  • @imagesunlimiteduk Actually, it only lasted 16 weeks in the U.S. It was canceled after that.

  • They have the 'diamond pattern' on the screen just like in the early TVS UK version!

  • Roy Walker's Catch Phrase PWNS Art James's Catch Phrase. At least they showed some enthusiasm in the UK.

  • Good to see Art again, it's been a

    while

  • I didn't have the program to fix the audio, today I would attempted it.

  • The game is awesome! Has anyone played it?

  • lol,this video was tressla!

  • Bermuda Triangle

  • I would love to see that American version!

  • MORE! MORE!!!

  • Can you post at least 1 full round?

  • 'Nev mind. Some guy already posted 3 episodes.

  • This was one of my favorite game shows of all time. It really is too bad that it only lasted one season. Art James was one of the best - up in the league of Bill Cullen who is the master of the master of ceremonies!

  • I wish there were still clips of The Magnificent Marble Machine. That was my favourite Art James show.

  • A YouTuber uploaded an episode of Magnificent Marble Machine.

  • Question....

How come the US version of Catchphrase lasted 1 season wile the catchphrase in Britian last several...

    (Answer constructively please...)

  • if oyu know catchphrase was first brodcasted in the 80s. by roy walker the original comperar

  • Possibly because of differences in viewing figures?

  • Budget problems. Catchphrase in the US was gone by mid-January. A few other shows have had that problem as well.

  • It was just alot more popular in the UK.

  • I always loved this show. In fact, I would have to say it's probably one of my top 10 all-time favorite game shows. Too bad it only lasted for one season here in the states. Thanx for posting this -- sure brings back memories! :-)

  • we have catchphrase in britain

  • We knew that. In fact, I think more people here know of the British version than the American one.

  • Any clips from "Say When" with Art James, mid 60s??

  • it's pretty much exactly like the uk version with the "bonus bank" known as the "super catch phrase" no ready money round and the money is a little bigger.

  • Shame there isn't any of the actual gameplay in this clip, I would be interested to see if there are more similarities with the UK version (that animated diamond was used in both versions for a start).

  • Thats true, i never understood that animated diamond in the first place

  • and mr. chips. u.k version looks better

  • Thats true, but for some reason i never understood why that animated diamond was actually there

  • This was the last game show Art James ever hosted. Such a superb but unfortunately underrated host who was every bit as sophisticated and intellectual as Bill Cullen, Allen Ludden, and Alex Trebek.

    RIP Art James

  • I believe this was Art James' last game show. Although he did play a game show host in the movie "Mallrats".

  • Here Is A Catchphrase

    JuChristmasly

  • Christmas in July

  • Whereas Catchphrase in the UK was the shit, this is just shit.

  • i have a question, was "i feel lucky" 1 of the show's catch phrases?

  • does anybody know the record for most rounds played in a single show?

  • Is Art James related to The Price is Right's Dennis James?

  • I doubt it. Art's birth name was Artur Simeonvich Elimchik (and he was born in Dearborn, Michigan!), while Dennis' was Demi James Sposa (born in Jersey City, New Jersey).

  • I never remembered the opening sequence of the show right up until a few years ago. Not only that but I thought that that diamond was just a harmless triangle.

  • If I remember hearing right, this show became a better hit in the UK.

  • It's been quite a hit in Australia, too...

  • I remember watching the game show "Catch Phrase" when I was 4 or 5 years old. It's more fun to watch!
