent work man!

  • This deserves a swearword: That was fucking awesome. And your tone is really nice.

  • Lol. I generally don't approve of unnecessary swears in my comments, but thanks!

  • Awesome man. 5 stars

  • Couldn't think of a sweeter way of brushing off cat's hair. HAHA. Beautiful. God gives great gifts to His kids.

  • good job... i'm 14 and i've learn in two weeks ago.... it isn't hard... BUT COOL

  • And I'm 26 and still haven't come close to mastering it. You must be a master at such a young age.

  • It seems to me that it's not that hard to learn all the notes, but to imitate the way that Joe Satriani plays it, now that is hard.

  • Well said! It is *very* difficult to imitate feel. This is primarily what I try to practice when I do.

  • Thanks haha.

I think you did an amazing job, but I'm pretty sure it's impossible not to add your own feel to a song. =)

  • UNbealieveable cover man. Amazing!

  • hey man, on ur lead and rythym channels, which lights of the fx loop on the triaxis are lighting? also, on ur les paul hav u got da action on da pick ups set close to da strings? gr8 tone wud appreciate da help.

  • I only used one channel for this recording and I didn't use the FX loop at all. If you mean the external switch lights, then that doesn't matter either since I used a cabinet simulator and not the 2:90 power amp directly, since that's what those switches would control. Les Paul? The guitar in this video is the Ibanez. But yes, both of them have very low action. The pickups are just close enough to the strings so that when I press down the highest fret the string doesn't touch the pickup.

  • All that wammy torture and it still stayed in perfect tune?!

Is that guitar worth the money??

Brilliant cover by the way - beautiful tone! :D

  • dude holy freakin crap. this could very easily be the best cover of this song on youtube, u just nailed this thing and ur tone is totally incredible, how much was that amp of yours? and that legato stuff of yours all throughout was insane! and i thought i had sum shredding skills!

  • Thanks much! My TriAxis cost me around $1400 USD if I recall correctly, from eBay. I should learn more scales cuz I feel kinda limited and don't really know what I'm doing at the moment ::P It's all trial and error.

  • haha well it sounds amazing. keep up the good videos man.

  • yes dude you rock... you say. i listen lol.. im only 17 years old venezuelan guy so i or you cant expect alot of sound hardware knowing cuz i will have not XD but thanks for the big try and yes. i saw your video and no kidding there was a loooot of stuff that i dont know about them so i was like =/ cya good luck man rock on ! :D

  • no lol i had no caps i did it cuz you deserve it !!!! man.. when i connect the dam guitar to the pc (in the back mic pink output) i cant make the dam revalver thing emulate the amp its so sad :S

  • Lol thanks. Have you seen my gear walk-through video? I don't mention it but that EDIROL UA-1000 has a HI-Z input (high impedance) so you can directly plug in an instrument. I can use revalver on that input and it works beautifully. You really can't do it well with a standard PC sound card, it wasn't designed to handle that kind of signal and it also has bad latency.

  • daaaMN! DUDE YOU ROCK TOTALLY I LOVE THE SOUND I WILL LOVE TO KNOW HOW I CAN GET THAT KIND OF TONE AND EVERYTHING YOU JUST ROCK MAN KEEP IT UP!!!! THATS THE WAY TO PLAY AN ELECTRIC GUITAR

  • Either you're too kind or you had CAPS-LOCK on :P. All the gear I used is listed in the description. The rest is up to you!

  • hey man...did you use any reverb or delay on this song?

  • dude you rock!! right now this is the song that i'm working on because i'm going to play this in my guitar recital :) so I put this video in my favorites so i can watch it all the time and learn from it. thanks dude you rock!!

  • U nailed the song! Awesome. How u like breed bridge?

  • Between 1:26 and 1:50 see if you can add in the mutes. It adds a lot to the feeling of hic-ing and sobbing.

Listen to the song more closely if you don't understand what I'm talking about.

    Overall good job!

  • Great comment! I play it differently every time. That middle section is just all improv for me. I sometimes get carried away just trying to keep the guitar making noise instead of pausing for the melody! I gotta work on that.

  • This is awesome ! very good job.

and i really love that tone.

  • cool cover the tap in the beggining really looks cool hahaha

  • Lol thanks. Yeah, the tap does look cool. That's about the only reason I do it.

  • nice dude nice nice

  • thanks dude this was helpful to me learning it thanks agen and ur very good lol i might ask you for tips later on lol :D

  • Your tone is great, don't get me wrong, I love it, but even before reading the description, I could tell something was "fake" about it. You GOTTA get a cab for that thing!

  • Damn! Foiled! I do have a MESA traditional 4x12" cab but it's such a pain to set up miking and all that to try to get a good sound. I don't have proper isolation between the monitors and the cab (they're in the same room) so it's near impossible to hear the real sound coming from the mike thru the monitors. Thanks for the comment!

  • your sitting down with a strap on ?.... stand up next time.

  • *you* said strap on. don't look at me weird.

  • :) lolz. play standing up and be a man.

  • lol stfu. watch my other vids where in most I AM standing up. I was just lazy this day. It's the playing, not the standing that counts :)

  • Do you prefer the JJ tubes instead the mesa stock ones?

  • To be honest I notice very little tone difference. I had to change because the tubes in it (got from eBay) were buzzing and crackling. As far as tone, JJ high-gain tube set gives obviously more gain and a little bit more hiss noise, but sounds beautiful.

  • Hi grey stuff...do u think revalver is best out there for cab sim?

    thanks

  • ReValver MkII is a great amp sim but using it for ONLY cab sim would not be using it to its full potential and you probably wouldn't get your money's worth. If it's just cab sim you're after (you have a real preamp) then you can get away with using a good free convolver plugin and a good library of impulse files. Revalver does come with a nice library of impulse files but I've found some free ones that are just as good if not better (this is based on your taste).

  • Hi I have a marshall head..Im looking to use the amp sim on this ...as its convolution ....looks really cool..using impulse responses...Would u recommend this cab sim over say pod x3s? thanks

  • Sorry, I've never used pod x3s cab sim. Cab simulation is all about impulse responses, so if you have a good impulse file then virtually any convolver plugin will do the trick for you.

  • Okay thanks very much...thats the thing though this impulse response cab sim is new really...I mean pod x3 doesnt use it i dont think...I think a fine setup would be my marshall head with my analogue pedals in front into revalver s convolution impulse responses cab sim with delay then covolution reverb after...

  • You sir, have a talent. Keep on playin', and don't ever (!) stop sudo-in.

    sudo never stop playing

  • nice part 3:03 min ;)

  • that licked ass! that kicked ass.. one letter up makes a difference. nice playing, that harmonic at 2:45 was delicious. i came from watching your constant motion cover which was also great, how can i get that systematic chaos mixed w/o guitars?

  • LOL. Thanks a lot man. I'll PM you with download details for the Systematic Chaos mix.
