Can't stop rewinding to the beginning. This beautiful composition just jumps at you from nowhere and pulls you right in. No intro - they just get right into it.
Had the pleasure to witness them on their tor of England 77 {not 100per cent shure here } tour, Joe sample did solo first spot of his Rainbow Seeker album .Got to say one of the finest bands ive ever seen.
Yes, this IS great stuff! And it may very well be all of these guys at their best. (and I love sh*t outta "Street Life") Sample, "Stix" Hooper, Wayne Henderson, Larry Carlton & Wilton Felder found THE groove on this one and worked it for all it was worth! Mos' props, guys.
Fond memories of sitting in the barracks at McClellan A.F.B, Sacramento, CA in a brother named George room grooving to the latest sipping on spanada wine ... and grooving to the latest sounds of jazz.
i can relate glenn1340, i had an akai open reel ,still listen to all the great sounds snatched from the fm airwaves before the corporate priveteers ruined radio
Stix is the man! I remember seeing The Crusaders at Birmingham (UK) in about '77 and the man did a drum solo like no other. I've seen many drum solos in my time, and it's a difficult art to perfect, making the whole thing hang together without being self-indulgent and so losing the audience's attention, but Stix made the whole thing hypnotic. I couldn't tell you how long it was - 5, 10 or 15 minutes - I just remember being spellbound. A master of the skins indeed.
these guys are HYPNOTIC if scientist studied their sound they could probably use it to cure cancer or something , at least cure depression . really great music it always make me feel better . thanks
I imagine listening to this late at night on one of those huge reel to reel tape recorders maybe a Teak or Akai. It would play track after track jazz funk for two hours or more without needing to change tapes and I`d be mesmerised by the reels slowly turning as I got lost in the ethereal sounds.
This 70's funk/jazz track by The Crusaders is one of the finest of the decade, and arguably in music history, after all of these decades, this still holds its own with any funk/jazz done since, this is certainly a timeless piece of music...
This is one of my favorite groups and Chain Reaction was and will always be one of my favorite LPs. Thats right. LP. Sometimes you loose something in the transalation to CD.

@wolvesmike2 I saw them at the Hammersmith Odeon in '77; Hooper's solo was perfection.
