I never realized how violent food was. I've had enough of people talking about violent video games and TV shows. The real culprit here is violence in household food products.
You can't get better than BEans & Cornbread! When I heard it while watching MAlcolm X for the first time I thought I gotta find that song. Low and behold someone let me borrow the soundtrack...I taped it on a cassette...stop laughing...and now can't find the CASSETTE...Than God for Youtube!
Actually what are you talking about. There were still Jim Crowe laws at that time!(unless you were famous enough). The song addresses two races that are fighting for no reason and should be getting along. What are you saying louis Jordan wrote a song for the fun of it. no meaning? Care to explain the song then?
maybe I am, because I studied some of this stuff in university. Is "ain't nobody here but us chickens" about anything else besides chicken trying to get the farmer to be quiet? Or is it two thieves trying to trick the farmer, that's its only chickens. So don't come down! Check out bamboozled by spike lee and his(the right)interpretation. The songs are fun, I'm just saying they're a little deeper than what you would think.

beans=mexicans, cornbread=blacks. this song hits so many things on the head.(no pun intended) but we all should get along like peanutbutter&jam, sour crout&hot dogs.........
take the fun aspect out and this is a serious song!
One thing, the song says "beans said cornbread, let me go." Why would beans have to say "let me go."? It was cornbread that was grabbed. I have noticed this long ago as I jammed to this song on my mp3 player.

I've posted the lyrics in the video info to make it more clear. Note, that line is actually:
"Beans," said Conbread, "let me go."
