thank-you so much! this was basically a walk down memory lane for me. id seen this film a few times when i was younger and tonight when i watched it, it took me back quite a few years. Anyways thanka for the upload and i wish you the best!
This is an amazing movie. I remember watching it as a kid and at the end thinking, "God, tell me why the bear is white, tell me why the bear is white."
I was 11 at the time I saw this on TV. Still had ways to go in being a detective
I know that it didn't get very good reviews, but I loved this film when it came out and I still think it's terrific. The only bad thing is that they clearly left it open at the end for a sequel and never did one!
@el7jake I think the filmaker's wanted you to read the books as the sequels. Even though they don't really reference this particular adventure for the obvious reasons.
@ProjectDeadPictures he didn't it was only a turn of his feelings towards women as he promised not to feel in love again in the sake if his first love....but as prove of him not being homo is in the story the copper beeches where he met a young lady and had feelings for her but at the end he changed those feelings and the most familliar female whom holmes truely admire and that is his and our beloved irene adler..whm he calls as "the woman"...
Cheers for uploading. This is the film where I first noticed !LOVELY! Anthony Higgins. Followed closely by '1994 Baker Street, Sherlock Holmes returns'.
@idKim00 I was thinking it was Rathe's ...just an intuition though ...young Sherlock referred to it as revenge so maybe it is a little foreshadowing ...just a thought :-])
I loved this movie at the age of 10, but didn't get its name nor any other information... Now, 15 years later, I finally found it and it still kicks a**!
Sherlock Holmes says at the beginning the only thing he wishes for is not to be alone and Elisabeth's worst nightmare is to be buried after her death...Well the films ends up with her dying and living sherlock alone forever !!!!!
WTFFFFFFFF ??? Why couldn't it be some HOOOOOOOPE !!! lol
@1480mathias Actually Elizabeth's nightmare was dying young, in fact dying at all. By the end, she's brave enough to face death and knows that when Sherlock dies she will see him again. All their hallucinations had a profound effect on them. Sherlock was forced to confront his past, how he came to solve mysteries when he uncovered his father's affair behind his mother's back. And Watson, well Watson probably won't look at a pastry in the same way again.
One can easily put 3 strikes against the Indiana Jones saga. If it wasn't for Spielberg's name, the IJ saga would be a total fake/fraud. Great ending in this too...namely, Moriarty. ;)
everyone watch until the very end of the movie after the credit the Ahtar survives and signs the hotel guest book as Moriarty, which was Sherlocks mortal enemy in the novels. Great ending
Great movie and ty for the upload! Although after watching it again... this is basically a retelling of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom haha which is probably based off something as well maybe even back to Holmes. But, musical score, scene wise... this is a knock off Indiana.
@blabbyblah1 I think this came first, it's definitely an experimentation of ways of film-making for them (this was the film that introduced us to PIXAR, after all)
@MikadoOkami I've seen your reply several times and thought I'd let you know that it is 'you're welcome' I hope you understand that I meant to be helpful ...spelling is of little consquence here on YT but elsewhere it might make a difference
You're right! I imagine the famous scene, with Holmes and Moriarty in a mortal combat, on top of the Reichenbach Falls (after he unmasked his enemy as the Professor Rathe). At last, our hero takes a noble resolution... the only form to free the world of that evil monster: dying with him. Remembering his death girlfriend (murdered by his old teacher), Holmes embraces Moriaty and says: "For Elizabeth!"... and the two men fall to the abyss.
One of my favorite movies! I cannot believe this! I've never seen that ending! The copy I watched about 20 times cut out when the credits began. Having Rathe revealed to be "Moriarty" is so deep! Shocking even! Wow! I wish they had made a sequel then. Thanks for uploading!
@alex65213 it's Professor James Moriarty - the biggest enemy of the older Sherlock Holmes and also the biggest criminal in England. He's as smart as Holmes, but the only different is that he's evil.
hey thanks for uploading this movie i didn't know the tittle of this movie till i looked up the new one ... I hadn't seen this movie scence i was like maybe 10 or 11 so thanks again one of the best adventure movies ever ........
Thank you so much for posting the entire movie. I had forgotten all about it until the new Sherlock Holmes movie was released. I loved this movie when it came out when I was a kid. Thank you again it brought back some great memories I am going to add this to my DVD collection!
yes and im a new sherlock holmes fan so i may have this fact WRONG but i do beilive elizabeth is the only woman holmes ever really loved and he sort of refuses to let himself after her
@demon2thousand Elizabeth was created for the purpose of this movie to explain why Sherlock Holmes was like the way he is, with women, evidently, the only woman Holmes comes close to loving is Irene Adler.
From Basil Rathbone, to Jeremy Brett and now the the latest with Robert Downey, Jr., I am a long time fan and can't believe I don't own this yet. A truly great adaptation. Thank you so much and MERRY CHRISTMAS "my dear fellow."

It's a sad unfairness in life sometimes that some people get ahead, "on the backs of others." But most brilliant people win out in the end.

Too bad they can't have a crossover between Sherlock Holmes and Indiana Jones. Their time periods are distanced.
