Reminds me of my father, who was also a rather large man. We never got along very well, but after he became ill and i took care of him he really softened up. And then he died. Its strange how knowledge of your impending doom can change relationships. We were as different as night and day, but he took care of me at the beginning of my life and i took care of him at the end of his.
I was so mad at my mother today, but after seeing Garak deal with Inabran I decided to forgive my mother because she has never taken me through the things that Inabran did to Garak.
I love that Garak allowed Bashir in the room. I remember hearing at one point (I don't remember if is was in the show or a book) where it was mentioned that it was frowned upon for outsiders to view a dead Cardassian's body. Shows how strongly Garak felt about his and Bashir's friendship.
I really loved these scenes. Garak was such a wonderfully complex character. And it really speaks to the depth of the friendship/bond he formed with Bashir that he would allow the doctor to be there for what was an intensely private moment and let the man know such a profound, secret truth about himself, especially when he was always lying. Beautifully done.
Enabran Tain's death is an example of how a great, powerful man can die in miserable agony with nobody to watch but a person they've never valued as much as they should have.
A friend of mine just had his dad pass away, his dad and him never got along but he took care of his dad at the end when his other brothers had all taken off.
Mila and Garak told Damar and Kira in the 2nd-to-last episode of the series, "The Dogs of War", that Tain was Garak's father. Mila was the only person Garak felt he could trust, so they hid out at their house.
:'(
Poor Garak
One of the best DS9 characters.

What would Maury say?
MAURY: "Tain... you are the father!"
Nevertheless, this is kust one of numerous examples of the wonderfully acted scenes that permeate STG, DS9, and STV.

They really are. Bashir seems to be the person who knows Garak best, and they work so well together.

Question: Does anyone besides Bashir ever find out that Tain is Garak's father?
MurasakiYugata 2 years ago 2
Yes. Garak tells Damar about Tain being his father during the Battle of Cardassia in the show finale.

@blossommorphine Actually I believe Mila tells Damar & Kira that Tain was Garak's father, after Garak mentions he grew up in Tain's home.

@blossommorphine Technically, Garak didn't tell Dahmar Tain was Garak's Father, Meelia, the house maid did.

According to "A Stitch In Time" by Andrew Robinson, who played Garak, this was the case. Mila was Garak's mother.
blossommorphine 2 years ago 2
that makes her death at the end even more sad

Poor Garak....

This is why Garak let so few people in.... it is huge at 1:36 where he says he is alone too, it shows how deep he trusts Bashir and lets him in too.
