I hope that the remainder of the Queen Group will pick Marc Martel for thier lead singer. This Guy Marc Martel is looks & Sings just like Freddie Mercury.. I hope that Queen chooses Marc Martel I record some new music..
@staindstreams There is no video. This is a radio interview I did on my show a few weeks ago. That "photo" is just a place holder, letting you know what radio show you're listening to. But, perhaps next time, I'll add a couple of slideshow photos of my guests as the interview plays. Thanks!
I recorded this song (in its entirety) live, in super-close, high quality, HD video at a show in Minnesota on 10/9/11. Check it out on my YouTube channel and enjoy!
That is not Marc Martel in your picture, is it? That doesn't look a thing like the guy on Ellen or in the demo video. You've got the wrong guy in that picture.
Marc is a tremendous talent which is no surprise to fans of his band, Downhere! Downhere is a very talented band and they've released some great songs. I'm hoping that this exposure will help widen their audience and fuel their continued success and popularity.

It's a shame he's in a cult, because vocally he's really the best. If he got debauched a bit and found the TRUE spiritual joy of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, he'd make a good rock star. I don't mean to be so mean, but lifestyle wise, he's kind of Bizarro Freddie. It's just weird.
~QUESTION FOR: @QueenExtravaganza channel: can you PLEASE explain to me WHY you do NOT put the name "Marc Martel" in the Title My "Somebody To Love" audition, see: watch?v=dREKkAk628I WHY you do NOT put the name "Marc Martel" in the "more info section" and WHY you do NOT put the name "Marc Martel" in the tags (for all kinds of search engines bringing 10 times more views than "3 million")
What is a "Catholic-themed" rock band? And I ask this being familiar with the band. What do they sing about that's different from any other Christian band? I never hear anyone say, "Oh, they're a Protestant band".
It's official: Marc Martel from the Christian band Downhere has hit 3.1 MILLON views of his Queen "Extravaganza" audition... and because of this phenomenon and his AMAZING Sound, he will be performing on @TheEllenShow THIS COMING MONDAY, Oct. 3rd. Announced on Marc's Downhere facebook site
WOW..Marc is so humble and so let's-keep-our-feet-in-the-ground! ''It is so unsure.. if this thing got blown-up in a day who knows what could happen NEXT''....wow i love his calmness ABOUT ALL THIS :D
Marc sounds like a lovely chap. He is so amazingly talented. I wish him all the best. I saw Queen in concert a couple of times and I look forward to seeing Marc in the Queen Extravaganza.
Angela W in Philadelphia can't wait to see Marc play the Wachovia center in Philadelphia! It will be a packed house. (hopeful thinking) Facebook was blowing up here this weekend. Viewing his "Somebody to love" Audition. Only to discover, he has been a major talent long b/4 this opportunity. My jaw dropped listening to Nessum Dorma. Thanks for sharing Marc, wishing you the best of luck and success in your future. Knock, Knock..who's there? The world! Marc we've been waiting for you!
I hope this guy does a few Queen covers, but is mostly famous for HIS work, not just for having a voice very similar to Freddie Mercury. It'll probably always haunt him just a little, but his voice seems smoother than Freddie's, so it might end up being better.
@craiglederhouse it's very cool that you were the first to get a live interview with Marc after his video went viral...he comes across as such a normal, down to earth, and humble guy and everyone wishes the best for him...and kudos to you Craig for the interview, I think it went from about 1 million to over 3 MILLION views since you recorded this!
@egglondon speaking as a Christian, I find it weird that this is such a big thing for anybody: regardless of anything else, the fact that Freddie wrote and sang this song does not make it somehow a "homosexual" song any more than the Sistine Chapel has a homosexual ceiling... it's a great song, why should someone who has the voice to actually make something of it - which Marc clearly does! - avoid singing it because of the sexuality of the songwriter???!?
@flootzavut I know how SOME Christians view gay people, e.g. "fags to burn in hell" and the more pernicious "love the sinner, not the sin" with all it's sinister manipulative undertones. My point is that if Christian Marc wins this competition he could also be expected to sing "Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy" (quite gay) or "I Want To Break Free" which Freddie sometimes performed wearing false breasts. FM was an overtly gay man and the winner will be expected to perform appropriately.

@curbsplitter I have been a fan since 1975. I saw Queen (with Freddie) 14 times. I met him on a few occasions in a gay club in London in the 80's. Believe what you want but the fact is Mary Austin was his "cover" at a a time when being an out gay man was very difficult. She was his best friend. When he finally had the courage to "come out" there was no going back. All his lovers were then men. Get over it.
There is nothing to get over. You obviously didn't read his bio. You say this and that, but it is not documented. Again, there is nothing to get over. He was an amazing person, musician, and performer. Your a rabid fan at best. Doesn't mean you know the man.
@curbsplitter Actually, although a fan of the music I lost interest in following the group many years ago. I'm not disputing that he was amazing either. And I don't claim to "know" him. However, from being on the gay scene in London at the same time as Freddie and knowing people that knew Freddie I feel in a better position to have a valid opinion than someone who read's "bios" that were not approved by the man himself.
How about the fact that he left his female "friend" more money than his male partner of the time?
Or the fact that the man himself identified himself as a bisexual (despite saying he was gay on other occasions)? Did the bio make up those facts as well? Sorry, but your encounters with Freddie in gay bars don't mean he wasn't bisexual, not when there is sufficient documentation on his bisexuality.
I've been an avid Queen fan since I first saw them in Uk in the 70s...Marc is the closest thing I've ever heard to Freddy....Marc you're gonna get the call for sure and will play with Brian and the guys....Youre voice "made my day" I now believe in reincarnation
all I have to say is why is there even a compation now when everyone knows marc's going to will I listed to some of his compediters and hands down he's the best
What made Freddie so great was his talent of hitting the high notes, medium notes and low notes. When asked about singing Queen songs Roger Taylor said that he hit the high notes, Brian hit the low notes and Freddie hit all the notes.
I noticed Marc saying that he hits the high notes. This may be problem so I'm hoping that if he is picked Roger will have a way to work around that.
In the original Bohemian Rhapsody song every voice you hear in the first minute belongs to Freddie.
Thanks, justcharmingyou. I've added the annotations, as you suggested. Great idea. But I didn't hide my mistakes. Just pointed them out, and apologized. Gotta own those mistakes whenever you can! ;-)
HE MAY BE A SOUND ALIKE BUT IF YOU WATCH HIM SING SOME OF HIS FACIAL FEATURES HE SHOWS ALOT A OF FREDDIE. I have been a huge fan of Queen since the 70's and this guy is honestly the first one where when I close my eyes I hear Freddie which is a beautiful thing man.
@craiglederhouse thanks for interviewing Marc, I'm sure many people will find this interview soon to find out more about this incredible singer/ musician...his YouTube *audition' just went over 1.6 MILLION! My money says he wins the Queen Xtravaganza competition going away

What do Christians make of practising homosexuals (as Freddie was)?
egglondon 5 months ago
@egglondon fortunately, many Christians are clever enough to be ok with it :) I guess Marc Martel must be one of them.

I was like waiting for the interviewer to pick him up on "the Christian band involvement" thing.
