  • nice rendation

  • Oh

    My

    Gosh

    !!!!!!!!

    An Angel is on screen

  • Yes I agree that he is singing this song better than Barry Manillow. What a great singer

  • Thumbs up if you are still listening to this in 2011! :)

  • I've been listening to him sing for eight years and I still get goosebumps. PERFECTION.

  • i love this song!!!!

  • Sorry. Nowhere close to Manilow on this.

  • Bo Bice was excellent. But a very different knid of singer then Clay.Sometimes the best on AI finish 2nd...

  • Sorry, on this Clay's not better than Barry.

  • No one will ever top clay when it comes to AI. And don't say Adam Lambert, Clay puts him to shame.

  • Correct! And please, Clay looks way better than Adam.... I mean, c'mon, Clay doesn't use a lot of eyeliner.

I love Clay, I love his song, and him being gay is... well, I don't really care. He's still Clay Aiken inside and out, and he still has that voice of his. For that, I'll remain a loyal fan of his.

  • Well even though they're both tenors (I guess?) I would compare them as putting Celine Dion vs Mariah Carey. Clay being Celine. Now just so you know I'm talking about the vocal ranges. lol

  • did you see his blog entry about Adam? it's a top story on Yahoo News today

  • Yes, and check out Clay's 2nd blog about AI8 / Adam as well. For people who read this: Clay did not diss Adam, he shared what he had heard from others.

For the record - I love Clay (obviously, since I posted this video) *and* I am a huge Adam fan too. They are 2 completely different talents, both unique in their own way. No comparison possible, except that they both have the "it" factor. That unexplainable musical gift and charisma that are so evident whenever they are on stage.

  • I don't believe in any sort of "it" factor: they just actually hit ALL the notes, which is extremely rare to begin with, and they have developed a whole style of body-language that makes their delivery of those lyrics engaging. And of course they are both have very clear skin and nice smiles and carefully styled wardrobes. There is no mystical extra thing about it; that combination is rare enough, and record cos. pour millions of dollars into popularizing it and sustaining it with a chosen few.

  • Obviously then, you have NEVER seen Clay Aiken perform live during one of his nine concert tours over the past six years or one of his two Spamalot runs on Broadway, since his days on AI.

This man DOES have the "IT" factor!

    He is a great performer!

You do not sell over $35,000,000 worth in concert ticket sales without having the "IT" factor.

That is better than selling albums because that means the artist is actually attracting thousands of people and filling seats at the concerts.

  • Because the music industry does not take him seriously - they think he is a passing fad. Trust me on this one - from a John Denver fan - and he seldom got air play even when his songs were #1 on the HOT 100 List - AND he sold over 100,000,000 albums!!!! (Only Elvis, Sinatra, Denver and Michael Jackson have over 100 million in sales!!)

  • if i can give you a double thumbs up i would have. haha.

    kyaa! Clay Aiken!

  • beautiful, just beautiful

  • Dont care he's gay. I dont believe career is over, he still has the best male chops on the radio.

  • Damn, I miss him. Hurry back Clay, we need a tour.

  • he needs to come bk to toronto pronto.

  • He is awesome and should have won American Idol instead of Ruben but it didn't have to take Clay to win American Idol to win America's hearts. He has such an amazing voice.

  • Clay Aiken is sooo beautiiful <333

  • OMG, is he crying???

  • I never understood the Barry/Clay comparisons until

    I watched this video.

  • His voice is so incredible.

  • Wouldn't Clay singing this to you and smiling at you just be a great feeling.

  • There are a few vids of him doing this song...this one is the best...he's getting the bittersweetness of the lost love.

  • he still gives me goose bumps.... marry me, clay????

  • Barry Manilow is my favorite and I would love to see Barry Play the piano and him and Clay do a duet on several songs. Their voice quality is so similar. Almost like father and son. :-)

  • i hear 3 versions of this song and i think that barry manilow's the best, clay's after and westlife's the last

  • Clay is good period but sadly Barry's better :(

  • I always said Clay will follow after Barry - Clay God willing will be around for a L O N G time! Good job on video

  • He's such an amazing performer. Why don't his albums sound like this?

  • Clay sure is an amazing performer. But I can't agree with what you imply about his albums - I think they sound great too. :-) Have you heard his latest one: On My Way Here? Pure delight.

  • i never seen this video b4. but guest wat this video is really amazing, nice voice and nice song. great Mr. Clay! luv it;)

  • amazing <3

  • Gosh, if he only knew how many of us truly adore him.

  • Honey, I think he knows!

  • lol, it is better than the original. easily.

  • most certainly

  • Clay is this generation Barry Manilow.

  • Love Clay, Love Barry, but u r so right!!! I'm Still a Claymate 4eva and not just an 80s girl. Glad to know that there are more Claymates still out there!!!!

  • I love this version of Clay... so handsome!!!! I wish I could just hug him..:))

  • *^^*

    So~~ Cute

  • OMG!!! That was amazing!!!! I've never seen him get this emotional except when he sang TITN in Raleigh!!!! Amazing!!!!!

  • do you have a link to that vid?

i've been trying to find it but can't seem to...

  • Clay's crying :( At about :53 you can vaguely make out a tear, and towards the end it becomes really obvious that he's crying. I wonder why this song makes him sad?

  • Doesn't he have a good friend Amanda? Maybe that's why.

  • why dont you check out another version of mandy by an Idol contestant?

clickt to mySpace and search for Benny Martell - awesome!

  • Clay always manages to make the songs better than the originals. What an incredible voice.

  • Breathes new life into a classic. Much needed life, I might add.

And it's really the other way around. No one can step to Clay.

  • I agree with you, Pacifique! He DOES do it better than Barry Mannilow. I love this song and the way Clay sings it!

  • I heard that song was about Barry's dog.

  • I have to admit that this verson of the song just seemed to drag. Go and see Barry sing this live and you will see that there is no comparison!

  • Chill out maryj71 I am a huge Barry fan too and while no one can ever take Barry's place this was exceptional in it's own way.

  • clay does it better :)

  • Hell No!!!

There is only one Barry Manilow and Clay Aiken for sure is no comparison. He can't even begin to step to Barry!! Don't try to copy the originator!!

The legendary singer will never be immitated!!

  • I would like t tell you that berry thinks that clay will be like him. he said it on one of his dvds. I can tell you that berry is happy that Clay did this....

  • maryi71, Agree only one Barry, and so it should be, but there is also only one Clay. Clay is an awesome singer, and this is "live". Barry has admitted on Ophrah that Clay is a much better singer than him. Clay is a legend in the making. No need to bring previous legends down, but Clay is in a league of his own.

  • I loved it! Clay did GREAT! He always does! :)

  • Great song...I sang this at my high school talent show last year. I love this song and Clay is just simply the best. Good video too!
