  • Rathe is Moriarty...

  • I never understood why there wasn't a sequel.

  • LOL we most certainly will be seeing you again Mr Holmes

  • thank-you so much! this was basically a walk down memory lane for me. id seen this film a few times when i was younger and tonight when i watched it, it took me back quite a few years. Anyways thanka for the upload and i wish you the best!

  • @sullenhorizon1692 your welcome

  • Thank you for uploading!!!

  • thanks for the upload , its been a long time since ive seen it .

  • sherlock holmes for skate boarders, video gamers and the mentally challenged

  • Great film!!! Tahnk you for uploading havnt seen it since it originally debut

  • good movie thx:)

  • Thank You for a wonderful film.

  • This is an amazing movie. I remember watching it as a kid and at the end thinking, "God, tell me why the bear is white, tell me why the bear is white."

I was 11 at the time I saw this on TV. Still had ways to go in being a detective

  • I know that it didn't get very good reviews, but I loved this film when it came out and I still think it's terrific. The only bad thing is that they clearly left it open at the end for a sequel and never did one!

  • @el7jake I think the filmaker's wanted you to read the books as the sequels. Even though they don't really reference this particular adventure for the obvious reasons.

  • wow I am watching this movie again after 10 years, and it's the first time I see this last scene!!! never end the movie at the credits again!

  • People need to watch after the credits; there's an important plot twist!

  • @WarblerDalton "Important twist," hell! It's my favorite part of the movie!

  • Is there anything more engaging in a story than narration?...What a wonderful film.

  • That superb ending, the last moment after the credits run, when you realize Ehtar is alive--and WHO he has become--absolutely brrilliant, old fellow!

  • @MStrat1106 that's why you always make sure that your enemies are DEAD. lol

  • @ProjectDeadPictures he didn't it was only a turn of his feelings towards women as he promised not to feel in love again in the sake if his first love....but as prove of him not being homo is in the story the copper beeches where he met a young lady and had feelings for her but at the end he changed those feelings and the most familliar female whom holmes truely admire and that is his and our beloved irene adler..whm he calls as "the woman"...

  • Thank you very much for uploading!

I do like the way Spielberg copied Doyle's style - a wonderful homage.

  • @rezitatorin welcome glad you liked it

  • *tacklehugz* Thank you sooooo much for uploading this movie!!! xD

  • @changingowl10 your welcome

  • thank-you for sharing I thoroughly enjoyed watching it!

  • Cheers for uploading. This is the film where I first noticed !LOVELY! Anthony Higgins. Followed closely by '1994 Baker Street, Sherlock Holmes returns'.

  • @SarahMilton64 your welcome , and for a moment i thought you said anthony hopkins, lol. my brain is asleep today.

  • isn't Elizabeth Jane Eyre now?

  • Never saw the very end of the movie, and having him sign his name at the end is brilliant. A great alternative storyline for Holmes.

  • @NJburbsSeeker wasnt that the teacher. the teacher had the long cut on his cheek and sherlock only had a small cut

  • whose coat was that? the one holmes wore at the end

  • @idKim00 I was thinking it was Rathe's ...just an intuition though ...young Sherlock referred to it as revenge so maybe it is a little foreshadowing ...just a thought :-])

  • @gaiagale oh ok thanks :) that makes sense

  • I loved this movie at the age of 10, but didn't get its name nor any other information... Now, 15 years later, I finally found it and it still kicks a**!

:) Thanks a lot for uploading!

  • @Modgudur glad you enjoyed

  • It's a sad unfairness in life sometimes that some people get ahead, "on the backs of others." But most brilliant people win out in the end.

  • Too bad they can't have a crossover between Sherlock Holmes and Indiana Jones. Their time periods are distanced.

  • cool ending, rathe signing in as MORIARTY! duh duh duh!

  • Never will you find a movie as good from the time, I think Sherlock's starting to grow on me :)

  • i loved the scene when holmes had to find the trophy and i loved the movie!!

  • There is something kinda cruel with this movie :

Sherlock Holmes says at the beginning the only thing he wishes for is not to be alone and Elisabeth's worst nightmare is to be buried after her death...Well the films ends up with her dying and living sherlock alone forever !!!!!

WTFFFFFFFF ??? Why couldn't it be some HOOOOOOOPE !!! lol

  • @1480mathias Actually Elizabeth's nightmare was dying young, in fact dying at all. By the end, she's brave enough to face death and knows that when Sherlock dies she will see him again. All their hallucinations had a profound effect on them. Sherlock was forced to confront his past, how he came to solve mysteries when he uncovered his father's affair behind his mother's back. And Watson, well Watson probably won't look at a pastry in the same way again.

  • @Kaagh178 right, right... You do realize that I know all of this since I SAW THE DARN MOVIE ALREADY !!!

  • @1480mathias Alright, alright. I gathered that. I was just explaining. No need to get snippy.

  • @Kaagh178 And no need to explain anything... ;)

  • @1480mathias Touche, friend. Touche.

  • great acting thru-out; one rarely sees any movie or tv show like that anymore.

  • One can easily put 3 strikes against the Indiana Jones saga. If it wasn't for Spielberg's name, the IJ saga would be a total fake/fraud. Great ending in this too...namely, Moriarty. ;)

  • everyone watch until the very end of the movie after the credit the Ahtar survives and signs the hotel guest book as Moriarty, which was Sherlocks mortal enemy in the novels. Great ending

  • that solved the mystery of who is Moriarty... :)

  • Thank you for uploading this. It's been ages since I've seen it on TV. It remains one of my favorite fantasy films from the 80s.

  • @QueenBoadicea your welcome

  • iLL miss this movie

  • Iloved this film! Thank you for bringing it back!

  • Great movie and ty for the upload! Although after watching it again... this is basically a retelling of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom haha which is probably based off something as well maybe even back to Holmes. But, musical score, scene wise... this is a knock off Indiana.

  • Well Steven Speilburg did this movie too so that's probably why it seems a lot like Indiana Jones.

  • @blabbyblah1 I think this came first, it's definitely an experimentation of ways of film-making for them (this was the film that introduced us to PIXAR, after all)

  • Thank you so much for the upload!

  • your welcome

  • @MikadoOkami I've seen your reply several times and thought I'd let you know that it is 'you're welcome' I hope you understand that I meant to be helpful ...spelling is of little consquence here on YT but elsewhere it might make a difference

    respect

  • so the handsome fencing man is my favorite villian? Moriarty *snif* can live be any better

    he's baaaaack!

    thank you so much!

  • your welcome

and you realy have a thing for rathe

  • @MikadoOkami :p yeah I have something for the villians ^^

  • well watch out for people like him he might turn you into a wax mummy lol : )

  • @MikadoOkami with my charm ? nah :p he will be completely smitten :p:p

  • @kneedgom That was a good twist. Not to mention we now know that Holmes avenges Elizabeth when he kills Moriarty in 'The Final Problem'.

  • You're right! I imagine the famous scene, with Holmes and Moriarty in a mortal combat, on top of the Reichenbach Falls (after he unmasked his enemy as the Professor Rathe). At last, our hero takes a noble resolution... the only form to free the world of that evil monster: dying with him. Remembering his death girlfriend (murdered by his old teacher), Holmes embraces Moriaty and says: "For Elizabeth!"... and the two men fall to the abyss.

  • Thanks for uploading this! Its a fun movie to see again.

  • im glad they wrote what they did before the credits =)

  • wouldn't it have been funny if there was a little Mary that little Watson fell in love with?

  • @sokwest How cute! (laughing) ;D

  • @sokwest Actually that might have been really funny...... if they had done it.

  • great movie better than i thout. its cool looking at the new sherlock holmes and comparing it

  • thnks man, it passed the time for me.

  • you welcome

  • One of my favorite movies! I cannot believe this! I've never seen that ending! The copy I watched about 20 times cut out when the credits began. Having Rathe revealed to be "Moriarty" is so deep! Shocking even! Wow! I wish they had made a sequel then. Thanks for uploading!

  • your welcome

  • who is the guy at the end?

  • rathe

    he survived

  • @alex65213 it's Professor James Moriarty - the biggest enemy of the older Sherlock Holmes and also the biggest criminal in England. He's as smart as Holmes, but the only different is that he's evil.

  • same people different personalities and different sides of the road....sucks but eh it happens lol...wait...no it doesnt...

  • So glad I finally found this again! Thanks

  • your welcome

    C.just stfu you lil advertiser

  • aww its a shame wen elizabeth died, she shudnt av died

  • yea well at least holmes kicked rathes a**

  • yes and im a new sherlock holmes fan so i may have this fact WRONG but i do beilive elizabeth is the only woman holmes ever really loved and he sort of refuses to let himself after her

  • @demon2thousand Elizabeth was created for the purpose of this movie to explain why Sherlock Holmes was like the way he is, with women, evidently, the only woman Holmes comes close to loving is Irene Adler.

  • Be sure to watch those end credits to the very end!

  • heeee's baaaaaack o_o

    lol
