  • You were playing it in the wrong key, you should put a capo at 7th fret for the right sound.

  • cool guitar..

  • Nice video, thanks for posting

  • I would love to visit the Martin factory just for the smell...bought a brandnew D-41 in 2004, still can smell that "new guitar smell" whenever I open the case. Even my old D-18 from 1972 ( bought 2nd hand in 1979 in Monterey ) still tickles my nose with it's odor of wood, glue, lacquer and unknown pickers...

  • beautiful!

  • Great job, I love this song. Thanks for posting.

  • yehaaaaaaaaa

  • they make these guitars in my town in pa

  • @DeerCountry2012 - I envy you - I'd love to tour the Martin factory

    -john

  • @sosauto I lived about a mile away and had/have 3 relatives who work there. I toured several times and it's amazing! (...as is the sound of the guitars!!!)

  • @DeerCountry2012 Yeah, I would love too tour The Martin Factory too that would be so kool since I have my dad's ole OM-18 Martin it needs some work but I've been told too leave it alone cause it will take the value away from it if I would have anyone touch it many people have offered but I've turned them down:)

  • Very pretty - Gwen

  • Brilliant!

  • i have a '59 0-18, reminiscent of this! love that bright sound!

  • lovely!

  • Beautiful job! You are one heck of a fingerpicker. I sure like to be young again like I was when the song came out --was it '69 or '70?

The downside is I was in the Army then!! (<:

  • Nice playing, nice song, nice guitar! You know what they say about wine: the older the better. (I am over 60 too)

  • Pssssssssssssssssssssssstcheck out

    youtube/DDRoyal

  • There's just something about a Martin...

  • I played one of these yesterday. She was absolutely lovely, so I thought I'd google videos. Your fingerpicking is dead on and you clearly play her often -- I can tell by the tone.

  • good job old man its amazing to play guitarr with theese big fingers xD but its very nice^^

  • Hi -you are cool man --greeting from Germany--watch my videos--winni

  • What year is that lovely martin?

  • 1967 00-18

  • Lovely indeed! Awesome. 5 stars

  • @ImOnTheTube wow! Nice guitar I have a DC16 and a Rosewood but they are 2008 models,I wonder if they made the 60`s models differently or not?

  • Fantastic..5 ***** yet again

  • that was the bomb whats that song called? i remember it but not the name.

  • I think its Hear Comes the Sun

  • Sounds like Here Comes the Sun by The Beatles

  • Wow, it looks to be in very good condition and sounds great!

  • Great Pick'n Love the Martin!

  • who's the hottie at the end?

  • I want your guitar...

  • pretty dern cool

  • Once again, nice work

  • Beautiful sound. Here Comes the Sun.

  • vary nice sound and song and guitar and pickin.

  • They do sound immeadiate as in a crisp Autumn day. The larger bodied ones have a delayed impact. Seem to hang around for hours for a 41 to hit you, but that's not a bad thing either....they're all gorgeous and have that trademark tinkling glass on the upper registers and that harpsichordery grind on the lower ones...if you know what I mean. I'm sure you do. These are Martins!

  • Your eloquence is matched only by the sound of a vintage Martin guitar.

    -john

  • Wonderful!

  • can he play elvis

  • I have an old 0-18 that never leaves my lap. For small guitars these 18s are some of the finest sounding and playing guitars out there

  • Wow, you just took me on a 35 year trip back to my childhood when my dad played this for me on his Martin 00-18. Thanks for resurrecting a nice memory.

  • sir you are very good i play but no where near as crisp and clear as that very beautiful sound

  • I was fortunate a few years back to acquire a '59 00-18. It is a remarkable instrument. Wonderful full bass tones and sweet high tones, balanced throughout, and loud to boot. It's perfection for finger picking and fun for rockabilly too. Martin is releasing a Tim O'Brien signature model soon. Some of you may know of a band called "Railroad Earth", the 00-18 is Todd's axe plugged into a Mesa Boogie amp.

Nice playing, sir! Try out a set of Martin SP 80/20 medium lights for even better tone.

  • Did Elvis play on a 0018 Martin????

  • yea when he first started out, in around the early 50's he used a 1936 000-18 that he paid 80 bucks for. then in late 1954 he traded it for a 1942 D-18 at a music store in memphis. he used it until about june of 55 and then bought a 1954 D-28, which is the guitar martin has recently mass produced at a limited quantity

  • great!

  • Im a Taylor man but i do want one of the small bodied Martins!Great playing by the way!Peace!

  • a 000 martin would be a better play than any taylor you have ever played..trust me

  • Actually the only guitar i`ve played that i would say sounded "better" than my year 200 314ce was an Eric Clapton model ooo Martin! But that was after trying a lot of other Martins<Gibsons.Guilds etc!!I payed £1059 for my Taylor but the Martin was £2700!Pounds not Dollars!

  • I really love it my friend!!!!

    So greattttt

    Thanks for sharing

    Chris

  • very beautiful.

  • Nice playing, and a fine sound indeed produced by that guitar of yours. You are successfully overcoming the handicap of not playing a Gibson, and for that I commend you. ;)

  • Great song nice playing!!

  • Great guitar,good playing!

    Keep postin'!

  • If god created a guitar, the MARTIN would be the guitar of choice.

    -john

  • good beatles old guy

  • Very very nice!how long have you been playing and are you the original owner of your Martin guitar? Thanks again!

  • excellent many thanks

  • The song is "Here comes the sun" by the Beatles! He plays it without the capo on the 7th fret. Great job, different key. Well done.

  • Great job. What is the name of that song? It reminds me of Little Jeannie.

  • I love the suspenders!!

  • that is so cool

  • that's beautiful

  • nice mellow sound..that`s a keeper indeed...great picking as always too

  • wonderfully done, brillant.

  • Great job, but you're missing one chord on the chorus,..after the G hit an E chord on the word "Sun",...just before the words "I said".

  • True!!! He should really put that E7 in!!! But beside that, yeah, nice playing.

  • here comes the sun!<3

  • Good pickin' John old boy. SWEET sounding guitar. That old Martin is really a treasure!

  • and to think that I was salivating over an OM18 just this afternoon.

  • wow very clean goodjob

  • So im lookin at a D-15 Custom.. What do you think?

  • Man I would love to have a Martin... Can anybody tell me if a 900 dollar Martin is going to be good? If I am going to buy one I want to buy a nice clean sounding one... I dont just want a cheap one.

  • This one cost me $450 (used) back in the 70's plus about $600 in repairs along the way. All in all a very worthwhile investment.

    -john

  • Thanks for some nice music ..... My 00-18 is no longer metal strung ..... (getting too old and tender!) but it works well with nylon as well.

Wish I palyed as well as you Martin 160229 - 00-18

  • I like that littel 00-18. How old is it? You've inspired me to track down one myself. My D-28 is getting too big for me. Much thanks for your great videos. Terry Morgan in Western New York State

  • 1967. One of the last made before Martin changed the bridge plate design - which many think negatively affected the tone on subsequent models.

    -john

  • still d'best. rw

  • i really enjoyed hearing you and your martin! im a martin picker myself.

  • man seeing your love of martins kinda makes me regret buying my taylor recently. in my price range i tried out a whole bunch of martin's and taylor's, trying to find the right one. i guess i don't regret it, because i found "the one" for me, which i currently use. i guess i want a martin too! i need more money!!!

  • That guitar just sounds amazing, now capo it on the seventh fret and see how real it sounds...gawd I wish I had a Martin

  • awesome song from the beatles!

  • Very tasteful playing!

  • wow thats ''here comes the sun'' aint it?

  • What is it about the 0018 that makes it so desireable?

  • >What is it about the 0018 that makes it so desireable?<

For me its the way the treble strings ring out. Never heard any other guitar that sounds quite like a 00-18 (pre-1967 00-18 that is...)

  • Thanks for making a bad week turn into a good one..After hearing you play ..Makes any day Bright

  • have u ever listened to the classical/Romantic works of Andres Segovia??

  • more vids, where have you been?

  • Question? How much did you pay for that guitar, if you don't mind?

  • Bought for $475 in the late '70's - $600 worth of work at a Martin shop fixing neck angle and a few other things, so I have about $1,075 in it. No, I don't want to sell it :)
