Artistic licence overplays the reality. Liston didnt kick the stool away in real life - as frustated as he probably was by Clay. I dont think the punch under the heart .54 caused Ali much trouble in the real fight either. Still most of this fight was done pretty well

The second Liston fight was of course the rematch, but this is the fight where Ali truly shocked the world, even though a lot of people picked him to win. This reenactment is very true to the real fight all the way down to Jon Voight as Howard Cossel. Also the person that says the movie was boring must not have lived the Ali story.
