Because of socioeconomic similarities in mid fifties Indian movies were very popular in Greece . One out thirty odd Cinemas always played an Indian movie . And so was Indian music . In fact it was golden period of Indian cinema & music . Adaptations were a natural consequence . Thanks .
@akhtung1 The Greek song is not the original, it was copied from the Indian one. In the 50s and 60s there was a group of Greek composers who used to copy Indian songs and put Greek lyrics on them. They were even presenting many of them as their own songs, lol. They were around 100 Greek adaptations of Indian songs back then.
@panarkas Yes...after a lot of research I found out too :D I hear to Greek FM radio and have come across lots of indian / greek mix (borrowed from each other, I guess). This one in not Greek but I know some which are originally Greek music and adapted in Bollywood films many years after. :)
@akhtung1 That's interesting. You could show me one of these songs if it's easy for you because I am curious. I know they are many composers from Turkey and the Balkans who make adaptations of Greek songs but I didn't know about Indian ones.
