But Kate has a wonderful white witch style that accesses all delightfully dark areas, and theatrical ones. Beverly is more straightforward. @Quixpeed A mixture of writer's block and the need to take care of her three young daughters kept her away from the public eye. In 2004 she made a slow comeback, doing a handful of live appearances, but was than diagnosed with breast cancer. Thankfully after treatment, she was given the all clear. Although not as successful as her past work, she has released albums in 2005 and 2009.

first heard Beverley on Nicky Campbell Radio 1. That was 1990. It took several re-releases before eventually her music penetrated public consciousness. About a year after first hearing, she got a hit. Fond memories of playing the album while I got ready to go out a training run up the Trossachs or Carron Valley in Scotland on my bike, pleasant summer days. I now find myself comparing this to my favourite artist for the past decade, Laura Nyro. whom I wasnt familiar with back in the early 90s.

Actually the B-Side to the original release of "Promise Me" in 1990 was "I Listen To The Rain". The former went largely unnoticed by the record buying public - excluding myself ! It was re-released in 1991 when it reached No.3 (or 4!) and the follow-up single was "Holding On". It's very surprising her career was so short-lived. She wrote excellent songs and had a beautifully pure voice. I wonder what she's at now ?
