Fucking hell, first half of the video is useless timewasting while he opens the goddamn gay box. Could have edited your shitty video better, who needs to see you unpacking it??
piseed cause the matte screen doesnt come with black border. Now the silver frame will reflect in the dark. Wtf were they thinking. Let it be a customizeable choice
is there a lot of grain caused by the anti glare coating like you have on the Dell ips screens? Or is it really greatte matte like the good old macbook pro?
ordered the same exact laptop last night refurbed...17", 2.8Ghz, Antiglare..and i can't freakin wait, i checked it out at the apple store and i've never seen a better display on a matte screen, it's insane.. and before anyone asks..yes, i'm aware the new ones come out any day now. i also know the 17" will be more than i wanna spend on a laptop...hell, the refurb was still more than i wanted to spend...one more thing, i have 14 days to take it back!
don't worry the new macbooks pro wont be coming out till september now because they brought out the ipad instead on a macbook pro you safe don't worry
2 inches can make a big difference. Go from a 18" to a 20" computer monitor and you'll notice the difference. it's the same with a 15" laptop to a 17" laptop. it's definitely very noticeable.
I have the glossy and it is annoying in light, but otherwise the picture is amazing and crisp. I also have a iVisor over it which effectively makes it antiglare at a small cost of quality.
One thing for sure, great switch from the 15 to the 17 inch. That's a huge machine and lighter than my old 15 inch Dell Inspiron, lol. I'm looking forward for the 15 inch Unibody Macbook Pro, just waiting for the next upgrade. Enjoy your machine to the fullest :)
you made the right choice w/ the matte screen...i compared it endlessly w/ the glossy at the store and the difference in color wasn't enough to make me want to put up with the mirror-like screen of the glossy. the extra layer of glass over it really killed it for me
you're just saying that b/c you're stuck w/ the glossy. i've done a lot w/ both and matte is the only way to go. if you want reflections, just get a mirror. the colors are not better to the point that it merits putting up w/ the reflections....that extra layer of glass is what fcompletely kills the glossy. video and photography editors/designers use the matte. i dont think the they would if the color was so much worse than the glossy. fyi
im not stuck with the glossy version..i chose to pick this computer because it looks better than the matte. to me, it doesnt really matter if the colors in both versions are slightly different. I would have felt like i lost $1800 if i would have bought the matte version. i have been drawing and designing on this computer and the picture looks great, definetely better than what i could have gotten out of matte.
r u stupid...he is stuck with an old version of the macbook pro..i had my choice of matte and glossy(there the same computer)..i chose glossy, stupid bitch..get your information straight before u talk shit.
@DavieeShoTzz Nope. There is already an anti glare screen on the Mac, but they layer it with a glossy screen, so therefore, you're paying 135$ to get the glossy screen off to get the anti glare.
@TheLuckAndLove - wat do these things do? will they stop me getting these terrible headaches and eyestrains and blurry vision whenever i use my computer??
im gonna get the 15inch next year for school hahaha but the glare doesnt affect me cause im using it for work and music only. although when i get into filmmaking it may affect things a little.
The glossy screen is almost a useless gimmick to appeal to unknowing consumers. It exaggerates colors and heavily cripples color accuracy, which are totally unfit for any PROfessional work like photography or video editing. If your pictures look better on a distorted color space, then the pictures could probably have been improved (at least to your liking).
Glossy screens on laptops have also been demonstrated to cause back problems because of sitting in certain positions to avoid glare.
It isn't MY opinion that glossy screens create an obstacle for people who do work that necessitates accurate colors. It also isn't MY opinion that glossy screens are linked to back aches.
You are entitled to your opinion no matter how stupid it is. But what is your opinion? That those facts are made up, and glossy is "better"? And comparing an essay to a comment that's less than 500 characters. Idiot.
See how people rated you down? You're the one who needs to go fuck yourself.
very interesting fact... I had the glossy 17" macbook pro I got it for Christmas this year but just yesterday I noticed that I only have 3 hours worth of battery. So I called up apple and told the my misfortunate, they said "we completely understand you situation so we are going to replace you macbook pro" Being that I did not have it for long and they all so said I could change 2 thing on the macbook pro so I added a 128GB SSD and changed the glossy screen to a AG....
I like both but i prefer gloss, the screen is very crisp and much thinner then the matte, i saw the matted 17 inch yesterday and the screen was much thicker then the glossy one
I love the matte, you should've seen the screen I used before, this one is like heaven compared to it xD so I can't complain plus this was like 100% free. If you have glossy, there is so much glare when you go outside /; I don't like glare...
It really isn't much bigger or heavier than the 15" uMBP. The 17" still has the expresscard slot and can come in matte. Plus the battery is 8 hours vs 7 hours (in the newest 15" uMBP).
agreed. i think people feel for apple's matte screen trick to purchase the more expensive model. 1 hour of battery life doesn't justify the size ... i mean think about taking that on an airplane. o_O unless you edit or require it i don't see a point in a 17 inch either
if you're a graphic designer you either need the 17inch, the imac or a mac pro. if you want to be able to design web sites while attending happy hour and soaking up the sun, you need the 17 inch. it's much easier to throw in your backpack than a desktop.
I don't really like the 17" MacBook Pros...I think the speakers and how everything looks too spaced out sorta makes it ugly...
